Dr. Rector is one of the best chiropractors I have ever had. I’ve had chiropractic care since high school and I’ve had many chiro’s over the years. My own brother is a chiropractor in another state. Since moving to Monterey, I started seeing Dr. Rector when I was pregnant with my 2nd child. He immediately was able to help me with the back pain I was experiencing. My entire pelvis had shifted and was causing me major pain. He was able to get my body in gear for a quick and easy labor. He now adjusts my toddler, newborn and husband. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a knowledgable chiropractor trained in several different methods.

With my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. If you do choose to come here, make sure Dr. Rector is listening very well to the issues you are describing. It is also worth getting more than one opinion, namely from an orthopedist, to ensure a proper diagnosis. I also agree with another reviewer on here that this practice seems friendly, but they are also very focused on getting you to sign up for a twelve month contractual payment plan that is very expensive – $ 225 per month – even if you have health insurance. There is an enormous amount of pressure to enroll from your very first visit. If you do choose to come here, but need to leave the practice at some point, make sure to get your medical records ahead of time or it may take nearly a month for them to arrive to you. Even then, you may have to argue and push to receive them in their entirety. This review and all contents of it are my opinion based on my experience with this practice. I wish I could say something more positive as I initially really liked this office.

Dr. Rector and his staff are friendly and kind but unfortunately I am not impressed by the treatment I received in the office. I stopped going after 6 months of little to no improvement. My former Chiropractor in FL often gave me specific exercises to help my issues, Rector did not. It seemed to be mostly about getting on an expensive payment plan. I visited the office multiple times a week and spent a lot even tho i have insurance. I never quite understood the plan.

Dr. Rector and his staff are great! I had back pain and called as a new patient and was fit in the same day. Explained everything very clearly and was very informational. Office was very clean and I left feeling better than ever.(consult, x-rays, scans and adjustment were done). I would highly recommend him to my friends and family.

My girlfriend(now wife) decided to try this chiropractor after an injury at Target. They made sure to get all the information from the injury and made photo copies of papers from Target and the hospital. She was finally seen by the chiropractor and preformed a few simple alignment procedures to her. As we were leaving, they hit us with the bill. $ 175 for what? We were under the impression that we would be billed from what they said earlier. The chiropractor also gave«Biofreeze» cream to her without explaining what it really was. That night she applied the Biofreeze to the affected area on her lower back. This resulted in a sudden and huge rash. We later looked up on the internet about this Biofreeze and it has a wide range of dangerous side effects. The chiropractor did not warn of these at all! She called the office that night and left a message. The next office day they called and left a message for us to call them back. I called them back myself and told the aide what happened and how unhappy we were about the whole thing. She said she would get back to us in a few days. The chiropractor himself called my girlfriend about 20 minutes later telling us to come back to the office. What is a chiropractor going to do for a rash? The chiropractor was being quite rude to her and telling her that this never happened before, that it wasn’t his fault, etc. When someone claims to be a doctor, I believe it’s important that they warn of dangerous side effects to their patients. She was not happy with how he was responding on the phone so she suggested a refund. He said no and again that it was not his fault. He then actually HUNGUP on her. What kind of doctor does that? She then emailed him and told him again on how unhappy we are. He said he would refund for the Biofreeze. It’s been a month and he hasn’t even done that. This is extremely unprofessional and I would not recommend doing business at this chiropractor.

Dr. Rector and the kind staff at Sports & Family Chiropractic have been a literal godsend to me. I’ve been dealing with chronic back pain since early 2002 when I suffered an injury playing baseball. The injury was exacerbated by my occupation back then as a lowly stocker at Office Depot. As a stocker, I was continually putting my back through hell by lifting heavy furniture all day, everyday for close to six years. The culmination of my participation in sports as well as my job at the time shredded my back. It got so bad in 2008 that I was hospitalized for it. I never sought the assistance that I truly needed back then and now feel like an imbecile for not taking care of myself the way I should have. Dr. Rector has identified what has been causing my issues and I couldn’t be more grateful for his expertise. Sadly, I have multiple subluxations in various areas along my spine, most notably in my T1 vertebrae, which have caused unruly pressure and a dull pain for almost a decade. Although the pain has not completely gone away, there has been vast improvement to my spine and the muscles that surround it. The care I’ve received at this office has been outstanding. I like to call the first visit the«discovery visit» as the office identifies the problems that are present. An assistant utilizes a rolling device(sorry, don’t know the name) that runs along the length of the spine finding any issues with nerve damage that may be there. Another tool is used afterwards to identify any structural and/or muscle issues. After the scans are complete, the results are given to Dr. Rector, who, at that time, goes over a summary. If required, adjustments to the neck and spine are performed and a weekly regimen of visits ensue. I would undoubtedly recommend this office for anyone who has grown weary of having back and neck pain.

Brian provides services to our entire family and we feel extremely comfortable with him. He has a friendly yet professional bedside manner. He offers an array of services including some more holistic based ideas but is never pushy about them. His office staff is polite, friendly, and always smiling.
