When I get good news, I like to reward myself! Life is short so why not? A overnight jaunt to Monterey with my favorite little man(his first time) and we were off. I choose HIE because of the good experience I had at the S. Lake Tahoe location. I’m glad I chose HIE again. I did have some hiccups with the main reservation line(not the hotel) and fortunately, I got the LAST Room for Saturday night. Guests have Free parking below! I parked my car and didn’t drive again until departure. Fantastic location in Cannery Row! Monterey Aquarium discount — 2 days for the price of 1 day. Just purchase from the computer kiosk. Free to use the computer and free to print. Breakfast included and every evening there was a wine and cheese tasting. My 7 year old loves this and feels really in control of fixing breakfast for himself. Adults have a wide variety of items from cereals, yogurts, pancakes, eggs, sausage or bacon, you get the point. Coffee/tea 24⁄7. Score. Fortunate to stay in the third floor and there wasn’t another room to one side of us. So we had very minimal foot traffic(room 302). However, you will hear pretty big foot steps outside your room. I sort of see issues with other areas of the hotel. Sound carries from that courtyard. My only gripe is that I didn’t think the Wifi worked well(esp. in comparison to the other location that I’ve stayed previously). And the location of Cannery Row made my Sprint connection work overtime for a signal.

We ended up leaving a day early due to the excessive noise outside our hotel room. The wonderful steps that everyone bounces their luggage down. We departed around 3:00 pm. I thought maybe after I explained why we were leaving early there might have been some price adjustment to our final bill. No, we were just charge for the full five days and we were sent on our way. Only two hours past a normal check out. Maybe half off the last night… something!!! You now have lost a repeat customer for life.

Good hotel. Good location. Nice rooms, nice staff. We have a large truck and they had no problems letting us park in the front lot so we wouldn’t have to park in the low ceiling garage. Even let us park there before we checked in so we could walk to the aquarium. Would come back again.

Great location! Less than a 10 minute walk to Cannery row. 2 blocks away is Lighthouse Ave with plenty of affordable restaurants. Next door is a quaint antique shop. Free breakfast. Pancakes, turkey sausage, bacon, muffins, cinnamon rolls, chiobani brand yogurt, instant oatmeal, apples, bananas, and juices. Everything was tasty except the faux tasting eggs, I stayed away from that. Breakfast is served until 10 am. Free parking in an underground lot. However the lot is not geared for pickups or large SUVs, it would be a tight squeeze. Free wi fi. I had no connectivity issues. Free hot coffee, hot water, and tea bags offered in the lobby 24 hrs. Free cheese, crackers, and wine hour each night. Each room has a mini frig, safe, and tv. No microwave. The water pressure in the shower was adequate. The heater worked fine. Toiletries were from Bath and Body. But the downside is that there are stairs all over the place. I stayed on the 3rd/top floor. When you get out of the elevator there are about 10 steps. Than in the outside corridor there are another set of steps. It was a dangerous inconvenience for me lugging suitcases up and down. So if you have strollers and kiddos you have to lug, keep the layout of the hotel in mind.

Very cute hotel within walking distance to Cannery Row. I had a corner room in the first floor and everything was clean and organized. The door is facing a shared outdoor patio which was fine for the most part except when people yelled or kids were crying– you could hear everything. If your room is on the street side then prepare to hear every single truck that drives by(kind of loud). Loved that breakfast was included and had very generous breakfast hours which is nice if you are on vacation. Unfortunately we weren’t able to stay for the wine and cheese event in the evening but that is a nice touch. Very friendly staff and really, the location is great. Can walk to the aquarium in ten minutes! Also, free parking!

Can’t beat the location — right on Cannery Row, walking distance to the Aquarium, and lots of shops, restaurants, Taste of Monterey wine tasting room, etc. The hotel is smaller, quaint, and pretty little courtyards. The room was very nice and modern. Complimentary breakfast, and wine-tasting each evening. The night we were there, the wine-tasting was sponsored by a local winery, and we ended up buying a bottle. Free parking and wi-fi. Wish we could have stayed longer!
