My experience was the same as the Lauren’s — I rented a home through Big Green Zucchini (later called Custom House Realty) from June 2014-​June 2015. Upon moving out, the property manager came to inspect and told us everything looked good, it just needed cleaning (as I expected). We cleaned and moved out, not expecting the entire deposit to be returned, but also not expecting them to take 75% of it, which they did under the guise of unclear and vague invoices citing «cleaning charges.» If you want to rent from this company, make sure that you document everything upon moving in and out.

This company is no longer called Big Green Zucchini, it is now called Custom House Realty & Property Management. I have been renting from them for 4 years and they always go above and beyond to try and address any issues that might come up. They are friendly, and most importantly EMPATHETIC caring people who are not just in it for the money. I have never had such a personable landlord in my life, and being an army brat I’ve had a lot of landlords over the years. I HIGHLY recommend Custom House Realty if you want a fair & honest company to rent from.

Terry W is the owner of Big Green Zucchini. He is nice at first and later when you move out he will yank your deposit entirely for damage that you are not responsible for. Take lots of photos when moving in and out because they will list everything wrong with the place as your fault until you disprove it. They are a struggling poor business that will try and bleed you dry when you are moving out. Also, THEY RENTED US A PLACE WITH COCKROACHES! Beware this company is bad news everyone I’ve talked to about the place in marina afterwards will confirm this report. Good luck you should try another of MontereyCAs many realty agents or property managers.
