Veggie Heaven

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I’ve been a patron for years and they are consistently good. I have been to other locations in the area but this location is by far the best one. You can’t go wrong with what you order. Some of my favorites are the Veggie Chicken Hot Pot, Ginger Chicken, Walnut Shrimp, and the Big Bowl Noodle Soups which are filling and a great value.

I love this place! I recommend you try once and you will know why! Lol
Meat eaters would like this place as well. My boyfriend tried one of my cutlets and he thought I was lying when I told him it was not meat! Lol
The service is excellent here as well.

Had to update my review… So sad but I brought my family here to expose them to a veg life style and it turned out to be a disaster. First of all I walked in with my 1 year old daughter .she was sleep on me and I asked FOR A HIGH CHAIR THE FEMALE WAITER TOLD ME TO WAIT TILL SHE WOKE UP… are you fucking serious!?! Does it matter I’m gonna need one anyone whether she’s sleep or not. So that was enough for me but I was trying to stay calm since I told my family this was a good place. The food was so bland I was shocked. They aren’t consistent with the food the only thing that stays consistent is the brown rice and green tea they give you smh my fam was NOT IMPRESSED EITHER.

I am post meal and had to review. Wow is the food good!!! I wonder if my waistline is finally happy with me on this choice. The appetizer: bbq chicken on sticks were delicious and the sweet and sour sauce to go with it. It was just the right kind of crisp. I am probably a mere lyric on a broken record but i couldnt believe it wasnt chicken like some warped butter commercial lol My bestie had the creaky chicken that tastes scrimptious and they have the bite of a flattened plantains. they taste slightly garlicy and lovely.
I had the vege duck and oh my! It was a whole perfomance. I felt bad to have asked for it to see what the server had to do for me, putting my wraps together and all. But i absolutely appreciated it!
Tipped well, they deserved it.

Ambience here is amazing and the people who work here are genuinely friendly and amazing. Feels good having this small gem around this area and they even offer to deliver to Clifton sometimes! Absolutely great job servicing their customers.

Even though I am not a vegetarian, I surprisingly used to frequent this establishment years ago with a friend after my undergraduate classes back in the day. It does feel the quality slightly fell over the years, but it is still a solid choice for vegetarian Chinese food with «meat». I have still always had consistently good service here and I like the spacious ambiance that is inside.
The «meat» options are not bad here, and it is an interesting twist eating here. The only thing that eating the «meat» here does to me is cause my mind to have confusion. I know what the texture of meat should be, I know how it is usually chewed, and while it tastes similar, it is obviously different! The dim sum and dumplings are a solid appetizer choice. Some of the «meat» such as roast pork, chicken roll, and BBQ sticks are god starters as well.
As for the main entrees, my favorite dishes here are the almond chicken, pork chop Peking style, mango flavored chicken, sizzling beef with black pepper sauce, heaven crispy beef, and crispy beef with walnuts. As a random note, the shrimp platters confuse my mind the most here, since I KNOW what shrimp looks like… and the «shrimp» here looks nothing like it!
I enjoy coming here when I want something different, and will be returning again shortly!

I had ordered a dish with sauce on the side. After they messed up my order giving me my dish with sauce, I kindly asked them to fix it. The waiter gave us a terrible attitude after THEY messed up my order.
Bad service. Bad food, spent the whole night vomiting. My boyfriend had diarrhea all night.

Either we were very lucky our first time or just unlucky our second time, but this place no longer sends us to veggie heaven.
We came in for lunch and got an order of general tsao’s chicken and beef with broccoli. We figured, let’s see how they do more conventional Chinese food. The general tsao’s and beef with broccoli were made with one of the many proteins that we tasted on our first visit, but by themselves and unadorned, they just weren’t that interesting. We also got a dragon roll, which had an off note that made it unpalatable to both of us.
Given the huge success of our first experience (e.g., the spare ribs), we would love to come back and try more of the finger foods (e.g., chicken wings). Plus, any sushi made with the sweet potato is surely worth revisiting.

I have been coming here for years and every time my expectations are delivered. Just Delicious! Lunch specials are the best and don’t forget the dessert!

Mixed feelings about Veggie Heaven. I would give the service 4 stars, but the food was not that appealing as other vegetarian restaurants. They offer a huge selection of sushi, apps and main dishes. We started with the steamed dumplings which were kind of tasteless without the side sauce. The tofu with curried vegetables entrée was not at all spicy, even though it was marked on the menu as a spicy dish. Our other dish, one of the vege chicken dishes had a nice teriyaki style sauce, but the vege chicken had a strange rubbery texture.
I will give Veggie Heaven another try and order a more traditional noodle dish and some of their recommended desserts.
There is ample street parking on Valley Road and side streets lots and local parking around the corner.

Customer service was great! And the food was amazing! Was so excited to finally have plant-​based nuggets after months of craving it! I also got the wonton soup and steamed dim sum SO GOOD! Had an excellent dinner

I came here expecting a lot because of the great reviews I saw online. The food was good, just good. Nothing special. We had the shrimp and avocado roll which was very tasty, my sesame chicken was very mediocre. The bubble tea was also overly sweetened and weird tasting.
What I didn’t like about the place was the service. The servers were very awkward and unaccomodating, late with small things like lemon or pepper sauce. Will not be coming here again.

Not sure how they do it– but the dishes here are cooked with house made meat substitutes. Chicken, pork, sushi, beef, even duck they’ve got it. Give the Heavenly Crispy Pork and BBQ Spare Ribs a try. The peking duck is really good too. Each «meat» looks like the real thing and has a similar texture. I’ve been on a vegan diet for the past few weeks and will be done this weekend but I am definitely going to return and bring back some carnivore friends.

This is the only Chinese restaurant I will ever eat Asian food at (because I’m a paranoid vegetarian). But since this entire restaurant is vegan, I can always ensure my food is too, obviously. Also, it’s healthy and they don’t use ingredients such as MSG. I’ve never really been into the «mock» meat — somehow it still makes me uncomfortable — but their General Tso’s Vegan Chicken dish is simply delicious! They also have an interesting drink menu, and mesmerizing décor once you notice it. When my sister and I were both going to school at Rutgers and NJIT, our parents would pick us up and we would come here for dinner or for any celebratory event! Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve come here so many times and each time is amazing. Tastiest mock meat dishes and good service. The extremely friendly owner let me sit and grade papers as I waited for the rest of my party to show. Service was great and our teapot was refilled numerous times.
My friends and I tried sushi first: avocado roll (super creamy!) and sweet potato roll. We could have gone for another round of both! For our entrees, we had veggie lo mein, General Tso’s chicken (get it sliced!), and mango chicken. Every dish was great.
For dessert, I highly recommend the vanilla almond bark tofu ice cream~ You won’t be disappointed with Veggie Heaven!

I’ve been here over 15 times and really enjoy their lunch specials but they are very inconsistent. I order the same things but each time they taste different or look different. I take a risk ordering from them at this point but when it’s good… it’s good. Unfortunately it’s been off more often. Seems like a different chef everyday which I don’t understand. I wish they all made the food the same way.
The sliced chicken is very good and had a firm texture. Noodles are just so so, no flavor. The shumi were terrible and mushy rice with odd flavors. Make sure you ask what things are before ordering. I wish they made some changes, it has so much potential!

What I love about Veggie Heaven is that it never disappoints. I’ve gone here to grab a meal since I was in high school. When you enter the restaurant, everyone is friendly and you instantly feel welcomed and relaxed. The place has a very chill vibe.
I go for the booths if available, but the tables are fine and have just the right amount of spaces between each. VH is a great place to for two to four people, though they can accomodate more.
The menu has so many different pan-​Asian options. If you are not familiar with mock meat, VH is a wonderful place to try it. For most of the dishes, I forget that they are vegetarian; totally fooled. The only exception are the shrimp dishes, but — and this is just my opinion — that’s just the nature of certain fake seafoods. The mock shrimp dishes are tasty; they just don’t taste like the real thing to me.
Anything you order will most likely satisfy. Plus, you get pickled cabbage for free before your food comes out of the kitchen. Extra points for that. :)
Note — VH is on a corner, so it’s easy to find. It’s also close to the train station. If you’re driving, you’ll need to find street parking.

I’ve been loving all the vegan Chinese food regularly for a few month and just discovered the other «American» menu. My G-​d how good is
this Caribbean Burger and sweet potato fries?! Try it. You won’t regret it. And try the won ton soup.

My friend and I enjoyed this cozy restaurant despite coming here for dessert only. There is a lot of seating and the restaurant was almost empty at 8:30 pm on a Saturday. The interior is a traditional Chinese style, similar to other Chinese restaurants. However, what stood out to me is their completely vegan menu! That aspect is surely a rare gem for a Chinese restaurant.
We ordered two vegan cheesecakes: blueberry and almond. The waiter brought us a free pot of hot of tea and some cabbage leaves (can ask for refills). We felt full just after one slice cheesecake.
I took off one star because they do not list the ingredients that they use to prepare their «vegan meat,» so vegans/​vegetarians who are cautious about the ingredients should ask the staff. We also felt like the staff wanted us to leave after finishing our desserts, so them watching us felt a little bit unsettling.
However, I will still come back to try their main course dishes!

Best vegan spot in North Jersey! Carrot cake is amazing
