New Jin Lin

Ordered 5 items for just a little over $ 20, enough for two people. Everything was delicious and fresh. New favorite place… best I’ve found in the area.

Ordered chow fun house special and egg rolls. Egg rolls where ok but the chow fun had only three small shrimp & four small bite size pieces of pork & three pieces of chicken. Mainly the dish is noodles. I basically paid 9.95 for noodles. I would tell you try at your own risk. I will not order again.
On an other note I originally called Hunan House but there phone number goes to this place now. I was thinking they must have moved. I would really doubt that this restaurant is run by the same people.
It’s time for me to find a new Chinese takeout place.

The delivery was 15 minutes faster than previewed!!! The food was not bad but there is definitely better in this area. If you need food fast, these are your people. Free calendar!

I use to like this place when it was Hunan House. I would go for the hot and sour soup, orange beef… I ordered from their new site and it was horrible. The hot and sour was thin and flavorless, the hot and spicey beef dish tasted like some horrible concoction from a chinese resturant in the mid 60’s. Very bad.

Nice people and sometimes edible Chinese cuisine. Too bad they don’t understand basic English. If you want your order totally screwed up then this is the place for you!

I ate here about 4 hours ago. now I have diarrhea. as far as Chinese takeout goes, this one is pretty good.

Food arrives in a timely fashion. Shrimp and broccoli tastes fresh and yummy. This is our go to Chinese place.

I grew up spoiled by an awesome Chinese restaurant in my town. Nothing has really ever compared; until I discovered New Jin Lin. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. They deliver food promptly and piping hot. I absolutely love their garlic chicken, spare ribs and dumplings. If I could give them more stars, I would.

Really solidly good Chinese delivery. Loved that I could order through Unilocal!They were great wit my allergies too! And I’m allergic to everything! Good food, priced well, nice delivery guy. A solid yes.

Best Chinese in Montclair… seafood taste fresh, order from here way too often, because of the fair prices. Friendly drivers too!

I was unimpressed. I expected something a little better considering they have a website you can order from. The dumpling were mushy and didn’t even come with the real soy sauce that most places give you. The lo mein was good enough. The fried rice was not as flavorful as I would have liked but not bad. I don’t feel overly compelled to order from them again.

Had a jones for Chinese last night, so called our always-​reliable, long-​term Chinese restaurant, Hunan House, in the basement of the A&P on Valley Road in Upper Montclair. Called the usual phone number and a young man answered. I said I’s like to place an order for delivery and he asked whether I was calling Hunan House. Duh, yeah. He explained that Hunan House was his uncle’s place and is now closed for business. His uncle transferred the phone number to him, but the young man promised expedited service. So I figured, OK, we’ll give it a try. How bad could it be? I ordered the usual, including Hot and Sour and Moo Goo Gai Pan. He said they were on Bloomfield Avenue, but I’d have it in 35 minutes. OK, it was closer to 45 min, but Upper Montclair can remain a permanent mystery to downtowners, so we wait.
The Hot and Sour soup was quite nice: not too vinegary, and had some carrots which gave it a little surprising edge. Very nice, and lots of fresh mushrooms. But the mushrooms were the problem with the MGGP. It was almost all mushrooms and no bok choi or any other crunchy veg and very slim on the bean pods. Sooo disappointing and not to our standards or taste. With the soup, they delivered bags of those crummy hard noodles, not the freshly-​fried mai fun we have become used to.
Mysteriously included with the delivery were two cans of Pepsi. Huh? I later learned, from reviewing the menu, that Jin Lin includes two sodas (or egg rolls) with every order of $ 20 or more. But, since we don’t drink anything with high fructose corn syrup, these two cans of Pepsi are now in service as paper weights. It would have been nice to have been told that soda was included and asked what kind I’d like.
This was all bad enough, but the experience was completely ruined when I discovered that NO FORTUNE COOKIES were in the delivery bag! This was dark and disturbing and bespeaks a complete lack of interest by Mr. Jin (or is it Mr. Lin?) in helping us to prepare for our futures («Your chance of winning Powerball are nil. Spend the money instead on cigarettes or rum.»)

Like others have said, there are many places closer to my apartment but I come back to New Jin Lin every time. The food is great, ordering is easy, the employees are friendly and the delivery is fast. I find myself eating Chinese food a lot. =0)

I ordered from New Jin Lin for the first time and the food was ok. I had the Chicken and Broccoli and it was doused in sauce.
The delivery on the other hand was AWFUL. The driver called and said he was «outside». I thought it was strange that he didn’t come up to the door so I had to put on my shoes and jacket go outside and meet him. As I’m putting on my shoes, he starts to honk frantically in my apartment parking lot, alarming all of my neighbors. When I asked him why he didn’t come to the door, I could not understand his response. Needless to say, not the best delivery experience.

This place doesn’t disappoint. Exactly what I expect out of a Chinese place that does delivery. Good portions, fair priced. Ordering online is a plus too I suppose.

The price is amazing an the quality of food is excellent.
I live in Verona and there is at least five other restaurants closer to this place and I go here every time I can.
The chicken and broccoli is awesome. The sauce is a brownish red color just the way I like it
The shrimp friend rice actually has shrimp in it.
They make my husbands boneless spare ribs just the way he likes them. Not too much fat and VERY WELL DONE. When I call they already know for my house my hubby likes his ribs well done!
Other items I have ordered are the fried shrimp (amazing), shrimp rolls, chicken chow mein, moo goo gai pan, and General Tso’s chicken. Everything always comes right on point.
Delivery time is reasonable. I always tip! They are coming from Montclair to Verona and tonight got my food here in approx 30 minutes

**** Please note I have nothing against the people at the restaurant. They are nice people. It is something that I observed that is disturbing. I am not trying to be funny, I am being real. ****

Ordered takeout on the weekend and delivery was fast. The food however was terrible. I was looking forward to the chef specialty sesame beef but it was awful. It looked like General Tsao’s chicken (the sauce in particular) except the chicken was substituted with beef. Why cover the beef with flour and fry it for this dish? The beef strips are suppose to be sauteed like in beef with oyster sauce (which I haven’t tried at this place and probably won’t). I’ve had much better egg roll and hot and sour soup which I had also ordered. Vegetable fried rice was okay.

Food is priced fair.
Taste is OK.
Favorite dish here Chicken with Broccoli.

So now I tried their dumplings and General Tso Chicken from their lunch special :) liked the dumplings, their dumplings sauce is pretty good too. The General Tso chicken was good but id prefer it a little less sweet. Free egg roll as good as usual. The delivery guy nice and smiling.
Prices? Very affordable.
Great option if you are at home feeling too lazy to cook
