Sloppy mediocre food. Had a salad here and it literally looked like it was prepared by a 5 year old. Not to mention our waitress was an attitudy eastern European lady who acted like a drill Sargeant when taking our order and rolled her eyes quite a few times at us. So many better diners in NJ.

Cute little place on the main strip of Upper Montclair. Doesn’t look so much like a diner on the outside but totally diner on the in. Services was great. Food was really good. Ordered the cobb salad. Was excellent. Everyone around me was ordering breakfast stuff. Bacon, eggs etc. All looked really scrumptious. I’d go back.

Middle of the road diner that’s clean, bright, affordable, with friendly service and basic fare that won’t astound or offend. Placemats with local businesses advertising, Formica tables, artificial maple syrup on the table, AM radio playing in the background(Dionne Warwick at the moment), pay at the register, etc. You get the picture. Perfectly pleasant and anti-yuppie and authentic to the core. I enjoyed my oatmeal and raisins and English muffin. Service was excellent from the very first ‘Can I help you doll?’ to the last, ‘Are you sure I can’t get you more coffee?’

Sat down and ordered. Food came out only a few minutes later — less than five. Food tasted cold and dried as if it was precooked and microwaved. Service was rushed. The waitress brought us food and 5 minutes later, while we were eating, she brought us the check. We never saw her again.

This place is hit or miss. I had the opportunity to visit this diner on a few occasions, two or three times for dinner, less so breakfast. I can’t say much for the lunch and dinner items, since from what I recall, I would only order breakfast items here despite what time I go. The omelettes here are pretty darn good, french fries are great, salad greens are fresh. Skip the Corned Beef Hash because it looks just like it tastes. The jelly packet selection i’m sad to say is quite mundane. Service is super quick, but often times mirror of the vibe that you get from this place: Direct and a snore.

Nothing fancy – just a typical diner – but great burgers, etc, and friendly reliable service. Pretentious restaurants come and go in Montclair, but this one’s been around forever.

Small diner nudged on a street that has a bunch of eateries. What makes this place stand out? That its a Montclair ‘traditional’ diner. Theres no real WOW factor but it is decent if you want breakfast at 3 o clock in the afternoon while your company rather have burgers. Food is okay, service is okay, and the stores appearance on the inside is okay. With all the eating places around it would be hard for me to step back into here without craving another store along the way

This place looks kindaaaa like a dive. When you’re on the outside it isn’t that bad, it actually looks cute. Once you get inside, eh… kinda looks a little sketchy… just a little. The waitresses all seem super friendly, everyone seems to be a regular. They were all super cheerful and the food was actually really good! I had a turkey wrap and my boyfriend got the athenian wrap, we both enjoyed them! Cute place, good food. We’ll be back.

Mr. Gus(one of the owners) is a neighborhood icon, and food is terrific… still our favorite breakfast and lunch spot in Montclair!

Mediocre food but with heart. I’ve never had a meal which I would consider bad here… And also never had anything better than good. Burgers, as the name of this joint would suggest are served fresh off the grill complete with charcoal burnt ends. The kitchen is UBER eager to please, accepting any special request without a huff… and whenever I eat at the counter the cook eyes my reaction to his food through the kitchen window to make sure I am enjoying it. Once he even came out of the kitchen to the counter when he noticed I unwrapped my to go egg sandwich to put hot sauce on it, apologizing telling me I should tell them and they will do it for me… Sweet peeps.

I’ve been going here for years so I may be a little biased. That being said, it’s a favorite place for me to go despite it’s flaws. The food is alright, I’d avoid the omelettes and go straight for the wraps or panini’s. The service varies from being right on time to slow as molasses, it depends who you get and how busy the diner is. The waitresses are friendly, once again some bias since they know me well; the owners are very nice as well. The diner looks alright, nothing mind blowing but also nothing that makes you want to walk out. It’s a good place to meet and eat, the food though is going to be up to your own personal tastes. I’d strongly suggest though that this place is worth a try.

I really wanted to love this place, but i just left generally underwhelmed by the food. We were seated relatively quickly on a busy Sunday, and everything came pretty out pretty quickly which was nice. I had the Athenian wrap, which is basically described as a Greek salad with grilled chicken in a wrap. They toasted the wrap, which I appreciated, but it came falling apart. The filling wasn’t really dressed, as expected for a Greek salad, and the chicken had too much char to it. Several pieces left an unpleasant burnt taste in my mouth, once to the point of not being edible. The side of home fries I had was decent, although a bit undeseasoned. The highlight of the meal was the chocolate egg cream, which I devoured. I may give this place another try because the service was very good, but there are definitely better diner options around.

I have long had cravings for breakfast food at 10pm, for which I’ve had no outlet. Thanks a bunch, north Florida. But now I live in New Jersey, where I have tons of options for diners. I’ve been to this place three times now. Every time I love it more. I can’t speak on the sandwiches or salads or other lunch foods or desserts. I’m only there for breakfast food. –Eggs Benedict; perfect Hollandaise sauce. –Two eggs, bacon and toast; Over easy is just runny enough. Canadian bacon… ISNOTDOUBLE-SMOKEDBACON, which I expected as a reminder of winder visits at cabane à sucre. It’s a piece of ham. Round sliced ham. Pfff. Americans. Also on the plate is a hefty portion of hash browns. Not the oily kind that used to soak up remnants of your drunken college pub night hangovers. Delicious grown up health«conscious» kind that nicely complements your salty bacon. –Pastrami omelet is some kind of wonderful. No cheese, you gotta ask for that extra. But otherwise, you don’t need it. Because it’s fancy and satisfying enough for you. The owner might not seat you, but he will visit your table at some point during your meal. That’s customer service. Love it. Go here if you have urges in the middle of the night, and appreciate a good pancake.

Good value for your dollar. Homemade soups that I enjoy. Clean, friendly service — sometimes that’s all you want. Great place to bring the kids.

Stopped in for lunch. Good Value. Fast and Friendly Service. Relatively easy parking in the municipal lot. Entered needing lunch. Exited having had lunch. I’ll stop in 2 – 3 times a year. No more.

My wife and I Have been coming here(to this storefront) for way long, first in its original iteration as Louvis and then later under two other operators. The owners(the one we know best and who greets us when he’s on duty is named«Gus,» one of two possible Greek diner owner names, the other being«George.») are always pleasant and the owner’s wives, who watch the $$, are always pleasant and ask how everything was. The food is unexciting, but servicable — and verging on the boring. If you go there for dinner, you will be offered a choice of the same four vegetables they have been offering for years, without change: carrots, broccoli, corn, and string beans. All boiled, all un-seasoned, all terrifically yawn-inducing. On the other hand, there is salt and pepper on the table. The burgers are OK but I’ve often been disappointed with absence on the menu of either Tournedos en Croute or poached Maine lobster with truffels and a coulis of ramps(on or off? they never said) and heirloom garlic. Anyway, it’s a safe choice for a family drop-in meal. We have never been disappointed. On the other hand, we have realistic expectations.

Average food. Average service. Average prices. It’s a no-frills diner. You won’t be blown away, but you won’t get ill. It’s straight-up diner food. Everything is done properly, though nothing is exceptional. They do breakfast pretty well, and that’s an absolute MUST for a diner.

Big selection, good prices, friendly staff, and the food is tasty too! Everything is reasonably priced which is not common for this part of town. Breakfast is always a good option; there are several delicious meat and egg options to choose from. Lunch is equally fantastic as there are many sandwiches and burgers on the menu. Disco Fries here are awesome, good gravy to cheese ratio.

It’s NJ. It’s Greek. It’s a diner. I’d love to visit Greece one day just so I can see the facility which trains ambitious Greeks to be Greek-American Diner owners. I can imagine entire classes dedicated to the art of disco fries and the science of mozzarella sticks. An entire warehouse filled with red colored ketchup bottles which maintain the appearance of always looking full. They teach you how to list every single possible thing on the menu so that the average person breaks down and simply orders what he/she can think of off the top of their head. Can’t say I can complain. I’ve never had bad food at a Greek diner.
