Place was super cute! I got the peter cotton tail vanilla latte. I love the vibes of the inside and frankly my latte was dam good! I think the board was difficult to understand. I’m not sure if it was because I stopped in during the middle of a work day so my head was going a mile a minute, but for some reason I found the menu layout a bit strange. The guy at the counter was also a bit awkward. He asked if I was paying for my friends drink and then told me it’s the gentlemanly thing to do. I mean, granted he was definitely being friendly, but bluntly it was awkward lol. Coffee is good, atmosphere was good, I’d go back for sure just a strange first encounter perhaps! Hopefully I’ll get used to their menu a bit as well.

I absolutely love this café. It’s my everyday go-to spot for a delicious cup of iced/frozen coffee. My favorite drink here is the dirty love child which is basically a frappé but 100x better. I usually get it with coconut milk, caramel & hazelnut flavor… Simply delicious :). Also, the employees are very friendly and the atmosphere of the café itself is very welcoming and you just feel good vibes around you.

If you want an amazing brew, this is the place to go. I order the same thing everytime i go to a coffee shop, which allows me to rate each place.(Decaf Iced Caramel Coffee with Extra Caramel and whippd cream) I guess they did not have caramel drizzle beacause they put loads of artifiical flavor, which made my coffee slimy. Overall, its a nice enviornment. When you think coffee shop, you thinh Java Love Coffee Roasing Co!

Great people… vibe…oh yeah and coffee the antithesis of pretentious, Java love has to be the chilliest coffee shop I have ever been to! It is what you need to be– a quick coffee run, a meeting place, a spot to hangout, or your go-to when you have work to be done(bc hello free wi-fi) from their coffee, to pastries… I go out of my way to frequent Java love! I will be a forever customer!

I’ve tried to go to the outlet on Church Street in Montclair early in the morning around 7:30. I have to say, although I would love to get coffee there at that time, I do not have time to wait. There is only one employ there till 8. As such, if 2 or 3 patrons come at one time you are likely to wait 10 – 20 minutes for coffee. I have observed many people leaving then, myself included, to get quicker service at Starbucks. We do not have time to wait in the morning!

This place is fantastic. The staff of musicians and artists is funny and always a pleasure to speak to, and they come up with new flavors every month or so that will keep you coming back for more. I just met the owners last night and they were lovely as well, so not was not a surprise. And they have two locations now, so I don’t have to drink corporate coffee when I am downtown!

I am usually a Starbucks Dark or Medium Roast kind of coffee drinker. Black, no milk or sugar. I stopped into Java Love on Church street recently and was pleasantly surprised. Their dark roast regular coffee was just as good if not better than Starbucks.(starbucks is only a stones throw away from the church st location) I have yet to try a Java Love specialty drink(latte etc) or espresso so I can’t comment on those. I also have to give them credit for having the moxie to open up so close to starbucks. Both Montclair locations are in close proximity to this coffee Goliath. So I give them points just for that. — Bön Appétit

Java Love is my favorite spot for grab and go coffee in Montclair. They offer a wide variety of blends and special coffee drinks. One of my favorites is the«dirty grandma» chai. There were hints of cinnamon and nutmeg that gave it a sweet spice flavor. I also enjoy the«monuts» which is a muffin shape with a donut batter. I have tried the plain and also the Nutella. I would have liked to have a bit more Nutella filling in there though. The shop also has a good amount of space with seating to the side so if you wanted to sit, sip your brew, and hang out there is a nice ambiance to do so.

Small, independent coffee shop and I want to support that. But the drinks have tried(coffees & teas) were just okay. Very little other than drinks if you’re hungry. Rather slow service if you’re n a rush — fine if you’re a laid back hippie type who likes to just sit & chill out. Hope they step up — and survive.

After reading great reviews about this place I had to try it, wish I had a better review to write. I got two iced americanos. Watch as the girl behind the counter removed what looked like prebrewed cold espresso from the refrigerator. She then measured out what I’m assuming was a «shot» of espresso, poured it over ice and filled the cup with water. What coffee shop prebrews espresso??? I paid $ 6 plus a tip to drink coffee flavored water. Never again, poor quality. Only giving two stars for the friendly staff.

Authentic coffee spot, serves its purpose for the area. It’s what you would expect for a coffee shop to be. The staff is knowledgable and have a passion for the craft. Quick, never a long wait.

Every single coffee drink here is very good. One of the beast coffee places around. Only word of advice: do not come here when it is 95 degrees outside, they don’t use AC nor deodorant.

They make an excellent latte, as if you were in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Scones are good, not great, but tasty enough. They should be more flakey, not chewy(I had the cherry almond) and use less sugar. Not a breakfast place but you can get a cup of boxed oatmeal which is surprisingly tasty. Free wifi and good vibe makes this a place to hangout for an hour quite enjoyable.

Okay, so this is an update. And I really want to like this place. Inviting seating outside and indoors looks super cozy. But service is very slow. And by the way, I out in an order for pickup a week earlier for a morning party which included two carry out boxes of Joe-regular and decaf with sugar, milk, cups, etc. girl looked at me like, What??? There’s no order. Hmmmmm. Then asked other indifferent worker who shrugged and went about her business with no help to my girl. Asked her where they keep the orders. Then she said usually the orders are«up here» indicating the wall. And lol and behold… There it was! How about that? And nothing was ready. Everyone looked at each other knowing a whole large brewing needed to be made for my order which was already late for my pickup time. And it wasn’t even that good. Had lots leftover. Call and confirm if you are ordering ahead or wait in the long line for extremely mediocre service and drinks.

The only reason why I’m giving them 3 stars is because they somehow ran out of ice on the hottest day of the year so far. I was really looking forward to an iced coffee, but hopefully next time they’ll have ice and I can try it. Their hot coffee though was great though. My girlfriend and I tried the Almond Joy latte. They’re a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Also in a prime location right next to the train station.

Starbucks ain’t got nothin’ on Java Love! Love is the perfect word to describe my affection for this tiny and quaint café nestled in the heart of Upper Montclair. I’m not a huge coffee drinker… in fact, I don’t even own a coffee maker. But there’s a certain something about going to a café to get the creative juices flowing. I was tired of the overcrowded and overrated Starbucks crowd, so I stumbled upon Java Love in a desperate attempt to find somewhere to write material for my web site. I was not disappointed. I absolutely love hanging out here. My favorite drink is the Winter Wonderland which has almond milk(I don’t do dairy). There are some killer gluten-free Vegan breakfast bars that make the perfect accompaniment to your coffee. The staff is very laid-back and really nice. The prices are comparable to Starbucks, but the atmosphere is way better and the people overall, including the patrons, are much nicer. I can spend hours here and it feels like minutes. If you’re looking for a casual coffee joint with free wi-fi, and great coffee and snacks, the Java Love is for you. I even love that they don’t kick anyone out. In fact, one of the baristas began playing his acoustic guitar around closing time, before cleaning up. I love that kind of thing. Feels like a home away from home.

How? How can this place be a four? Better yet, how can this place still be paying rent? If I could have, this would be a 0. Everything is flavorless. I have now tried the chai, cappuccino, and a hot chocolate, out of compete fairness to the place, and I am angry every time. How do you mess up hot chocolate? I make better hot chocolate at home with HALF a packet of SUGARFREE Swiss Miss and H20. It’s unfortunate because the place has a nice ambiance. The fact that they don’t have classic coffee mugs is lame too. I get this place is Earth friendly, but what’s friendlier than a recyclable ceramic mug? As I finish this review, Stevie Nicks’ «Edge of Seventeen» is playing and the one star now feels somewhat deserved. Sorry. *You may be saying I have no Unilocal credibility, but the fact that I brought myself to write a review says it all*

Had really high hopes about this spot from all of the reviews with positive feedback… came to be sub-par. We visited this morning with my wife… we’re both avid coffee lovers and live near Montclair. Java Love definitely has the ambiance right — cozy and rustic, pillows and high chairs with seats. Very nice presentation, but that’s where it kind of stops for the experience. The choices are slim, maybe 12 options. Good prices, though, but the quality of the drinks were what killed us. My wife got an iced chai latte, and I got a cappuccino. BOTH drinks were extremely bland — the chai latte had a HINT of chai, and the capuccino was also flavorless(besides the steamed milk topping). Again, the ambiance and feel of the place is good, but in terms of being a polished coffee joint, I think they’re short.

Quality coffee at fair prices with an exceptionally friendly staff. This place is a small, independently owned coffee shop that is new to the area, and I’m a fan. The coffee is robust and flavorful with a fresh taste. The owner seemed delighted for our business and could not have been any friendlier, taking the time to explain all they had to offer. Keep in mind that this is a shop for coffee and pastries only. There is no hot food – at least not yet. They have a nice – though curious – arrangement with The Little Daisy Bake Shop just up the road on Valley. The Bake Shop provides many of the pastries sold at Java Love, while Java Love provides the coffee for the Bake Shop. Win-win as far as I’m concerned. We sampled several of the pastries and were impressed. They are offering their own roasted beans at about $ 15/lb, and they will grind it to your preference. Between the service, coffee, pastries and price, I’m certain to return.
