I walked in as part of a party of five & we stood awkwardly in the vestibule for a solid ten minutes before anyone acknowledged us. They told us we could check in the other room for a table. There were none so we waited a few more minutes & when no one came over to take a name or give us a wait time or anything we just left. No greeting, no anything. If it’s a place where you seat yourself, there isn’t a sign saying so, so the obvious response is to wait to be seated. There were at least a dozen people behind us as well & they didnt seem to care about them either. Super weird.

We walked in and were told to «sit over there.» Not a good start. We tried a good morning and got a grudging one back. Then we were told that a cup of hot water would cost the same as coffee. Needless to say we got up and left. Went across the street to Mr. Johns. Yay!

Avoid this place! The staff is terrible! The food was not that good and it’s way over priced. I do not recommend this place.

We went to this restaurant because the restaurant across was busy. There was limited options to have breakfast because there were only two restaurants. I never been so DISGUSTED with the service at any restaurant. The portions was small and taste so so. Nothing to rave about. BEWARE to double check your check. They add tip to your check. 20%. I was ok with that but what happened afterward was unbelievable. The owner signaled we didn’t leave tip after we got out of restaurant. After showing the tip was added to check by the waitress, the owner realized but didn’t apologize. It left bad taste in our mouths after we enjoyed a wonderful sunrise

I know that this place has been around for the longest time but that doesn’t give them the right to offer horrible service or just not care. I had better experiences in the past(five years ago), but I went this weekend and we had to wait 20 minutes before finally asking a random employee for a server to take our order or even give us water. Order and drinks placed finally, another 20 – 25 minutes by the time our food comes, still with no water or drinks. No one came to see if we needed anything else. There was no butter there for the toast since it wasn’t on it, so again we had to get up out of our seats to the bar area to request our drinks again and butter. The food was delicious and was made to order, but the final nail in the coffin was the last 20 minutes of waiting for our bill, once again hunting down an employee to get it to us. They didn’t look too busy or understaffed so I can’t understand the lack of service. Montauk is laid back and not too rushed which is what I love, but a potential half hour breakfast turned into over an hour just out of pure terrible service/organization. Very disappointing.

I’ve come here numerous times in the past and have had no issues with it. It’s one of this town’s limited breakfast spot options and is generally passable on most fronts. Full disclosure: on most occasions, I’d have given Anthony’s three stars, but my family’s experience today was inexcusably poor. As expected, my mother and I waited about twenty minutes to be seated, no big deal. We ordered coffee, and were expected to reach over the table and grab the cups of scolding hot liquid ourselves when it arrived. The girl was holding both cups in one hand, they were spilling, and it was just plain unpleasant. Our actual waitress came over within 5 minutes and said with steely flatness, «ready?» to which I replied, «not quite yet.» She returned sixty seconds later and vengefully uttered a, «ready yet?» When I told her that I needed another minute, she stomped away bitterly, causing me to wonder if I was actually doing something wrong. We both eventually placed our orders, and began what would become a forty-five minute wait with no reassurance that our meal was so much as a ticket on the board. We asked a staffer to check on our food, and he said sure but never returned. When my mother asked our waitress if it was coming, the woman stared malevolently and muttered something to the lounging staff-member next to her. Everyone seemed to be on break. We finally confronted her, and were given a bland-yet-aggressive lecture about fixing our attitudes. We asked for the manager, and were told that we were already talking to her; I don’t think that was the truth at all. At this point, we put three dollars on the table – entirely too gracious of a gesture – and walked out. I love Montauk, and I never expected to be treated with such wanton disrespect by a staff-member at a local establishment. Thank goodness John’s across the street knows how to run a business, because the friendly service and fantastic eggs benedict managed to save the morning. Needless to say, we won’t be returning to Anthony’s.

The pancakes were really yummy and fluffy! My friend got an omelet with avocado and other things and she said it was really good as well. The line gets kinda long so try to get there early

I come here every time I go to Montauk for my lil vacation. I come with family, for breakfast of course. I love this place. Let me start by saying I’m giving it 4 stars, not 5, solely for service. It would have been full 5 stars if the service was a bit better. The food is absolutely delicious. I got the S’mores French Toast. My sister says that it’s more of a dessert, but I disagree. The portion is right and its made to perfection. It’s nice pieces of French toast with nutella and marshmallows in the middle, with chocolate drizzle on top and whipped cream. It’s actually heaven. I look forward to getting this for a year until I can get It again.(I only get it once a year… you can assume why.) My boyfriend got the country fried steak and eggs, it came with 2 biscuits, home fries, bacon and some type of gravy sauce. It was absolutely delicious. He was raving about it for the rest of the week. I had some and the steak was cooked perfectly. It was so delicious I was slightly bummed I didn’t get it myself! My sisters boyfriend got the same thing and devoured it. My sister enjoyed her usual omelet with cheese, tomato, avocado and asparagus. We got two sides of bacon, and for the $ 5 price per side, you’d think you’d get a decent amount, but 3 strips came on the plate. THREE. We will be remembering that the next time we decide we want extra bacon. We came relatively early on a Thursday, about 9:00AM. We were able to get right in and seated very quickly. Last time we went, on a Saturday at about 8:00AM, we had to wait at least 20 minutes(still worth it). I say if you’re going, go on a weekday and early. By the time we left, the place was packed. Now, about the service. It was just OK. The table wasn’t completely cleaned,(under our coffee cup plates there were left over papers-i.e. straw wrappers, empty sugar packets), I had to wait almost 10 minutes for our server to come back over after we ordered our drinks so I could ask for a coffee. The people helping the servers(filling coffees and whatnot) seemed annoyed they had to do what they were doing, but our actual server was very sweet. After our food was delivered, our waitress came over to make sure we were good then didn’t come back over. At all. We had to call her over so she could give us our check. Luckily, we were seated by the drink stations and they had napkins so we could get our own as we needed more. Overall, the food is delicious, the service is OK. Paying $ 5 for 2 or 3 strips of bacon definitely isn’t my cup of tea, but I know I’ll be back. Waiting patiently for my S’mores French toast!

I took my family of four here for breakfast yesterday. When we sat down I had to give back 3 dirty pieces of silverware that were on the table. The number of flies flying around the restaurant also made us uneasy. The food was standard fair – pancakes, waffles, French toast. After eating most of my French toast, I found a fly in it. When I finally got the attention of the waitresses 10 minutes later, the two of them both shrugged their shoulders and just gave me the check with no compensation. Not going back here.

Pros: 1-good coffee. If I can drink it black, it’s good. 2-friendly waitress 3-over easy eggs — prepared as expected(not my order, but if it was I wouldn’t want the egg served on top of my pancakes. My hubby didn’t mind, so this won’t be a «con» on my review) Cons: 1-if your restaurant name has«pancake» in it make sure your pancakes rock, or at least have flavor. A good pancake doesn’t need much syrup, if any at all– especially with fruit«inside». These pancakes were tasteless and had holes in them. The holes leads me to believe the batter was being«stretched» out. Maybe«watered down» with skim milk? I am guessing. 2-I ordered pancakes with strawberries«INSIDE». Well they were actually«INBETWEEN» two pancakes. Made me wonder why they weren’t just«topped» with strawberries. Hmmmmmm. My guess is they would have to be «fresh» to be presented on top. 3-slow service, but I’m in Montauk in July, so this has no influence on the # of stars. Summary: –Don’t order pancakes. –Don’t order pancakes with strawberries«inside». –Do have coffee –Do have eggs –Three stars because I am excluding slow service mentioned in cons. Actually, I just didn’t have the heart to give them two.

Really great food, especially the home fries and Nutella French toast! Came every morning we were here and really enjoyed it. The wait wasn’t long either. I definitely recommend it to anyone in town looking for breakfast!

I rarely seen such little desire to do a good job across food quality, service and cleanliness. We ordered crepes, pancakes, eggs and only pancakes were eatable. The crepes were a cross between cardboard and resin, the coffee was undrinkable, and eggs undercooked. The servers were not polite and disorganized — barking at each other and not caring about our dining experience. To top it off they attempted to cheat on the bill by claiming 20% tax. It would so easy for them to do a better job just with a little bit of effort. Don’t waste your time and money.

I WENT into Anthonys before the holiday and it was very slow. The waitress came to take our order when we had just received the menues, and then disappeared. We had to ask for her, to come back to take our order. I guess she was hiding in the back. The feta cheese in my omlet was not melted and had no flavor,(cheap cheese) !and I asked for them to cook the onions well. PS they were still cruchy. Apon recieving the bill we noticed we were over charged for the less than medioca omelet. The cook came from the back to tell us it was for the extra work he had to do. How lazy and unprofessional .He was nasty and rude to say the least. Them told us to go across the street. And thats what we all do in Montauk. What charge high prices and then nickel and dime the patron. I will never go back.

Typical Montauk breakfast. Long lines but move reasonably. Cash only. Also, as usual, the only real complaint is the over entitled 27 year old bimbo’s who aren’t nearly as cute as they think they are with serious control issues lying to try to get around the wait but hey, Montauk is now Far East Hampton…

None of the poor reviews make sense to me. This place has incredibly friendly and hilarious servers who were very accommodating. My friends came in at ten on a Saturday and got a table for 8 quickly with two pushed together. Then the rest of us arrived and oops, we were 13, which I know is so annoying. No problem! A server hoisted a small table across the room over his shoulders and brought it over to make room. They didn’t give us any hassle at all for being hungover idiots. The dishes are simple but just what you order, and well executed. A plate of banana pancakes saved my day.

We went there on Saturday morning and it was pretty empty. Low quality but highly overpriced food. I ordered eggs Benedict and one of the eggs was still raw… uncooked egg white kind of raw. The server offered me a new one but at that point my appetite was gone. Also, for the price I would expect at least a side of hash browns or home fries. The pancakes were just ok, I’ve had better before and they came with three tiny slices of beacon. The only reason I gave it a second star is because the service was friendly but our overall experience was rather disappointing.

Three stars is about right. Okay service, okay food and okay décor. If there were a line for this place I wouldn’t wait in it, but if you can walk in for a quick breakfast it is fine. The fly traps all along the ceiling were kind of a turn off.

Having breakfast at least once at a place like Anthony’s is a critical component of any outing, trip, vacation or journey to Montauk. It’s part of the firmament of Montauk, as inseparable as the sand, waves and wind. There’s never enough space during prime or shoulder season to wait indoors or to avoid a wait, for that matter. Expect spillover into the street and a host who will write down your name with a pencil and white notepad. There are always people who prefer not to eat at the counter which is fine by me as that space can be occupied by my pancake lusting self. You’ll find a fair mix of locals who have probably been dining at Anthony’s since it opened several decades ago, Manhattan families vacationing with their nannies and the influx of younger people likely to consult Unilocal and generally care about where their ingredients originate. Well, I can tell you that the cranberry juice is Ocean Spray and that this is the kind of place to suspend pretension, order a stack of pancakes and simply go with the ebb and flow of service that can range from lackluster to diligent. I wouldn’t bother ordering anything else but pancakes here. By all means add bacon or ham with your stack and even an egg but the pancake is the main attraction. I enjoy the banana nut along with the blueberry. A hearty size, the stack should satisfy the most hungry of appetites. Portions are large so plan accordingly. At times the breakfast waits in the Village of Montauk can become disturbingly long and Anthony’s is no exception. During an out of prime season weekend, it’s a much more manageable experience and recommended.

I am extremely skeptical about any positive reviews here. Many of them just don’t make sense or line up with the facts. This place is TERRIBLE!!! One of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Tiny portions Canned veggies WAY over-priced Terrible service(rotten, really). After trying to politely ask about things and explain our issues, the waitress literally told us not to come back! Don’t bother checking them out. Go across the street to John’s Pancake House and have a much better experience(we ate there the morning before coming here, and the differences were drastic).
