Wine of the Month Club

Blech! Nasty, cheap wine! I’m not a very picky wine drinker and can enjoy a two buck chuck from Trader Joe’s but this stuff is just bad.
Let’s hope I can cancel easily because from what I read they make it almost impossible to cancel.

I’ve been getting just reds. I really love it. Honestly I was hesitant to sign up at first, but everything they’ve sent has been a real treat to try, and there is nowhere with better customer service. Sometimes the first bottle can be a bit more than retail — it’s not that high if you consider it’s being sent to you directly, but the savings on the repeats is an awesome deal. I don’t really think I’ve reviewed this kind of service before, but I was so impressed I thought I would. Great way to get your significant other drunk enough to tell you their secrets (but it’s wine, so it’s not obvious.)

I was given the wine of the month club as a Christmas gift Dec 2014. I stopped receiving my shipments in Feb due to a problem shipping to IL. I emailed several times for the next several months and was sent a «form letter» response every time. When I asked why a form response I no longer received answers to my emails. I have received one shipment since Feb and have now been told they will resume in Sept. I will believe it when I receive it. I’m glad I didn’t pay for it and would never order anything from this company.

My husband and I have a very large wine Cellar in our B&B, so I am always looking for new wines. The customer service was very nice, the marketing very slick… the wine… not so much. Also After doing some research I have found that their «retail Pricing» is waaaaayyyyyy over priced. One bottle that was supposed to retail for $ 35, with a reorder price of $ 9.99 (wow what a savings!) But as it would turn out I can but it locally for $ 11.00 with no shipping and wine searcher lists it’s nationally average price at $ 16.00.
I found that odd so I researched several bottles with the same results. To be honest, I don’t like the wine, and I don’t like being snowed.

Wife likes Reds, so we have our membership tailored to ship Reds only. We have the Vintners series, get two bottles per month, and use this to supplement our regular wine buying locally here in NorCal. Best part about the club is having them send something totally unheard of, and then having the experience of trying it out. If you like it, the re-​order prices are heavily discounted. If your really think it is bad (and we haven’t gotten something so bad that we wouldn’t drink it) they guarantee and will ship another selection.
They also send a list of clearance selections each month, and these at times are priced way below what I have seen in stores locally. All in all, a good club… give it a try.

The Best gift I ever gave myself! Back in the 80s I ran into this older gentleman (compared to me at the time) in the Commerce Bldg of a rural county fair in Southern California. As wine choices in the area were not great, certainly nothing like they are now, his «club» made great sense to me. He would preselect a red and a white wine each month priced under $ 20 (often lower, when they get a great deal), packaged up with a write-​up on the 2 wines and wineries plus some suitable recipes, and Brown them to me on the ranch.
It has been around 20 years, now. I no longer live in CA. Son Paul is now running the Club. Still every month a new surprise arrives to transports me to someplace new around the World of Wine.
I have never received a bad wine, nor one that was not well worth double the WOMC price. One Hot August, Brown and I had a problem connecting for several days. The red turned in the Heat. I mentioned it during a call with WOMC on a separate issue. They immediately replaced that bottle.
Is the 2 wine monthly shipment the best part? Or the recipes? Or the offers for heavily discounted re-​orders of a wine you already know you like? Good questions. I really enjoy it all.
I have recommended the Club to all of my wine enjoying friends. Some, unfortunately, live is ‘protectionist’ or ‘blue law’ states. But, those in modern states enjoy their monthly surprises.
New wine available next month — bring it on. Sip well!

I like wine and I appreciate clever messaging, but even Yellow Tail is a step up from this wine. Maybe it was a bad month?

I have never been so extremely disappointed. The company made promises they could not keep and on top of that charged my credit card when I specifically told them to cancel my order. If I could give a negative amount of stars I would! Be conscious the company seems much larger than it is; although they allow customers to order from across the U.S., there is seemingly only one manager to cover all purchases, refunds, etc. Val, the only manager around, would talk in circles about how he wanted to accommodate me and when I asked for a both partial and full refunds he said that was not an option. I ended up disputing the charge on my credit card until they refunded me two weeks later. His attempt to reflect customer service was mediocre and even that is an overstatement. This was supposed to be a surprise gift but the shipping company they use constantly called the recipient when she wasn’t home (I specifically asked that they arrive during the evening to account for San Fran traffic, etc). Alas, no luck with the incompetent staff of three. To the gentleman from the company that keeps offering 100% customer satisfaction on my post, I would rather not engage your poor business skills and take my $ 100 to the liquor store. A simple birthday gift gone horribly wrong. Never again!

I was looking for a certain wine for a while and was able to find it here. I ordered the item online and picked-​up the bottle. The customer service was pretty awesome and the staff that helped me out was really friendly. I’ve recommended my other friends to go there also and I will definitely purchase more wine bottles here in the future.

We’ve been customers for years and have enjoyed many unusual wines, and the people here. A miscommunication has been addressed, and that shows me that this is not just a wine club for people, but people serving wine lovers like us! Thanks Val for your help and assistance. We look forward to many more years to come.

This is a great wine club but I wasn’t so sure at first though. I subscribed to the classic series but my first shipment was a bottle short. I was a bit upset but I emailed Paul (owner) and let him know what happened and he emailed back within a day and sent out a new two bottle shipment and said to keep the first bottle for the mistake. Woo Hoo… 3 bottles for the price of two makes me a happy camper. When I finally got around to trying my selections (zinfandel and syrah) I found they were just my style.
I may just be a Wine of the Month Club member for life!

I’m sure this is a great club, but I sure got off to a bad start! I ordered this $ 650 membership intended as a surprise Christmas gift. I told the customer service rep that this was supposed to be a surprise. To my surprise, the company immediately shipped the first bottles to the recipient’s home! So, now no surprise gift for the recipient to open at our holiday luncheon. In addition, the recipient was immediately inundated with e-​mails from the company. My advice — If you want this to be a surprise, don’t give the company the recipient’s e-​mail or physical addresses until you are ready for them to hear from the company. No chance to surprise someone when dealing with this company!

As I sit on my front porch enjoying a nice glass of «French Cabernet» from the Wine of the Month Club (WOM), all I can think of how fortunate I am to come across them. I had tried about 3 other wine clubs and they never measured up. The best thing I like about WOM is their great customer service and honest business practice. Paul (the owner) really goes out and tastes these wines. He is a real wine connoisseur and very accessible. He gets back to you immediately with any questions. You can also follow him on Facebook.
I have only disliked one (personal preference) out of over 200 wines and they exchanged it without a hitch. I have been a member for over 3 years and I have enjoyed wines from all over the world including wines from our backyard (Napa, Paso Robles, etc.) I started at the Classic level the first year, moved up to the Vintner’s; and finally moved to the limited level. The cost for the wines are very reasonable for the quality you get.
It is really a wine club for everyone… beginners to experts.
James is my wine guy. He takes care of all my orders. I was fortunate to run into him when I stopped into there store in Monrovia last week. He helped me pick out almost 2 cases. He answered all my questions. All the staff are super friendly and helpful.
Well, enough about wine. Thank you WOM club for all your great wines and always taking care of me. I will see you at your annual fundraiser event (philanthropist as well) in the Spring. As I take my last sip of my wine… I’m off to Italy for a week. Ciao!

Love these guys. The wines run the gamut. I once got some I did not like and they made good on the shipment. But most of the time I discover inexpensive, lovely wines in reds and whites that I enjoy, and occasionally I find some great buys that I share and brag about.
I have also enjoyed the Vintiners Series.
wine should be enjoyed and this is a great place to discover all kinds.
They are a joy to work with and I have been a member for years.

The bf and I joined the wine club while we were visiting the Orange County Fair. I give three stars for customer service because they were excellent and very friendly. FedEx delivered our first shipment to the incorrect address and Michelle at WOMC sent me a new package right away. No questions asked, which was really cool.
We finally received the first shipment one red and one white and neither of us was really happy with the selection. The white wine kind of reminded me of 2 buck chuck. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I just don’t care for it. The red wine was not any better. This was the regular series. We will wait for our Vintners Series next month to decide if we will keep the membership.

Wine of the Month Club rocks, I joined back in 1997 for a year and then rejoined three years ago. I love the Vintiners Series, I get two bottles a month for about $ 35 bucks and get pleasantly surprised each month with great wines.
My friends are amazed at the quality of wines I get, and have signed a few of them up as members too.
