I enjoy going to the barbershop with my husband and watching him get his haircut. This shop has a really cool vibe, always playing good Doo wop and all staff has been friendly. Definitely a locals and regulars type of place, but I like that.

I called these guys to make an appointment, after reading reviews about how busy they were on weekends.
Busy is good!
Made an appointment for 1130 with Max, showed up 5 min early and was seated by Max at about 1140. Not bad at all considering the place was packed. (make an appointment)
First cut with a new barber always starts a bit awkward for me… but within a few minuets, we were chatting, as well as with some of the other barbers; The atmosphere is awesome!
And
The best haircut I have ever had by far. Max you’re the man! I will be back!

So just moved to the area and needed a place for hair cuts and u saw this place on Unilocal.I am happy that I did, they did a great job and everyone is so chill here. Definitely has that old school barber shop feel, where everyone knows each other and is able to relax. Also cuts start at 15.00 so I am happy. Price does increase on weekends though to 16.00 and it gets crowded.

I went in for the first time today and got my hair cut by Max. I showed him a picture as a reference and he said, alright. I noticed a few other guys show a picture on their phone as reference to the barbers and each time I saw the barber nod in approval, meaning that they could do the cut in the pic.
The shop is really nicely decorated. It was a nice treat when I walked in and the shop was freshly air conditioned. Everyone is friendly here and no profanity or foolish talk is spoken here. It’s a classy gentleman’s shop.
All the guys here did a great job cutting their customer’s hair and i will definitely be returning from now on.

For a classic barbershop experience and no hassle haircuts, look no further than Old Town Monrovia Barber Shop. I’m a busy guy, and definitely appreciate the Sunday hours these guys provide. Me and my sons take advantage of this regularly! Never disappointed and always sharp when we leave. The vintage vibe and great tunes are always a fun part of the experience these master barbers provide. Thank you so much for taking care of us!

First time in the shop on my lunch break. Love the classic vibe of the place, good music, proper shop! Got my haircut which was done with style, good chat with the barber dude in the cabby hat, forgot his name. Will definitely be back, cant wait to take my 4 year old son so he can experience the barber shop way!

Worst haircut ever, and I had some bad ones in my life; 19 bucks thrown in the trash.
So when the guy’s done, I look in the mirror and see he left one side, on the back round, the other square. Then he forgot I told him to cut only half an inch from the top. Noticed my hair was really uneven, then went to the car and realized he had totally f*cked up my hair. Went back and the guy, who either has a very short term memory, or just was high, couldn’t remember he had just cut my hair a couple of minutes ago. The other guy insisted the original guy fix it for me– since he was a «master» barber, but since he couldn’t see what was wrong with it I just went somewhere else — though the other guy too offered to fix it. Was I offered a refund… no! Ended up having it cut really short –somewhere else — to fix that mess.

Monrovia Old Town Barber is truly a Monrovia staple and tradition for the residents of the town. But hey, you don’t have to live in Monrovia to get a quality men’s hairstyle! Gabriel and the guys are all highly skilled and friendly barbers. I regularly get the Side Part just the way I like it, with the low taper. Did I mention the atmosphere?! The Old Timey feel of the place is worth the visit alone.

Vintage décor, oldies playing on the radio, and super-​friendly service is what you can expect here.
Walk-​ins are always welcomed, but to avoid the wait, call and ask for Max. He will complete the experience with a shave, haircut and shoulder massage. He’s great at working around your schedule and definitely knows his way around the chair.
I’ve been getting my hair cut for over 30 years, and Max’s taper cut is by far the cleanest.
Highly recommend!

My new favorite barber shop! I have frequented the cookie-​cutter, mass-​chain salons like Great Clips & Supercuts for years & never realized there were some pretty authentic, old-​fashioned barber shops in the area.
This location is right near the Krikorian in Old Town Monrovia, open since 1962. How cool is that? There’s plenty of parking so it’s easy to get to the shop.
Walking into the shop is like stepping back in time. Everything looks original or is a reproduction that perfectly matches the ‘60s vibe from when this place opened. It’s very true to its form, with the chairs facing the waiting area, so everyone can talk to each other.
Each professional barber is a master of their craft and very open to doing what you ask and/​or giving some great opinions on some new styles.
I didn’t realize that this place is CASH ONLY, so I quickly went to a nearby bank & got cash. For $ 15, I got a meticulously well-​done haircut and I will 100% be back.
