BLT Sandwich it’s simple just what it says but this restaurant makes the best! Perfect. Very fast service during lunch time. Sometimes service can vary but today it was quick and courteous. Always my favorite place when I’m just Schlepping around town. I’m not Jewish but they have the best words. My favorite is when they have turkey dinners here. It’s seasonal but you can ask for open face turkey dinner and it’s almost the same thing.

I went to The Monrovian with my wife and son yesterday for an early dinner. The service was okay, although not terribly fast. I ordered the chicken fried steak dinner. The salad was quite good. The chicken-fried steak itself was not bad, but not outstanding. The potatoes and gravy were lukewarm. The vegetables were unseasoned. I ate everything but I did not particularly enjoy it. My son has the chicken-fried steak breakfast. He said it was pretty good. My wife had a club sandwich. She said it was not bad. She also ordered a side of coleslaw. She did not eat it. It was way too sweet, as if sugar has been added. I would go back to this restaurant if somebody invited me. But I would not choose to go back myself.

First the good things, the waitresses are always friendly and quick to please. The food is ok nothing special. The décor really needs updating, we sat at a booth by the windows last time and could see termite damage on the window sill. Now my main complaint is with the hostess, she either is the owner or related to them. Because she is so very rude, no personality what so ever and all together grumpy. Never a friendly smile or «hi how are you today» NOTHING! Really a bad way to start off a Saturday or Sunday morning!

They have breakfast all day! I ordered the #3 Breakfast Special, which comes with 3 links of sausage or 3 strips of bacon(I picked sausage), eggs(sunny side up for me!), and a waffle. My God, it comes with the largest waffle I’ve seen. I honestly was not expecting it to be that ginormous. Very fulfilling and filling for $ 8.49! BF ordered the polish sausage and eggs($ 8.79). Instead of toast, he opted for a pancake(no extra charge). The pancake was also huge. And very fluffy. And very filling. His polish sausages were extremely flavorful, more so than the sausage that came with my order. Our server was great. She made sure BF’s coffee cup didn’t go empty and came around every so often to keep an eye on how we’re doing. I know some reviews compare this place to Denny’s, but the quality here is better. While main seating is on the first floor, they have a banquet room available above that takes up the entire second floor. That was my first experience at the Monrovian Family Restaurant. I was here for an installation late lunch/early dinner upstairs. The entrance is separate from inside the first floor; you enter outside at a door right next to their front door off Myrtle. Their catering menu is pretty good — I had tri-tip, turkey, pasta salad, seasoned veggies, and dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed it and this is coming from me having had a full dim sum lunch mere minutes before, meaning I wasn’t judging the Monrovian’s catering with hungry eyes and stomach. The upstairs space is regularly used by the Monrovia Kiwanis for their weekly Thursday lunch meeting. The Monrovian Family Restaurant has their own dedicated parking lot in the back. There is also street parking along the main and side streets of Old Town. Coming in around noon time on a weekend may be a parking struggle, but spots do open up if you don’t mind a slight wait.

Much better than IHOP or Denny’s for the same price. Also, they have a full bar. They have the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. I have never had a bad experience with in the 10 years I have been eating here.

Nice family coffee shop. Great service, fast food prep and delicious food. Serving sizes are large and there was always some refilling our tea.

Came here for breakfast with the family. I am giving 2 stars, because after being seated it took 15min for a server to acknowledge us. Just to come by and ask if we wanted a water? Come on. Anyways I ordered some French toast, hash-browns, eggs and toast. The food was great with the exception of the eggs, they were watery. I won’t be back.

Oh man, this place is like Denny’s on steroids. Especially because the geriatrics flock here even without the 3.99 grandslam breakfast. Service was great, and the food was piled on. However, on a sidenote the coffee creamer was rotten. Luckily the server saw before we complained and she saved the day. Give Peggy a raise(I don’t even know if that’s her name lol) Order the salmon eggs benedict(i think that is what it is called) Omlets were good too. Zucchini fries were good, but why did I eat that for breakfast. This place is the shiznit, fat man thumbs up all the way.

Sadly I can only give this place 2 stars. The food is fair. The service is poor. Very unhappy waiters. Took half hour for someone to take our order it wasn’t till we asked if we were gonna get service that someone came. And the place wasn’t even busy.

Ugh. I go here because my grandparents loved it, and my uncle now loves it. I’ve really only had breakfast here. It’s always the same… bland, mediocre, tastes like Denny’s. I tried the chorizo and eggs once and it was horrible. The 2 stars are for the service, always nice and friendly to regulars…

Specials for breakfast lunch and dinner everyday. Hot food, good service, fast service, big portions. Prime rib on fridays. Country breakfast is awesome. Eggs Benedict is awesome. Different home made soups every day. Large menu, outside seating, banquet room. Dinner specials come with soup or salad and dessert. Home made dressings. Friendly staff. And they have the Dodgers on tv.

While the décor isn’t very up to date it’s still has a relaxing old school diner feel. There are flat screen TVs and what I like is the fact that’s it’s almost all booths which is awesome because I have a 2 year old. Food came promptly and service was great. Very nice staff and had an enjoyable time we will be back.

The lunch menu sandwiches were really bad. Dried and tasteless meat Ruben or green chili beef sandwich. We saw this place and walked in and ate outside. Inside was stale and filled with seniors. Outside the peopled order breakfast and it looked pretty good but it was noon so we had ordered sandwiches that was our second mistake our first was to pick this place. Service was okay the sever came and got our order but refills? Well the waitress came to refill the table next to us with a pitcher then she walks by and doesn’t even offer it to us. When I was a server I would have done that. She was training someone too. Then when we got or check he brings one to go box when we both only ate half of our food and had our onion rings? We won’t be back. Food was not good and service was okay. I could spends money somewhere else and get a better tasting plate

Where do I start? With the crack in my husband’s tea glass that slowly leaked all over the table or the fact that my salad plate was badly chipped in two places? Perhaps the bigger issue is that everyone in our group was rushing to the facilities within a half hour of driving away. My husband had eaten there about 20 years ago, and in the area and feeling nostalgic, I was okay to join him when he suggested a walk down memory lane. The service was not bad, the menu is varied, and the quality is unimaginative and probably pre-made by a restaurant supply entity. In reading other reviews, it seems the food gets a pass because the prices are good. However, when a Cobb salad is a failure because there is absolutely no flavor(even the bacon had no flavor), the management owes something of value to the customer. I assume the regulars support the place out of loyalty or habit, but we won’t be back.

After spending over 2 hours getting a car & signing the paperwork, we needed a quick family-friendly place for dinner. The Monrovian restaurant seems to have dedicated parking spots in a very crowded parking lot, so we decided to play by the rules, park there and commit to eating at the Monrovian. In reality, I’m not sure that anyone would have known if we had decided to have dinner somewhere else. The restaurant’s food gets a solid B. And that’s totally fine, since most dishes are in the $ 10 range. One thing that I was really happy about was that they serve breakfast all day, so I was in the mood for something slightly off the beaten path, since it’s not every day that you buy a car. The country breakfast was really good, with 2 biscuits & gravy with scrambled eggs & sausage. Mrs. C’s meal of salmon also came with clam chowder & dessert, so it was a great deal as a special. Our server was really nice. Somehow, the Monrovian restaurant exceeds Moffett’s in Arcadia on the geritol factor. I mean Geritol, with a capital«G.» Baby C got a lot of friendly waves as he ran around, and I can’t really say that I blame him, since he had been cooped up in a car dealership for 2+ hours.

Their breakfast burrito with chorizo is pretty delicious! It’s a full size burrito that comes with eggs, house potatoes, and cheese and is served with fresh fruit. I couldn’t finish my burrito… I came at noon on a Saturday and was seated immediately.

My friend from work and I came here for lunch last Friday. The hostess told us that we could order from the breakfast menu if we wanted(It’s served all day). I looked over the Lunch menu and it looked like a lot of the items were fried.(spicy fried chicken sandwich, fish tacos, burger etc.) I ended up ordering from the regular menu. We ordered: Iced tea $ 2.39 Coffee $ 1.99 ½ Turkey Sandwich with vegetable soup $ 8.69 Spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries $ 8.69 ========================== Total plus tax $ 23.72 FOOD: My turkey sandwich had actual slices of turkey breast and came with a slice of cheese and side of cranberry. I thought it tasted fine and reminded me of Thanksgiving, but my vegetable soup was bland so I had to add some black pepper to give it some flavor. I tried some of my friend’s sweet potato fries which were pretty good. My friend said her chicken sandwich was ok. SERVICE: The staff there was excellent in my opinion. We were greeted right away when we first walked in, a man took our drink orders a minute after we sat down, and our server Valerie checked up on us frequently and was always ready with refills. ATMOSPHERE: Although the restaurant has an «old town» feel, I’m not a fan of the pink booths or musty smell inside. I think we were also the«youngest» diners inside. This would be a place I’d definitely take my husband’s grandpa to eat. Overall, I would come here again since the service and prices were good. Since my friend forgot her wallet at the office, I paid for lunch and told her she was a «cheap date» LOL. I may order breakfast next time though. 146⁄100 Reviews for 2014

Perfect for what it is, don’t come in expecting a fancy meal or overly impressive décor. It’s one of those classic local restaurants that feels like home & delivers good food– fast & at a reasonable price. Staff has always been friendly & accommodating, they seat you fast, serve you fast, and have you out the door paid & done in no time. On the other hand their not gonna rush you out the door either so it’s perfect for any person. Classic menu filled with all types of American favorites and general diner type of foods. Everything I’ve ever tried here has been great. Burgers, sandwiches, soups you name it. If you have a large group it’s an easy spot to eat at because there’s something for everyone here.
