Great shellac manicure with Karen — She is personable and funny! Just wish they used OPI shellac nail polish for more color options. Shop could really use a remodel.

My hair is long and straight(not too tricky to work with), but it was pretty damaged and in serious need of a good cut. I scheduled an appointment with Carin and I’m thrilled with the cut. One of the things that she did was cut all of my hair to the same length to get out as much damage as possible, and then cut in fresh layers. This sounds obvious enough, but it’s actually pretty uncommon in my experience. It seems like reviews are hard to come by for salons in the Monroeville or Murrysville area, so I was happy to chat with my stylist about her experiences at different salons. I was also pleased to hear that the owner of Alfredo’s requires new stylists to showcase different cuts and colors before hiring them(again, something that seems obvious but is seriously lacking in this area). As for the salon itself, I wasn’t impressed with the space. It felt cramped and not as clean as possible. My haircut and stylist were incredibly professional, and I don’t think that the space necessarily reflects the same level of professionalism, especially as part of the Racquet Club space. But the service was friendly, and I was offered something to drink the second I was in the chair. They do allow you to add tip to your credit card as part of the cut fee, so that stylists aren’t shorted if you don’t carry cash. They also allow walk ins, and I was able to make a same-morning appointment. While $ 35 plus tip for a cut can be steep in the area(consider yourself spoiled, Monroeville), I really was thrilled with the great cut and pleased with the service and quality of the stylists. Unfortunately the space isn’t as awesome as the stylists, but I really would recommend Alfredo’s.
