Great food, very casual. We were on a road trip from Dallas to orange beach and stopped here for dinner. Great choice. We had dal makhani, aloo gobi, lamb bryani all very good. If back in Monroe will stop again.

Good food good prices — a real find in a small town Taste of India has good authentic cuisine — just like my mom makes and in Went there for a Friday Buffett Even better than it was 2 months ago with more deserts and more main dishes If you like Indian food best in a 200 mile radius

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Northeastern Louisiana. The lunch buffet menu is changed regularly so you can try different foods. Dinner is served off an extensive menu and will leave you pleasantly full. Anyone can wrap duck meat in bacon. It takes a lifetime to master the complex seasoning found in the«Indian» cuisine and they have. Don’t be afraid to try something new. It’s awesome.

The buffet is great for«beginners» to Indian food. Those serious about it come in the evening. The evening service is BRILLIANT. This place could stand on its own in much larger cities. The Mali Kofta and Gobi Manchuria are not to be missed.

I love Indian food and often look for it while traveling on business throughout the country. While I can’t say this was the best I’ve ever had(Columbia, MD wins that title), I was pleasantly surprised after two days of crappy chain-restaurant meals to find this gem. Of course the person taking my order over the phone was perplexed by the fact that I asked them to leave off the rice, but I’m used to that by now. I hate rice and don’t want to waste it. I never ask them to substitute it for anything, just to leave it off. The guy sounded super confused. But the food was solid. I got my usual — chicken tikka masala and chana masala with an order of garlic naan. While I wish all Indian restaurants would let me order the chana masala as a side instead of a whole meal, it’s never happened and I’m ok with it. I’ll order both. I got my order to go and when I got back to my hotel room 15 min later the food was still so hot it burned my mouth. So you might want to wait a minute. My only negative — the chicken tikka masala had a little too much cream. Not a deal-breaker, but I would have wanted it to be a little less creamy and a little more tomato-y. Still a solid choice.

We travel year-round, and my husband is Indian and vegetarian. So, eatable food is tough to find sometimes, particularly when we’re road tripping through the southern U.S. We have eaten A LOT of Indian food all over this country, and this husband and wife duo made the best we’ve had so far. And in Monroe, LA of all places. On top of the great food, we showed up half an hour before closing(which we hate to do, but we were out of options) and we still got great service and kind smiles. The naan was soft and flavorful and piping hot, the paneer korma and malai kofta were spot on, and the rice was fluffy and light. And the achar was clearly homemade and the best I’ve had aside from my husband’s Lakshmi Mami’s. Eat here! You won’t be sad!

Outstanding! We decided to venture into Monroe from I-20 on our trip to the Gulf Coast. It was well worth the detour. The veg-samosa was excellent. The chutneys were also good. We had the lamb Kadai and Saag paneer and it did not disappoint. The garlic naan may be some of the best we’ve ever had. Finished up with a bowl of rice pudding, also delicious. Service was friendly and prompt with reasonable prices. They have a decent wine list, and a nice selection of beer including a few from India. We will welcome the occasion to return to this authentic and most excellent find!

I’ll preface tjis by saying that we live in a part of Arkansas that allows us to easily drive to either Little Rock or Monroe. Last month our Indian restaurant in Little Rock went out of business. We have tried others but the don’t measure up. My husband found this place on another website and we decided to try it. I’m really glad we did. The food was hot, temperature and spice wise, the naan was yummy, the lady who waited on us was very nice. We will definitely be going back.

Driving back home to Texas and was looking for something local and good. This was a suprise. Did not expect an Indian restaurant much less a good one. The service was very good. The veg samosa had a good dose of curry but liked it a lot. The garlic naan was excellent. And our three entrees were excellent as well. Back on the road and still smiling! :-)

I’ve eaten here several times and loved it so much that I’ve had them cater some event(including a wedding that I helped to plan). It’s just good cooking and they never miss the mark. If you like Indian food, you will love their food. The place isn’t that attractive thought, but the service and quality of food is excellent

This is going to come as a shocker to the rest of the reviews on here but somebody had to speak up! Okay, they reuse the samosa dipping sauces. They just refill them in the kitchen and then send it off to the next table! YUCK! Don’t they know that people double-dip? I used to frequent here once or twice a month but now I am never going back. I peeked in the kitchen and saw that nobody in the kitchen even wears gloves or hairnets! One of my friends told me that she found a long black piece of hair in her rice!!! They put their hands over everything. I saw the owner fluff the rice with his own hands! Disgusting! Our waiter, who I think was from India or Nepal somewheres couldn’t even speak English that well. I asked him for a Diet Coke and he gave me a Sprite. I lost my appetite that day and couldn’t even finish my plate of food. What an eyeopener I had this week at Taste of India.

Having never tried Indian before, some co-workers from India insisted. So me and my Fiancée decided to try it out for lunch. The food is amazing. The food is made fresh, and the staff is very nice. It is an under-rated style of food in Monroe, but I am glad to see that seems to be doing well. I probably frequent it 1x — 2x a week.

It’s hard to find good, authentic ethnic cuisine in Monroe, but Taste of India is a real breath of fresh air. I went on Monday for the lunch buffet, and there was a good variety of dishes — saag paneer, channa masala, tandoori chicken, and a mushroom and chicken masala. All delicious. And you really can’t beat the price — at $ 9 a head during the week, it’s a much better deal than getting fast food(which will cost just as much). I’ll definitely be back.

I was surprised to find an Indian restaurant in Monroe(dono why, as I am not from here and don’t know the area) and so had to try it out. For some reason, I haven’t been able to find good Indian in NOLA and crave it every so often. It was good, real good. I got the basic, chicken tikka masala, which is what I always do when trying a new place. It was spiced perfectly and had a nice nutty flavor. The rice was nice and fluffy and the naan was perfectly crisp(I don’t like doughy naan). All in all, some of the best Indian I have had in LA. I didn’t try the buffet as that is not my thing, but everyone raves about it so give it a try. Overall you will be glad you tried this spot so do so!

I had the lunch buffet, and it was pretty good. The cashew rice and the chicken 65 was excellent. Great service. FYI-the lunch buffet is $ 9.95 on Saturday, and a dollar less during the week.

Great food! Nan is crazy good. Service is the best. The owners were kind enough to tell us about items on the buffet and suggest things for my child. Best time to dine is in the evening when you can order a couple of entrees with nan and share amongst your group. Great food and great atmosphere.
