It’s ok but a few better machines than the YMCA. The fact that I can go to any Retro is an added plus for me with this club.

DISGUSTINGLYFILTHYANDMANAGEMENT/OWNERS AREMONEYGRUBBINGDISLOYALCOMMUNITYMEMBERS. BBBHASBEENCONTACTED Over a year ago, I came here as a member of the community, as a new mother, I was looking for a place for myself where I could relax and work out as hard as I wanted and not worry about my child. A place that was clean and kind and put it’s customers first. A place with happy friendly staff that enjoyed their work. A place that didn’t want to nickel and dime an unemployed mother who needed release. A friend referred me to the gym, against my apprehension, and said that she uses it and brings her daughter there. I has already tried Golds and was unsure about signing up with them too but I was desperately seeking an escape and I needed it quickly. I gave it a go… The first REDFLAG was the place itself. It is all red and yellow all the time. They are all about efficiently using space so that they(the franchise) can maximize revenue while keeping energy and other maintenance costs down. I put all this aside because business is business and I get that. The second flag came when I saw their ad online on their official website which stated to come in and try a 30 day membership for free. I came in October and mentioned the ad. And boy was that silly. They ended up giving me the trial for 30 days as it was their error, but not switch out making it clear that this promotion was supposed to end in August, and making it seem like such a burden for them. The third red flag came from the owner herself. As a person of color I personally do not NEED to tan, however, it’s not to say that I wouldn’t be up for trying it at an additional cost. When signing up for enrollment Karen, considering my needs of child are services, was quick to accommodate and offered, «would you like to get the silver package and in lieu of tanning you would get child care? I don’t know too many people of color to use tanning.» Say what?! Yep. That was pretty much day one. But I am at the point in my life for giving chances. I gave them a chance anyway. Why. After three red flags did I continue to give them a chance? I was desperate. I signed up for a month to month contract where it was advertise that I could leave at any time, and basically kissed my money goodbye. The little bit of money I could scrape up to $ 31 a month. Some months I paid in quarter rolls. Other months in cash. Either way I paid. When I signed up there was a coupon Karen gave me for a free three months if you provide them a key tag from a competing gym. I did so and they wrote on the contract«3 free months at end of contract. «when I questioned the staff as to the procedures for those three months, figuring is leave as soon as they were up, they informed me that the free months are staggered between paid months. That it was standard procedure. And when I asked them to have Karen contact me they came back to me with«I am the manager and like I told you it is standard procedure.» Wow. Calm down. AS A BUSINESSIFSOMETHINGISSTANDARDPROCEDUREYOUSHOULDHAVEITWRITTENONTHECONTRACT, or anywhere for that matter. If it’s not in writing then how is it standard? Fourth red flag. They also gave me those three months consecutive at the end of my contract, after I replied that they need to hold up to their contractual obligations and that my lawyer would be in contact. Flag numer five. They did NOT honor their agreement, which was again presented to them face to face. A printed email from Karen Sheehan herself saying that the three months would be waived. They did not honor this. Flag number six. I handed in my two months notice that this relationship was NOT working and I did NOT visit the gym. The«free months» covered this point and I was out of contract before the three months(which were AFTERCONTRACTASSPECIFIEDBYTHEM) just to make sure, but again I have been harassed by ABC Financial. I owe this gym nothing. They owe the credit company. Karen and the manager need to contact ABC financial and hash it out amongst themselves, But I DONOTOWE A DIME. This harassment over a $ 31 monthly fee for which I jumped through every single hoop they’ve thrown at me. Now the charges are piling up and it is between Retro Fitness Franchise of Monroe, NY and ABC Financial. I have paid all that is due. Now do your part and leave me, and my credit, and my name, and my family ALONE! COMMUNITYMEMBERS do not use this gym. It is not as friendly as it appears to be. The owners and managers want to see healthy customers, but all you are to them are dollar signs. The equipment is dusty. For over a year the second shower stall’s bench seat sat un-repaired and the shower head stood tall at 4’5“while dust accumulated on the fans and machinery. Do not come here. Do not waste your money. Do NOT sign any contract. Spend the $ 31 a month at a national park instead.

First of all, the staff is super unorganized. The membership employee behind the desk asked a member to show me around for my tour, and boy did he ever! I didn’t even use my 3 days left of working out there. #1. Bathroom & locker rooms are filthy. Water drops everywhere and strange mysterious odors lurking that’ll make you wanna gag. #2. Everything is CLUTTERED! There are machines on top of machines, which means, people on top of people. If you have claustrophobia, this is not the place for you. AND, within this clusterfug of a gym, it reeks of B. O!!! #3. Their rooms to hold classes in is super small! My bedroom is bigger. But they assured me that I could go in there by myself and watch a big projector screen with someone training — not a live trainer, a video. I can do this at home! I wouldn’t even get a shake or drink there it’s so dirty. They need to expand the place, clean the place and best of all, not let meathead members show you around. As a female, I was guided to the free weight section as the«main event». No. The people I saw there were very young — not even above the age of 25 in my opinion. It looked more like a meat market and really turned me off to the entire concept of ever going to a gym again. I’m doing it at home. I will say, the Y is cleaner. It is bigger. It has better class options and trainers. The downside? KIDSKIDSKIDSKIDS everywhere. Can’t win around these parts.

UNREASONABLEOWNERSLINDA and KAREN– IDENTITYTHEFTSCAM– DON’T TRUSTTHEM W. YOURPERSONALINFO-HORRIBLEEXPERIENCE!!! I opened a membership when this franchise first opened. I referred 3 of my family members and about 5 other people to join. When I was relocating in December of 2011, I inquired about canceling my membership. I was informed by an employee(who I knew) that my membership was expiring at the end of December, therefore I did not have to do anything to request cancellation. I switched bank’s on December 28th2011 from KeyBank to Chase. One day in March, I received a phone call from ABC Financial advising they were attempting to collect a debt. When I discovered this was regarding a balance from retro fitness, I contacted the franchise owners Linda and Karen immediately to rectify the problem. The employee gave me incorrect information, openly ADMITTED to Karen that he had made a mistake in front of both of us. The employee was very apologetic and was accepting responsibility for his mistake. However, Karen refused to help me and was EXTREMELY rude and short with me. Both owners would not returning my phone calls and when I went there in person, Karen was ignoring me and advising the employees not to help me anymore. I left frustrated and appauled that a new businessowner would treat citizens of their own community this way. About a month later, I received a phone call from a # in India in which the person had ALLOFMYPERSONALINFORMATION including my FULLNAME and ADDRESS and old BANKACCOUNTINFO. I looked up this number on google and found this was a scam company that poses to be debt collectors and STEAL people’s IDENTITIES. They called me about 20 times per day even after I asked to not be contacted anymore. I HADTOBUYLIFELOCKTOPROTECTMYIDENTITY!!!($ 20/month).
