Ordered stuffed mushrooms, dinner portion. For $ 12 I received 4 medium sized mushroom caps with bready stuffing and little seafood, plopped on a bed of hard yellow rice. Thank God for the mini-salad and half cup of soup that went with it or I would have gone hungry.

This food is okay. It’s not that good and could be so much better and they need more friendly waitresses. The waitress that served us didn’t really check on us, but they definitely need someone to be more friendly.

No. I’ve been craving good diner food, this did not satisfy my craving. The knife on the table had food stuck to it, filthy. The cole slaw was terrible and the pickle tasted and looked like it was from a jar. The cheeseburger was gross, however, the fries were good. Good service and good French fries, that is all.

Went for breakfast with the family. French toast, mushroom and swiss omlet, and bacon and cheese omlet with a side of pancakes. Everything was good. Pancakes could have been a little fluffier, but were good. Could have used real mapke syrup, but many diners don’t. Service was friendly and our food came quickly.

Limited menu. Disappointing. Cafeteria food.(They serve Jello!) We have eaten at many diners. This one offered by far the least in variety and taste. They need to hire a new cook and better train the wait staff.

This place is just terrible. I will not be going back there ever again. I knew that people were complaining about this particular diner, but I decided to give them a try– what a mistake my family and I made. We ordered coffee(I simply could not finish mine– it tasted so bad, I think it was burnt), French fries(tasted bad as well), toast, omelette(tasted flat– they also charged me for swapping peppers for mushrooms, what a joke). My kids had bagels, I’m guessing they were okay. Everything was very expensive, across the street you have jake’s way back burgers where everything is done right and is much cheaper. Just don’t waste your time and money by dining there. I have been to a lot of diners in NY and NJ, but visiting this one means bad and overpriced food.

Average place… Nice due to renovation. Food is ok. It is pretty tasty. Lunch and dinner are the best. I did not find breakfast as good. It is a convenient place to meet with friends or for a quick meal.

Well, the Monroe Diner had a facelift, so we finally decided to give it another try. We went in for breakfast, figuring it’s such an easy meal to do well. What could be so hard? The good news is that the servers were very nice and friendly. The bad news is they can’t even do breakfast well. We ordered a grilled cheese with a side of hash browns, and a French toast platter that came with eggs and bacon. The grilled cheese was barely grilled and the hash browns weren’t really hot. Some of the French toast was barely dipped in the egg mixture and were hard, as if sitting on the griddle too long. The worst was the scrambled eggs, which were flat and hard. Scrambled eggs should be light and fluffy. I could give them lessons if they want. And they put a scoop of something that was probably supposed to be butter on top of the French toast, yuck! Instead of redoing the outside, they really need to take a look at what’s happening inside the kitchen. Maybe they should sign up for one of those restaurant intervention shows.

been going there for more than 30 years. last few times were very disappointing. prices increased by @ 30%, quality and quantity of the food not nearly what it used to be. all those renovations, and the parking lot is never full, the way it used to be. ordered corned beef sandwich, part of the meat was gray… who serves that to a customer? Unless something changes soon, they’ve lost us. What a shame, used to be the place to go. not any more and as a side note, what’s with new sign? I get the airplane reference because I live here, but you can barely read it. it looks ridiculous new generation is not keeping things that way dad and mom did, and it’s not working.

If you’ve never been to a diner or a good diner – then maybe you think this place is good. By diner standards, or any standards its really not and I didn’t enjoy my experience here at all. I came here for dinner with friends and we ordered calamari, cheese fries and a quesadilla. YUCK to all. The Calamari: Greasy, overcooked and tough. It really seems like a frozen boxed brand, because there’s no way its fresh. The Quesadilla: Soggy – and I don’t mean a little – it was so soggy that it was wet. We sent it back. The Cheese fries: You can’t go wrong here – how could they mess this up? They did. This was the worst of the three and its because of the cheese. You can tell they use packaged processed american and melt the slices on top – my fries literally tasted like the plastic wrapper. I wouldn’t recommend this place, nor would I come here again. Be warned.

This used to be an amazing place back when my family first moved to the area in ’96. Unfortunately, the passing of time has held no growth for the diner. Despite many changes over the years to the interior and exterior, the food has become worse and worse. What used to be a 24hr spot for drunk teenagers to get a huge portion of disco fries, the diner has turned into a monument to what was. Maybe it’s age, or maybe a change in dietary standards, but none the less, I haven’t stepped foot through the doors after a new generation of servers took over. My friends and I used to be greeted by the«moms» who fed us into all hours of the night, and treated us like family. Unfortunately, the new servers are either inattentive, poorly groomed, and sometimes perverted. It’s unfortunate that some of the staff find it appropriate to hit on underage girls in the middle of the day, or ever. It’s filth. Crumbs everywhere all the time, sticky floors, and musty bathrooms. Plus, the quality of the food is just not what it used to be. Cheese fries, once again, were actually a big part of every high schoolers’ idea of lunch or dinner. Now it’s just Kraft cheese slices thrown on a pile of soggy fries, then tossed in the broiler. The burgers are dry and flavorless. I’ve never been inclined to order any seafood. I do have to say, they make the best greek salad in the area. I just cannot justify going back after the skeevy, terrible experiences I have had.

Never repeat your mistakes. Looks like they are trying to recoup their remodeling bye gouging their customers. I ordered eggs with sausage. I couldn’t believe that they took one sausage and sliced it into 3 pieces. They think the customers are stupid? I told the waiter where is the sausage and all I got was a shoulder shrug. After paying around $ 11 I left there hungry and went to the deli near bye. I ordered Lox’s and a real coffee! They also shred their potatoes too make it look like you are getting more. The coffee is sub-par. People go there because there’s no competition as far as big and clean diners in the area. Avoid this place like the PLAGUE!!!

Not sure what to praise more — the incredible vegetarian corn chowder or crystal’s friendly service? Took a container of soup with me up to Omega, where I was taking a workshop, and enjoyed it as an early breakfast the next morning. But memories of how Crystal made me feel like a regular customer instead of a first time stranger? They’ll linger until my next visit!

I went here on a Saturday morning at 7AM for breakfast. Omelet prepared to order, not dry. Side of sausage disappointing. Before renovation they served nice large sausage links. Now they serve what appear to be the small previously frozen links which are completely tasteless. Previous comment by Mindy is spot on concerning the wait staff. While I was there, there were about three or four tables and the entire wait staff just stood around talking. They weren’t even that close to me but I could hear their conversations about days off and who was going to get the next table that walked through the door. At the time I was there, no one seemed to be in charge.

I really thought the remodel and relaunch would have changed up the cooks but it didn’t. I ordered a vegetable panini and a small house salad. My husband ordered pancakes. The salad came out and within a few minutes my husbands pancakes came out and so did a vegi burger… NOT what I ordered so she takes it away. Literally 5 minutes later the girl comes back and asks me to find it on the menu because she cannot. I point to it… my husband is almost done with his pancakes, which btw, is dry and tasteless. Panini comes out when my husband is finished with his meal and it was disgusting. The bill came out to over $ 30 as they charged me $ 8 for a salad!!! It was a tiny little salad, I blame myself for not asking the price and just assuming it would be less. We used to love this place about 10 years ago but since then it is just awful! Save yourself the time, money, and annoyance and go to Chester where they make good food.

Just had lunch. I asked for French onion soup… they said they can make onion soup, add the cheese in top! No thank you. The iced tea tasted like swimming pool water. The pastrami was extremely dry and the corned beef had absolutely no taste. Food was really quick to be brought out which leads me to assume things are pre-prepared /reheated back there. $ 30. For two Ruben sandwiches and two drinks! Wow we couldn’t wait to get outta there the place is kept like an icebox and needed to search the car for a fleece. After the remodel figured we’d see if anything had improved… nope. Don’t let the outside deceive you the food isn’t what it used to be back in the 90’s

Hopefully this place steps up it’s shit because it’s always been terrible. Terrible service and mediocre food. The owner also hates young people so he never cares if the wait staff is ignoring the young customers. Rude.
