Charlotte Monroe Executive Airport

Took another flight with my son who is a member of Fly Carolina an instructional business which also rents planes to members. Weather was clear, bright perfect.
The airport is immaculately clean and their services, such as refueling and maintenance are totally professional and efficient.
I especially like the receptionist counter which functions as a greeting, welcoming and service center. As the FAA mandates that pilots carry with them current maps and guides, the counter has all the latest publications on-​hand for sale at reasonable prices. In out case we needed a Charlotte Sectional map. It was there and cost $ 8.81 tax included.
Now-​a-​days the FAA allows Ipad and other electronic devices in lieu of paper maps and guides. OK… but many and most pilots also carry «hard copy» because if a battery runs out, the device malfunctions or there is not connectivity, you could be in trouble.
We flew a nice circle from Monroe around Davidson, where I taught an ROTC instructional tour and over out house, still there outside of Moresville. Then over and around Lake Norman to Shelby for lunch and then south along the west side of Charlotte back to Monroe.
A very nice day and the courtesy and convenience of the Monroe airport and staff remains to be outstanding.
