Mike Eckman – State Farm Insurance Agent

I got a quote from these people for auto insurance and renter’s insurance. The quote was 165/​month for liability, collision, and comprehensive auto insurance as well as renter’s insurance for my apartment. I paid for the first month and then a while later I got a bill that said I had agreed to pay over 340/​month. I went in and spoke with one of the employees about this and was told that their computer had made a mistake and my insurance would be higher because of a ticket that I got in 2013. I had discussed this ticket with the representative who I spoke with on the phone when I got the quote so obviously the person who told me that their computer made a mistake was lying to me. I then asked how much basic liability coverage would be and they quoted me 207/​month. This is a classic bait and switch and I really don’t appreciate being jerked around like this. If you agree to provide services to someone at a certain price, you are ethically obligated to provide those services at the agreed upon price. To do otherwise is to operate a business in an unethical manner. So, if you want auto insurance and you don’t feel like being lied to and having your time wasted, I’d recommend any agency other than this one. I’ve never encountered such blatant dishonesty when dealing with an insurance company.
