Smokey Bones BBQ

My kids and I ate at Smokey Bones this afternoon for lunch. It was wonderful! Definitely a welcomed change from the standard fast food burgers and sandwiches. My oldest son and I had the brisket sandwich. It was not short on portion size for sure! I put a little of the Smokey Bones BBQ sauce on mine for some extra goodness while my son ate his plain. My other son had the pulled pork which is his favorite food (he’s quite the pulled pork expert… lol) and he said «it’s awesome». My daughter had the hotdog option and ate it all!!! We will absolutely be coming back.

We visited Smokey Bones BBQ on a Wednesday evening, and overall we were pleased with our experience; although there is definitely room for improvement.
My wife and I split the «Whole Ranch», which comes with all of the standard meats they serve (pulled pork, brisket, chicken, pork ribs, sausage), along with your choice of sides. All of the meat options had great flavor, but the chicken and pulled pork were the only ones that really stood out as being excellent. The brisket was quite fatty, overcooked, and cut with the grain, and the pork ribs were dry with lots of silver skin.
All of the meats tasted a lot better with the addition of Smokey Bones’ homemade BBQ sauces, of course; and I really liked their spicy option.
I would have to say that I was disappointed with the sides all the way around. The portion sizes are quite small, and that might have been OK if they were really good, but they weren’t. The «BBQ Baked Beans» were not at all what comes to mind when I hear that name — they were not sweet at all, but rather had a chili-​like flavor to them. The bits of pulled pork in the beans were a nice touch, but the flavor just wasn’t there.
My son really liked his pulled pork sandwich after he figured out he needed to add his own BBQ sauce, although it would be nice to have the option of adding cole slaw to it. My daughter loved her all-​beef hot dog meal, and really wants to go back again sometime soon. Which means we will be giving them another try before too long…

The BBQ is excellent! Dinner rolls seemed like they were store bought and dry. The meat was great. Overall best place to eat in this part of town.
