Had an antique rocking chair refinished across the way at Mar-Lynn restorations. They did a beautiful job restoring the wood finish. The chair was then sent to Upholstery Creations to have the seat redone. I selected the fabric, which they had in stock. Well over a month went by with no word on the progress of the chair. My husband stopped in to check on it, and found the chair in a corner buried under a bunch of fabric. After a discussion with the owner, they had it done by the end of the week. Upon returning to pick up the chair, it had a big scratch on the arm and there were specks of blue paintings on it. The leather work was uneven with the tacks not evenly spaced around the seat. After voicing our displeasure with the job they had done, the chair was sent back to Mar-Lynn, where it had to be entirely stripped and refinished again. They were able to find someone else to reupholster the seat, and the finished product is absolutely beautiful. Bottom line – I would rather try to do it myself than bring anything back here.

I have been looking for an upholsterer for quite some time for my 80 tree Coupe. This guy was about two miles from my home, but oh so hard to find. I got a price from him and he told me that it would take a couple of weeks to get the fabric in for the headliner and then another couple for the installation. He was very reasonable and I came back with a check as they only take that or cash. But when I came back the price was mysteriously $ 75 dollars cheaper. When does that ever happen? About 1 month later I came in to ask about when this was going to happen. I did not call because I didn’t want to get the run around. He told me that the fabric just came in the day before. Right! So I brought the car in the next Monday and by Tuesday I had received a call to come pick it up. Fantastic job. Looks great and a good value. He is very forgetful though. Make sure you get everything in writing. This is more of a furniture place as he had to do my vehicle outside. The joint is full to the rafters of fabric from the day his rickshaw landed in Mokena. This place is behind the L.A. Café in the alley, but the same building. I also asked about a leather couch that the seams are coming apart. He told me that he would charge me by the hour and come to my home. WOW! House calls!
