Had a really bad experience here with Brian the owner. Never had a haircut this bad in my life and paid a lot for it. This place has a really cool vibe inside but Brian is not someone I would ever come back to. I regret giving Chop Shop a chance. He also made me really uncomfortable in the chair with what he wanted to talk about. Lots of profanity and talking bad about people. Very negative energy. Just a terrible experience all around. I have been looking for a new place to get my hair cut and thought Chop Shop would be fun but need to keep looking. If not for Brian this place would be great.

I got my haircut here for the first time yesterday. I was going to a big chain to get my haircut before, and after getting a different cut each time, even tho I would ask for the same thing, I knew it was time to find a professional! After reading reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give Brain a try, and he did not disappoint! The shop is awesome, and I showed Brian a picture of how I wanted my haircut, and he cut it better than the picture. I will only be coming here for my haircut from now on!

So impressed. Once I figured out the online scheduling it was a snap to get an appointment. I got exactly the haircut I wanted and it wasn’t crazy expensive. Johnny Cash on the speaker, cool décor, a husband/​wife team obviously crazy about each other, who really, really like what they do and who are really, really good at it. Does it get any better than that? Also, I’m no kid, but the day after my haircut was the FIRST time anybody ever said to me «Great haircut. Where’d you get it?»

Brian and Rachel are both amazing! The shop is in a great location, it’s always clean, and I love the décor. Both are highly skilled and trained and you will not be disappointed with your service.

I recently moved and needed to find a new barber. My old barber of 7 years was from Albania (or somewhere there about), didn’t speak English, never knew my name. Best friend I ever had. So I took a Unilocal gamble and found the chop shop. Some points:
1. Book Online. I assume it streamlines the process and you’ll get a confirmation email.
2. Though I don’t care for décor, this place feels manly and rugged. Clean and welcoming. I would recommend my girlfriend getting her hair cut by I’m assuming Brian’s wife. Actually, there were more women there during my first visit.
3. Brian takes his time and understands what you want. I was very pleased with my haircut. You won’t be part of the Supercuts assembly line.
4. You get all this for the same price of Supercuts/​Great Clips/​Sport Clips, etc. And you get a discount if you’re a new customer.

Been seeing Brian for the past 9 – 12 months and I never have any intention on finding another barber. I am very picky about who cuts my hair and he tops them all. From the excellent atmosphere, which he has kept true even in moving locations, to the ease of conversation, this is the place to go. He is master of his craft and certainly knows how to make a someone feel good about their cut. He provides a great comfort level and makes you feel as if you’re with a good friend. Conversing over a funny topic, all while watching some some rat rods or something interesting on the TV. You get the whole package here, so if your looking for that one cut to change your life, here is the place.

My husband has known Brian for years and gets his cuts ALWAYS at the chop shop! We also have chosen the chop shop as the only place to go for an awesome one of a kind cut for our two year old son! Great service, great hospitality in an awesome grunge badass salon! 5 stars!

Just got my haircut again today at the Chop Shop Barbershop. This is the new permanent location, it’s located by Denny’s, right off of Lagrange in Mokena. Second time having Brian cut my hair and just like the first time it was a great experience. Super nice dude, great hair cut at a killer price. The first time I went he was still operating in the basement but now he’s got his own legit storefront and it looks great. For the price of a haircut from super cuts or great clips I can get my haircut at Chop Shop by a guy who specializes in guy’s hair and has been doing it exclusively for years. Will definitely be back.
