Had a groupon tried using it in richton park on Mother’s day couldn’t. So I chose to try the other location in Mokena. The first time was last Saturday… We walk in for lunch at the paper on the front of the hostess booth said no coupons till after 3. So we decide to leave. In the mean time the girl behind the register says to us … Anywhere… I repeat Anywhere she said yes. I said we were gonna use groupon but can’t… So we will be back. The next day I had the minimum of 4ppl for the coupon so we planned on taking my mom there. When I looked up directions I noticed they were now closed. They close at 2pm on Sunday. My husband works all week… So I contacted groupon and explained the situation and they refunded my account. So happy I was able to get a refund… Because it was becoming next to impossible to be able to use it conveniently. If it’s anything like the one in Richton park I am so happy groupon gave me a credit.

We have had a gift card since Christmas. For a small $ 10 and we have tried using this gift card 2x since Christmas during Breakfast and both times have been unable to use it because none of the girls know how to check it on the machine. Not only that, but the service sucks. Do NOT go on a weekend for Breakfast. It’s so not organized! You ask for something the girls roll their eyes, our food has been cold both times, and I’m afraid to even say anything so I eat ¼ of it and bring the rest home when I can heat it up. I’ve never left a small tip, but both times I’ve only tipped 15%. Screw the gift card. I’m going to just waste it! Not worth it! I don’t know what happened to this location, it used to be so good!

This was my first time back after a bad experience many years ago. I am happy to say this time was very good. My son and I ordered shrimp fajitas. They were the best ones I have had as compared to all of the others in the area. The quality of the food is very good. The service is very good as well. I am hopefully optimistic that my faith in this place is restored. We need another good diner style Mexican eatery in this area as others are definitely going in the wrong direction in quality. Another good thing about this place is that the menu is larger and has a variety of many things not offered by the other competitors in the area.
The place itself is nothing special from the outside or inside. It is clean and a casual atmosphere. Keep up the good work!

We called for takeout last week and they refused to make the guacamole without tomatoes. They claimed they were «too busy». Too busy to cater to a customer’s reasonable request?
Foods good, but we’ll be ordering elsewhere from now on.
By the way, we’ve been faithful customers for nearly 10 years.

It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food and service is wonderful. We go there a lot and have never had a bad experience. They have great breakfast too without the wait! Truly a hidden gem!

Groupon Users Not Welcome! Why did they even have a Groupon if they’re going to be so mean about you using it? I went in there two different times in which they told me that I could not use my Groupon. One was Valentine’s Day ok understandable (but not in the fine print) I just paid and save the Groupon for later, and another was just a normal day but the end she would not let me use the Groupon because she said I ordered lunch and the lunch is cheaper than dinner?! WTF there is nothing in the fine print that says anything about holidays or lunch or any of that. I then told her that I wanted to speak to the manager in which she said the manager is not here. I told her she has to accept it there is nothing in the fine print about any of this and I’ve already paid for it and been here twice and not been able to use it. She kept calling it a coupon. I had to explain to her that this is not a coupon this is something that I have already paid for. The argument ensued she refused to call the manager and in the end I gave my information and told her to have the manager call me «I never received a call) and I refused to pay. She then just ask me to leave and said she would pay for it herself. That’s not what I asked for or want?! Why should the waitress pay for it? Why can’t you just accept the damn Groupon that you guys are selling and I already paid for? And what’s the big deal why can’t you call the manager to sort this out?
Previous to that experience I did have good service and I did have good food. But that definitely ruined it for me.
To make matters worse. We tried to go in there about a year later and the same waitress recognized us and came up and was unspeakably rude. The manager was around and didn’t say anything. She walked right up to the table and said hey «do you remember me the one that you didn’t pay» And then she asked «do you have a Groupon to use now?» At that point we were basically forced to get up and walk out and not eat there. The manager saw everything and did not do anything. The place was pretty crowded all the other customers saw this waitress acting like that. Not only was this horrible business but it was embarrassing to us as well. I will never recommend them again to anybody and I will tell everybody about the experience that I had because it was so ignorant.
I would suggest that management try and reach out to me to fix this. Myself and my family had been going there for years since they only had the New Lenox location. We’ve had countless family dinners there with 12 + people. What a big amount of business for them to lose because of a poor Groupon policy and a ridiculously rude waitress that’s allowed to do whatever she wants with no repercussions or regard to customers or the business. I would never allow that type of customer engagement at my place of business. This particular waitress can be described as older, dark complexion, and a distinctive mole on its face.

This place wasnt bad. It was just unremarkable. Not the cleanest place in the world. But not dirty or worrysome. The décor rivals restaurants in farming communities — 4 walls, tables, chairs, a couple of whatever on the wall, and a pumpkin on the door. The food was good but bland. The service was okay. It was like the whole place was built for efficiency and not actually to serve customers

We to LA Café last night and it was the ABSOLUTE WORST! The waitress was extremely rude, unfriendly, and unengaged. I don’t know her name because she didn’t have on a name tag, but she appeared to have one false eye; it was big and didn’t move; that’s how I’ll describe her.
When my children and I arrived we sat in a booth, then the waitress came over and asked for our drink order. I wanted horchata, they didn’t have it, so I asked for water. I went to the restroom and came back to a pitcher of ice water and 4 little dingy cups stacked on one another. She didn’t even bother to pour the darn water! That’s when we should have left, but we didn’t. I asked for styrofoam cups she brought back 2… there are 4 if us, I asked for 2 more. She was obviously very annoyed by this. She put chips and salsa on the table with no serving plates, my son had to ask for those; there are 4 people at a table why wouldn’t you bring plates w/​the chips and salsa??? I tell you I’ve NEVER seen or experienced worst service! Moving on, we order, our food comes out… the meat was salty, the tacos were dry, had to ask for more salsa, the refried beans were whole pinto beans NOT smashed! Needless to say no one finished or enjoyed their food. While we were eating she never came back to check on us, I had to wave her down for the check. Ok, she brings the check and walks away, I get my card and we wait for her to return for payment. It seemed like she wasn’t coming back over so when I saw her again I asked do we pay at the register and she said yes… WTF didn’t this jack ass say that when she brought the check over??? We get up, go to the register and I pay EXACTLY the check amount, she didn’t deserve nor was she getting anything extra from me. While leaving my children and I notice her shaking her head looking at us. I could care less about her shaking her head, what she needs to do is some reevaluation of that evening and what she could have done differently. Tips are earned, she didn’t earn one from me. Never going back there!

Beware if you use a groupon they aren’t very nice. The waitress seemed mad we did. You can’t eat off any of the specials menu either. They also charge for extra chips and salsa. I believe it’s because we had a groupon. Food was fine — use to go there without a groupon and had way better service. The low rating is just for groupon users. Be aware.

The food was good, the potatoes were even better. The coffee was very weak. Our waitress was not so good. My husband asked for a suggestion on the menu and her answer was, «Whatever you want «, no help at all. She was very young but should be trained in customer service.

Tried LA Café for lunch. Overall everything was ok. The food was good, not great, and the pricing was reasonable. The only real issue I have is that their website does not include the full menu which means I could not call my order in ahead of time. Also, they have no printed to go menus so that means if I return, I still will be unable to call my order in before I get there. Waiting for a to go order is bothersome so I might not return.

I do not see why people are giving this place more than 1 star. It was so horrible. We walked in and saw the «please wait to be seated sign» but then were told to sit where ever we wanted. We waited nearly 10 minutes before someone came over with menus. OH man the menu. Nothing made sense. I just wanted a burrito but you had to look all over the place in different sections. When she brought the chips and salsa, I could see that the chips were burned but they actually weren’t so bad. The salsa was ok, I’ve had far better. I ended up ordering a giant steak burrito, when it came I was kind of blown away by the size. I took one bite of it and didn’t want another bite but I was so hungry at that point. I barely ate any of it and then tried the beans and rice, they were equally as terrible. No flavor whatsoever. The steak in my burrito was just god awful. The ONLY good thing about this place was the margarita was pretty good and only 5 bucks. NOTHING will convince me to try this place again.

Others prefer the traditional Huevos Rancheros breakfast, but sign me up for their steak taco’s. Flavoring is impeccable. These taco’s make my tastebuds celebrate in a way I never imagined. Maybe I’ll pick some up today for lunch. Side bar: I heard their coffee is real weak.

The food at LA Café is usually above average but there is ALWAYS a hassle using any coupons whether it is Entertainment Book or Groupon. The explanation is that you can’t use them on Specials. If everything at Lunch is a special then no coupons work.

I’ve been back to LA Café a few more times now and I am happy to say the service has been much better and the chips were fresh. All of my entrees have been tasty. I especially enjoyed the fajitas and the price is right! I’m upping my rating to four stars as this has become our go to local spot.

As far as real Mexican restaurants are concerned, this place is actually pretty good. It serves authentic and tasty Mexican food at an affordable price with great service. Portions and quality are very good and only on rare occasion have I ever gotten something I wasn’t satisfied with. The salsa here is actually pretty outstanding, and may be the best salsa I’ve ever had. More often than not we order a quart of the salsa for parties at home, and people are always commenting on how amazing it is. Other recommendations are the combo fajitas and the enchiladas.

Their food is okay we come here mostly for the breakfast specials! Everything comes out quick, service is usually very good. Their food is just okay though, nothing too special about it.

I just had lunch here with the kiddies. The food was good. I had the mini burrito and the enchilada with rice and beans for 4.95. Good price and food was good. My son had the kids burger and he liked it. My daughter had 2 chicken taco lunch and my youngest rocked the chicken nuggets. Free chips and salsa to start. My only beef was that the place smelled a little musty. I have had the catering in the past and it was good as well. Nice option in the lincoln way area.

This is comfort Mexican food for me. It is familiar with tacos, chips, salsa and the rice and beans. I am sure Rick Bayless does great things with Mexican food but I am glad he is not the chef here.
I want the traditional Chicago way of doing Mexican when I go out for Mexican and Los Angeles Café does exactly that. The giant burritos are great, the breakfast is hearty and the fajitas are big enough to share.
When I want something different I go with the Shrimp al Mojo and it is always excellent.
Want familiar, comfortable and tasty Mexican food, come here. You won’t be sorry.

What was the question? Does it really matter, isn’t the answer always Mexican food?
In this case the question was where to eat the night before Thanksgiving? L.A. Café was perfect — small and intimate and real Mexican food. A real Mexican restaurant has coke in glass bottles imported from Mexico, even had it before it was so easy to pick up at Costco. You can also tell how authentic this place is if you come for lunch around 1:00 when Fullers Car Wash personnel are here for lunch.
My husband had the Shrimp Al Mojo which he adores and has nearly every time we come here. My daughter and I had steak tacos, the best anywhere in the land. Delicioso. We started with Cheese Quesadillas, real Mexican coke, their freshly made salsa and chips. Great meal with fabulous service and a
coupon, olé.
