Ok, yah it’s a café, but a darn good one! breakfast and brunch are some of my favorite things in the world; I’ve been everywhere from those diners off the highway to places that serve omelettes with truffles and caviar. Staff was on top of everything and didn’t let the crazy busyness affect how great of a job and how friendly They were. I was visiting my parents in the hometown I grew up in this weekend, and we went here for breakfast today. I got eggs Benedict with fresh mushrooms spinach and tomatoes and onions sautéed between the crispy english muffin and a perfectly poached egg. I asked for the hollandaise sauce on the side, because many times, it’s broken. Absolutely not the case here! Also had cream of Chicken and rice(I’m a sucker for hommade soup), fruit and split turkey sausage with everyone. My dad had poached eggs, bacon, crispy potatoes and coffee, and he was extremely happy as well. But the star of the table, though, was my mom’s meal. I’m not really a pancake than whatsoever, but she got pumpkin pancakes. I don’t believe they’re always on the menu but if they are take my word for it and order them, for they’re little clouds of pumpkin pancake goodness. You’re welcome!

We eat here often and food is always fresh and wonderful. Love the omelettes but the salads, soups and lunches are also great. Wonderful staff and friendly place!

Don’t confuse this with the 191st Street location. This one is, from the outside, is a cute diner located next to the tracks in old downtown Mokena. The«cute» stops as soon as you walk in. Cramped, loud, and could use a lot more cleanliness. I watched as one of the waitresses(who doubles as bus) wiped the meal remnants, from a table full of children, onto the floor. Five minutes to get coffee. No flatware or napkins until we asked for them. Food was tasteless. Hash browns aren’t; they’re just warmed up potato chunks. Breakfast ham is diced lunch meat. Not a place that I would return to. Eggcetera Café in downtown Mokena needs a lot of work.

I am writing this about the restaurant on 191st, I didn’t see that one in my search. Anyway, we stopped in here after an exasperating experience at The Egg and I… in which we ended up walking out. Here, we were quickly seated and almost immediately given huge glasses of water, our orders were taken and the food arrived probably less that 10 minutes after our arrival. The food and service were excellent! The waitress was attentive and friendly. I’ll definitely be returning here. Oky— five stars with no second thoughts. We went here on a Sunday, the place was PACKED, but the service was STILL phenomenal. We were seated immediately, given water and coffee, and our order was taken within ten minutes. They were really busy, but our food arrived quickly, piping hot and delicious. They have a lot of unique pancakes and breads, my wife got an order of assorted pancakes which she raved about. I had the Lumberjack, three eggs, bacon, savory ham, sausage, hash browns and toast — delicious! We spotted the manager checking on the food as it popped up on the counter, he came by to ask us how everything was. This guy knows how to run an eating establishment, there are even newspapers available to read located in a rack by the cashier, we perused the Sunday paper while waiting for our food. This is my go to place for breakfast, I can’t say enough good things about this place, you have to experience it for yourself, somehow the crowd made the experience even more enjoyable! Everyone seemed happy, relaxed and cheerful. You never feel rushed, and there are plenty of cheerful gals eager to refill your coffee cup, the employees actually seem to enjoy their jobs! GO. TODAY. ENJOY!

The building is very cozy, charming, and the floors take you back to an older time. Love it. The trains come by but won’t bother your meal or conversation as it slows down enough to pick up passengers. Food was pretty good. Coffee was great and the waitress came by frequently to check on us. Parking was easy to find. We came on a Saturday morning and didn’t have to wait at all.

So today I decided to try somewhere new for breakfast. I regularly take the Mokena train into work and have regularly seen Eggcetera so I figured I would give it a try. Upon walking in, I noticed the tables were all occupied with the exception of one six person table. After speaking with the hostess, she stated it would be a ten minute wait. Rather than argue, I gave the hostess the benefit of the doubt. After waiting 12 minutes, another father walks in with his two children. Upon arrival, they are immediately seated at the six person table. Being that I was a party of two, I was frustrated to say the least that I had waited and still given the back burner to another family. Does my money spend any differently? What frustrated me even more, was that when I brought up that I took exception to their actions, I received a blank and dumbfounded stare. It is absurd that a place that appears so welcoming and endearing would blatantly disregard another patient family to accommodate someone else. I am also of Middle Eastern descent, but I would hope that would not have played a factor in the blatant and ignorant disregard to customer service.

Service great. In and out fast for a breakfast place. Only problem was the food I ordered was the traditional eggs benny. Not impressed. Bland, thick sauce barbarians dry and the grapefruit juice was bitter. Not worth $ 12 meal for breakfast.

Nice little place in town. Food is good and you get plenty of it. I always come away stuffed and the price will not break your wallet. The seating is a little lacking but you have to work with what you have.

There are two locations of this restaurant in Mokena. The restaurant seemed to be a favorite among locals, so I was excited to try this place out! I had the Traditional Eggs Benedict, which came with two poached eggs, Canadian bacon, English muffin, and with hollandaise sauce. My husband had the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs with a side of Biscuits & Sausage Gravy(the half order, as we had an order of 2 entrees). My dish was solid, and a very simple dish. My husband thought his dish was okay, but was not a fan of the sausage gravy as he wasn’t a fan of the flavors. The service was nice and the place was very cheery. I really like the chicken paintings on the wall. I’m glad I was able to check this place out! +Traditional Eggs Benedict +chicken art

Our family has been here a couple of time and we like the place. During my most recent visit, I had the egg white omelette with plenty of vegetables and a side of ham. Very solid breakfast. Wife had salad and the kids had pancakes. Everyone liked the food. I do like the coffee here. The service is fast and friendly and the prices seem reasonable. We will go back.

Delicious!!! Came on a Sunday after 12pm and it wasn’t overly crowded. Nice laid back atmosphere. We were seated immediately and offered coffee right away. Decent coffee and someone came around regularly to warm up our cups. Husband ordered the Rio Grande omelette and said it was incredibly good. I ordered the gingerbread pancake breakfast, which included eggs, hash browns and sausage or bacon. I ordered it with sausage. The entire plate was amazing! We were definitely impressed and happily full when we left(I took the pancakes home because I was so full and I can’t wait to eat them, just from the small taste I had when they were on my plate). Would definitely recommend!

Terrible food, terrible coffee. I order a skillet and the potatoes were uncooked, in the bottom of the plate, the food was watery, look like the potatoes were boiled, so disgusting, when you expect crispy nice cook potatoes. The regular coffee was so clear, don’t even taste like coffee and it gave me a terrible acidity. Second time there. Second bad experience. I will never come back.

I was only at this location once, by accident… but it was worth the Mokena tour. I ordered online, for the Mozzarella and Parmesan Grilled Cheese on Focaccia… OHMAN! This was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches of my life. I was in love. The sandwich was huge. The flavors were a magical blend of Italian joy. For no charge, you can sub out the fries and get soup, which was also awesome. I went to pick up my order, and the server was pleasant and welcoming. She made sure to invite me back to return, on purpose, though she apologized for my mistake in ordering online for the wrong location. Apparently this happens somewhat regularly.(Just make sure to click the right address, people. Learn from my mistake!) The interior of the restaurant, itself was really cute and homey. I would definitely return if I were in the Mokena area again.

Visited the Eggcetera café after purchasing a groupon. The place is quaint and clean. We went on a Friday morning and were seated immediately. The server was friendly and fast. I ordered the cinnamon swirl french toast, a half order of biscuits and gravy, and my husband ordered a skillet. The french toast was delicious, but a bit overpriced for the three little slices that I received. The biscuits and gravy were homemade and delicious. My husband didn’t have any complaints about his skillet(but really how can you mess that up?). Not sure we would go here again as we don’t go out to breakfast that often but this was decent food with good service.
