Very sad to say it is now closed =(I love the couple and their daughter, the food was good. And the prime rib they started on Fridays had quite the following. Sorry to say I don’t know exactly why they closed. But they are closed.

We were staying the night at Mokelumne Hill and there isn’t much there in the way of restaurants to choose from, but we read decent reviews on this place and it was convenient rather than drive to nearby Jackson where there were numerous restaurants. It was simple and comfortable, as we would expect. Our server was very pleasant. There were three of us and we decided to share fish and chips and the ortega cheeseburger since we were not extremely hungry and just wanted some food after our drive. Knowing we were sharing, our server brought us an extra plate and extra fries to go along with our meal. Both dishes were very good. We would have returned here for a meal the following day, but were away visiting other nearby towns during the day and wanted to try the restaurant at the Hotel Leger where we were staying at for dinner.

I was looking forward to eating here as I am a huge Fish & Chips person. They did not disappoint. i ordered the fish, prawn, & coleslaw(instead of chips). The batter was well flavored and the seafood was cooked to perfection. The coleslaw and the sauces were good too! I am going to eat here again! I ordered a hot fudge sundae but it was really just ice cream with chocolate syrup. Service was super friendly, we chatted a bit and she checked in regularly. Prices are reasonable and parking is easy! Make sure to stop by here on your way to there.

Solid American diner fare. When we were there, they had no beer on tap so I don’t feel they should call themselves an alehouse. More like a diner with a small bar at the entrance. Response: When we were there, the server said you didn’t have any beer on tap only bottles. She didn’t say anything about changing kegs or the like. We will give the place another shot. Update: Went to give them another shot and they appear to be out of business. To bad. I would have thought the location was good and the food wasn’t bad. Running out of options in Moke Hill.

Love the Way Station. The food is generous and always hot and good. The Fries are to die for and the menu is not over complex with plenty of options available. My personal favorite is the Avocado Burger with Jack Cheese. The wait staff is always friendly and eager to help.

CLOSEDNOW… This is a case of déjà vu all over again. There was a Wayfarer’s Station, I think it was, across from this location when we moved here, which the current owner tells me belonged to her mother. They also started the Peilican, in Jackson, which is still there. I like their décor, nice and clean, and appreciate their reasonable prices and Senior discount and today the Prawns and Chips and the Cod(in beer batter) were both really good. So was the onion soup, BUT, the soups are small, and the dinner salad is large, so might be a better choice if you’re really hungry. The beer selection is limited and there are a number of hamburgers, about a half dozen and also a Veggie Cheeseburger AND a turkey burger that I’m looking forward to trying. They have a couple of large salads and starters and have food to go. Check it out. Besides, let’s face it, there’s practically nothing else open for dinner for miles around.
