My partner and I wandered over to Renegade after getting a taste of their wine at the Ledger Hotel. We saw they had a groupon and stopped in. We had an absolutely lovely time. The owners are such nice people. They really spoiled us, and the wine was fantastic. We took a few bottles home as gifts. We will definitely be back!

We’ve gotten the opportunity to know Mark and Sue for a few years now. Mark is a heckuva winemaker, he is patient in explaining the trade and process. To both or their credit, they want to educate their visitors first, so they bring out wines and explain why things go with what, you walk out a lot smarter than when you went in. Sue do9es a lot of the pouring, and she shares stories and how the winery came to be. Plus they are great hosts, it will take you about 1 minute to want to order up food and sit down with them to converse. This is what family owned wineries need to emulate. Mark is making port, one of them is OMG, it is superb. His variety of reds is excellent, we just bought a case of Primotivo whihc is simply outstanding. the whites are really good, he adds a little zest, so for those who don’t normally like a white wine, try Renegade’s. Stop in here, Mark and Sue will entertain you and you will find some elegant wines.

Great place, great wine and awesome owners. Mark & Sue will make you feel like old friends from your first step through the door. Both are very knowledgable about wine and pairing. Mark is more then willing to give you a tour of what’s going on, and if your lucky he’ll do some barrel tasting with you. Every week they have a $ 5 Friday, any wine except Port is $ 5 a glass. Don’t pass up this hidden gem.

Driving along 49 and saw the sign as we turned off to check out old town Mokulumne Hill early Sunday morning. This is the real deal in wine tasting where you get to talk to the winemaker. Mark is patient and explains his wine making techniques and his sources for grapes. His wines are well balanced and food oriented. He experiments with blends like a chef with spices, mixing until he finds the right taste. Enjoyed all his wines and left with a couple of bottles. Because he didn’t have a label ready for one of them, he gave us a complimentary bottle of his Viognier. I drank it tonight first with some cheese and then a spicy chicken dinner. Definitely a good food wine!

Wonderful wine and wonderful owners! The owners were very friendly and the tasting room was very comfortable. The owner let us taste their Merlot from the barrel; said it would be bottled in the next week or so. It was delicious. I can’t wait to order it! We left with 4 bottles of wine and we joined their wine club.

I am proud to be the first to write of this brilliant spot tucked in the hills out side San Andreas. The wine maker and his wife run a very comfortable tasting room. The wines are thoughtfully made and show great promise. Complex is the main descriptive !
