What a beautiful morning to go on the new pathway. Lots of joggers and walkers and dog lovers. It’s a little cold out so come prepared. If you do bring your dog make sure it’s on a leash because there are a lot of dogs.

what a pleasant surprise to find in modesto. this and other things ive seen recently lead me to believe that modesto is a more progressive place and has a better quality of life than larger places like stockton and fresno. a good example of how to turn an eyesore(abandoned rail line) into an asset. clean, well-maintained, good visibility, plenty of benches and trees, passes thru safer neighborhoods with character. let the trees grow into a canopy and it will be 5 stars all the way.

This a great path for any occasion, whether going for a walk with the family or doing a vigorous run to burn off some calories. It’s quite long and very accommodating for pedestrians. If you plan going for a long walk at night I’d recommend bringing a flashlight, just in case. My only gripe is that bicyclist never stop at the stop signs! There are small stop signs put in place that are meant for those on the path who are riding a bike. Overall, I enjoy using this path. Stay to the right, kids! 4 stars.

We always luv riding our bikes on this trail, its clean(for now). A very nice way to travel North and South thru modesto. Its just too bad the city and the builders couldn’t get there act together and open up the rest of the north end of the trail, that’s been sitting there all finished and looking good for awhile now. But they won’t open due to the pavement being too rough or something stupid like that… So that’s why the 4 stars smh. Hurry up and I will change my review once I try it out =]

This a great little trail that runs through the middle of Modesto. It’s pancake flat and has a packed sand running path along side it for most of its route. I’d give it 4 stars if getting current information about the trail wasn’t so frustratingly difficult to obtain. I noticed today that a new section is close to completion but haven’t been able to find any info on when this section opens online. Nor can I find a map that shows the currently open sections and the up coming sections. It would great if someone would generate a pdf map of the trail. Links to google maps for such things is such a lame way to go… For those interested, I found this:

The Virginia Corridor Trailway is one of the best paths in Modesto! This path is a converted railroad. The original path runs from Granger Ave to College Ave. But, it is being expanded. It now runs from College Ave, by MJC, to Bowen Ave, and in a month or so it will run all the way to Woodrow Ave. That is one block away from Standiford Ave. So, this trail is going to be long, and it is only going to get longer as the time goes by because there is more former railroad track area to convert. Why is this pathway awesome? First, it allows the residents in the area a walking path and bike path that is not on the street. This is a much safer way to travel, especially for bicyclists. Modesto is not the most bike friendly city, but this pathway helps. Second, this pathway goes all the way to downtown. Meaning, if you want to walk you dog to the dog park, then take this pathway. If you want a cup of coffee in the morning and some exercise, then take the pathway to O’Brien’s and get a starbucks coffee. If you want some Mexican food, and froyo, then walk eat it, and then walk it off when you’re walking home. Third, like I mentioned, this path is away from traffic. So, if you are walking somewhere, or biking it, you will get there faster taking this path. You don’t have to wait long at intersection, or at all. There is a bridge over Briggsmore, and crosswalks with flashing lights at all of the other ones. Fourth, in the older parts of this trail, the scenery is super nice. In the spring time there are golden poppies blooming all over the place. and the trees are getting much bigger. In the newer parts of the trail. they are planting tree, but they will take some time to grow. Also, there are some trees already established, so that make the view pretty good. Fifth. There are a bunch of different benches to sit at along the way, and tables too. So, grab a cup of coffee, and come with a friend, and prepare to catch up. Sixth, the path is generally clean. I would like to take the time to thank the people that actually care about this path. lastly, there is a play area for kids at the Morris intersection with the path. This is awesome because it gives parents a chance to walk with there kids, and it gives kids something to look forward to on the path. They used to have a little splash area, but since we are in a drought there is no chance of this happening for a while. The lesson out of this is to conserve you water. Overall, I love this path, and I hope Modesto puts more of these paths in around town. I think that it make Modesto a better community to live in, and it gives the community something to care about.

Nice clean trail for walkers, runners and even the bicycle enthusiasts. I recommend staying on the trail and just going back and forth on the pavement until your tired or the sun has set. The run up the little hill above Briggsmore gets ya going. After a run stop into O’Briens for a snack or into Appetéz for a cold one. The run isn’t hard but a cold beer can hit the spot. Lol.
