Five stars for the Grand Poo-bah of Motown… for organizing the very FIRSTEVERUYE in Modesto… and for picking the perfect spot. We had a secluded section of the back room all to ourselves. Thanks to Paul and his lovely wife we had some yummy and some ‘different’ choices of Chinese cuisine this evening. Starting off with deep-fried asparagus… we had a double order but we could have used twice as much! Some yummy stuff. Next course of some of the tastiest WonTon soup that I have ever had… so full of wonton and other delectable treats that you almost needed a fork instead of a spoon. Forget the chopsticks…I can’t shovel it in fast enough with those. Maybe if I would use those everyday I would lose weight! ;) The rest of the meal was fairly standard Chinese fare… but from what I understood, more to the true Chinese style than our Americanized version. Mongolian Beef, S/S pork, white rice, s/s chicken(i think), a vegetable dish that went untouched by me! So much for the standard fare… now for the different dish, we had chicken feet! omg I can’t believe I ate two of them. Certainly a different taste and experience. You do not eat them to fill up. They had less ‘meat’ on them then chicken wings! You kind of suck the bones… I don’t know how else to put it. For a few minutes I kind of felt like Anthony Anthony Bourdain! I have new-found respect for the guy… don’t know how he does it. For dessert they served a kind of coconut jello stuff… to «cleanse the palate»…I was told. How did he know that I really wanted to cleanse the chicken feet taste from my mouth. A great time was had by all. We were missing a few great Unilocalers from Modesto… maybe next time they can join us! Thank, Paul for a great evening!

The 5 stars is for the fantastic event Paul«Grand Exalted Poo-bah» M organized for the Central Valley Unilocalers that converged on Motown tonight! Let’s see, we had guests from as far away as Ventura and as close as Stockton. I’m told the food at Dynasty Garden is authentic Chinese so it was a first for me. I am more than likely accustomed to a version of Chinese that is a bit more Americanized… maybe from a different part of China as well? The highlight: The fried chicken feet; which by the way… I did try! It was a bit awkward picking one up with my chopsticks — deep fried and covered in breading and sauce– it seemed to be taunting me with it’s middle toe all the while! There was a strong anise flavor and fragrance which I was really not a fan of:(The Mongolian beef, not the star of the show like my favorite version I drive to Yosemite Street in the heart of Stockton for(China Village). I really enjoyed the won ton soup and the strange gelatin like square that tasted a bit like vanilla and coconut milk-did I mention it was ONTHEHOUSE? See guys, you need to mention Unilocal while eating out… it reaps big rewards! Paul, Linda, Jaime, Eric, Mr. X, Jennifer, Bob thank you Unilocalers for an intimate and fun UYE that I will not soon forget! Thank you grand Poo-bah; thank you Dynasty Garden!
