Don’t get the Chile Relleno! Chile relleno’s are filled with cheese and mine had nothing. Very disappointed.

I had the chicken chimichanga and it was excellent. Moist chicken and really cheesy. The salsa was bland and a little runny, as you can see .Not typical salsa for them. It didn’t have its usual spicy bite. Maybe it was an off night for the salsa, as it is made fresh. I’d recommend for a quick and filling meal.

Took my family here for lunch today until I used the restroom and found it with standing water/urine on the floor and NOSOAP in the dispenser. NO soap means that any of the cooks today are making food with unwashed hands. I took my family and left. Unacceptable for a restaurant!

All I wanted was a burrito. Simple not rocket science. I ordered the super burrito with guacamole, while berms, no cheese and sauce on the outside. I didn’t want it wet. What I got instead was a pile of rice with refried beans no guacamole with cheese on top of a tortilla. Looked nothing like a burrito. So disappointing.

The food here is usually good. I was disappointed that they were out of black beans during my visit though. The waitresses who helped us were nice, but a little awkward and nervous for some reason. This restaurant is nice if you’re in the area and want some decent Mexican food.

1st time trying it out. All 3 of us loved it. The only thing is they put way too much lemon/lime in the guacamole. That’s all I tasted. I had the enchiladas rojas, the sauce was on point. The flour chips mixed in with the corn chips were good. I love those way better. Definitely coming here again

service-ok price-ehh food– ok the food seems to be canned and lack of flavor. The food is not that good I’ve tried better. I would give this place one star but the service was alright. Would I go back? probably not, ill just pass

Always delicious fresh food. The staff is attentive and friendly: refills drinks promptly & asks if you need anything. My favorite dish is the quesadilla mazatlan(if I spelled correct). It’s a delicious shrimp quesadilla w/the sauce of your choice and sour cream + guacamole(and they don’t skimp on the shrimp) plus rice and beans. The chips and salsa are the best and they include some flour chips in the basket which is yummy little surprise. Like the cabbage with your chips? Just ask! I have tried many of the Mexican food restaurants in Modesto and I am telling you that the El Rosal/Damians restaurants are the best place to eat in town. You won’t be dissapointed!

Chicken enchilada with green sauce was fantastic! Pazole also delicious with just the right heat. Definitely worth a stop when driving on 99. Yum.

I have been going to El Rosal for years. They have the best chile verde. I don’t think I’ve eaten anything that wasn’t good here.

If I could put no stars i would, this resturaunt should be on kitchen nightmares the tv show! My husband and myself along with our daughter went their for dinner for the first time. As soon as I sat in a booth I sank and the booth bottom piece nearly slipped off and I only weigh 120 lbs. The place looked dirty and the menus were dirty as well. The food was the worst I prayed I wouldn’t get food poisoning later that night. The appetizer we got was the guacamole and chips and it came out super cold and tasted like it was made days before hand. My chicken tacos were dry and gross !!! My husband’s food was the same, and my daughter wouldn’t take more than 1 bit of her quesadilla although thats usually her favorite. I will never go back their again !

Meh. It was greasy and what you would expect from a hole in the wall place like this. It wasn’t bad, the chimichangas were good, but the beans and rice are something my kids could cook me. Also, 3 refills only til you have to pay again. I’ll pass next time.

300 reviews!!! Lunchtime… If you work in this area, you have numerous choices. Panda Depressed for those who want ‘Chinese,’ Costco and their hot dogs and chicken bakes(thank God school is back in session because the lines during lunch were incredibly long AND slow during the summer), and Baja Fresh. I do not like Baja Fresh. I don’t give a fuck if they are using fresh ingredients, their food still sucks. El Rosal. The Rose. I saw the rose months ago, but I was scared because of the location. I’ve been 3 times and I like their food MUCH better than Baja Flesh. The ladies in the back know what they are doing with fresh ingredients. While the food here isn’t legendary, it is what I prefer if I am hankering for Mexican in this area. My fave at this point is the Burrito Tropical. Carnitas, pineapple(don’t be afraid of flavor), guac, and a few other customary items that make me say, «Olé.» Quick tips: –Call in your order if you choose not to dine in. Trust me. Don’t wait inside the restaurant. It will seem like an eternity if you do. –If old school big paper bags scare you, don’t get your order to go. Dieters will run away in fear when they see the enormity of that paper bag for to go orders. Huge.

Stick to tully and standiford. We stopped here on a trip and were completely disappointed. We were the only table and ordered cheese enchilladas, for some reason it. took 20 min to come out which is rare for el rosal. The salsa was like water and the chips were over cooked. Tisk, tisk!

My favorite dish here is Modesto Meats… it’s a large plate. It has a carne asada steak, chicken breast and a pork chop with beans and rice. Trust me… you will be full! Come hungry!

I swore I commented on this place in the past. Perhaps it was eliminated becuase my silverware was so dirty, I waited forever to get an order taken and get food and the bathrooms stank and I rated it so low. Well today they did a good job, bathroom is clean and service is much better in fact great. The Mole tasted good not great, however the carnitas was finally served tender. Hopefully, this review won’t get erased like my previous one or the other negative Unilocaler reviews about this place that were erased. I am being nice today, can you tell? Oh yeah the lunch burrito was ginormous.

Being a regular to this place I can be a little bias. I have been coming back to this place for years and really gotten to know the ladies that work at this place. All of whom are real sweet and really friendly. Heck! I even run into the owner of all the chains from time to time around town. The food here is no different from any of the other El Rosal’s in this town so I guess that is saying alot. The food is just awesome and the prices are really decent at this joint. A must try if you live locally. And if you do… I’m suprised you haven’t already.
