We eat here every day during Senior Bowl week and the service and quality are 5-star.

Its considered home grown, higher end bakery, but I can’t classify it as such. Its a decent bakery, but a lot of there things are very heavy. The petite fours are nice, but i haven’t been impressed with a lot of the other items. Having lived in several large urban areas, has allowed me to try lots of different places, and this would not hold up in a lot of bigger areas, but its whats here and family has operated it for quite some time, so its a local favorite

I’m from Virginia and read reviews and Google reviews. There were a lot of negative comments. I experienced professional service and even tried some of their whit cake, delicious. I ordered a small wedding cake to be picked up in 3 days. If there is a problem I’ll advise. But I saw no evidence of poor service and delicious bake goods.

I used to love going to get food from Pollmans but I have to say this trip will be my last. I bought chicken salad which normally is wonderful but it was very dry and bland. The ham poboy bread was completely stale and no enough meat inside. The turkey poboy had more mayo than turkey and one soggy piece of lettuce that did not cover the sandwich. So you pay about $ 5 for stale bread and mayo versus good French bread and meat. By the way I got all this food at 9 am so there’s no excused for old food at a bakery. The two girls behind the counter were expressionless zombies that acted as if it was chore to help me when I was polite. The cookies were great which is about the only thing still good. I am extremely disappointed in the product inconsistency along with the very poor costumer service. Pollman’s has unfortunately gone down in their customer service and food products. I am extremely disappointed since I have been eating pollmans for 26 years and never had a problem with food and service till now.

The pastries are good, but the staff has very poor customer service. That’s the price you pay when you have children working behind the counter. I went to pick up a cake and all they did was stare at me and give me dirty looks while they just folded boxes when I asked to be helped. I’m pretty sure I saw them say a few nasty comments under their breath as I was standing right in front of them. If this happens to you, please call the manager and bring it to her attention. She is a very nice lady who is very concerned for her business and wants nothing but the best for her customers.

We love this bakery. I am a local business owner and drop by Pollman’s bakery regularly to buy treats for my clients. The cheese cake is delicious!

Some of the reviews shown are very old and may have been when the family sold the bakery to someone else who did a poor job. They bought it back! I grew up with Pollmans and love it. They are always eager to please and their cookies, the ambrosia cake is wonderful and so are the pies(chocolate and lemon). Go back but expect it to be crowded on a Friday at lunch! Everywhere is. They are great at doing catering items also like finger sandwiches, stuffed eggs and cheese straws. Rose is a dear.

Love their pretzel doughnuts. Their po boys are good too. I haven’t been going to them long enough to try their king cakes, but you can bet your sweet king cake that I’ll be there this Mardi Gras season for one.

I have a huge sweet tooth and wanted a treat, my husband(a local) told me about Pollmans. It was a Friday afternoon and the place was packed, I noticed that the bakery was a little run down, but I was fine with that. What I was not OK with, was the owners daughter and how rude she was to the workers who in turn, were rude to the customers. I stood in line and ordered a couple things, a donut, a cupcake, sandwich, and a brownie. All of it was average, nothing stood out at all. It was over priced, and the workers rushed you along. I have NEVER been back. I Never will go back.

The best bakery in all of the land. I live 2000 miles away now but still get the cookies(and brownies. and cupcakes. and diet coke with crushed ice.) anytime I’m home.

This review is only about the oatmeal raisin cookies. Best in the world. They run out a lot. Everything else is OK for a bakery. I like their little roast beef sandwiches. Not fancy but fine for a quick lunch.

I don’t live in Mobile anymore, but I miss Pollman’s like crazy. There is nothing here in San Francisco or Oakland that is quite as good for iced cookies, petit fours, or brownies. I don’t usually like fudgy brownies, but Pollmans fudgy brownies are amazing with pecans and chocolate icing. Every now and then my mom will send me a little Pollman’s care package, super yum. As for the price, whenever I go to Pollman’s I don’t think it’s expensive, I guess because I’m used to the sub-par over-priced baked goods available in CA. Anyway, I usually call and see what the truck is bringing for the day so there aren’t any heartbreaks. As a side note, I have had the King Cake and I can’t say it’s my favorite. Also, my cousin got her cake and the groom’s cake from Pollman’s and they were perfect. Way tastier than any other Wedding cake i’ve ever had. Seriously, try the iced cookies. I think they are my favorites, no wait maybe it’s the petit fours, or the brownies… gawd how i miss this place.

I have only been there once, to get a small King cake. The service was somewhat unfriendly but I did get my little King cake that I had called ahead for. The cake itself was tasty and fun to eat! I am not from Mobile but was told that I should try one from this place. I got the overall impression that this place is all about tradition, a lot of places in Mobile should have gone out of business a long time ago but they are still there because of tradition. The business culture in Mobile is highly idiosyncratic and driven by a collective thinking(like everyone else goes there so I will too), traditional mentality. Especially in the«village» of Spring Hill. Just my outsider impressions.

Delicious food, especially the brownies. Unfortunaltly, the customer service was what spawned me to write this review. This is only for the Old Shell location and does not reflect the others. I went in this morning to get three dozen brownies for work. The lady who was standing at the counter did not acknowledge me at all. When I eventually got her attention she seemed less than enthused to be helping me, almost as if I was«bothering» her to do her job. When I asked if 13 of the brownies could be boxed separately for a present, she was very rude and acted like I was making some crazy request. It is rare I see such blatant horrible customer service, especially if I’m trying to be friendly. The food is good, the employees… not so much. The wedding cakes are nothing to write home about either, I had one made for my engagement party. The staff at the Broad Street branch were friendlier, I’ll give them that much though.

WONDERFUL bakery! King Cakes to die for during Mardi Gras season! Sort of expensive, so it’s not for every day.(But then how many people get bakery foods every day, anyway?) I ended up spending a small fortune buying cupcakes for my daughter’s class there once… as if(then-) first graders cared if they came from Pollman’s or the grocery store? HA! The teachers sure loved it, though. ;)
