Golden Bowl

This is the best Chinese food I’ve had in Mobile. It seems to me they use fresh ingredients. The lady that is always there is super friendly and does a great job promoting the place. I would place this restaurant several steps above your average Chinese takeout.

Owners are great people and food is as good as any other hibachi restaurant. I love this place!

This place is nice and affordable! They have a great menu, my husband and I go there just about every Friday and we’ve tried a lot of their dishes, they’re all good! I don’t know of anywhere else in mobile you can get hibachi that won’t break the bank, not to mention their regular dinner menu! Nowhere else can you get Thai, Korean, and Chinese dishes all at one restaurant! The owner, Angel, is as sweet as her name implies, and you can tell she’s passionate about her food. The staff is tidy, friendly, and will answer any questions you have about their food. Pretty much everything comes with the cold & hot bar, where they have freshly made sushi, soups, chicken satay, egg rolls and cheese won ton to hold you over until your food is ready. You owe it to yourself to check out this local gem! Try the Thai tea, and if you love seafood, make sure to try their Manila clam! It’s out of this world, and completely affordable! We love it here!

We love Asian Garden on Cottage Hill & Hillcrest, and we were very excited to learn that the original owner had opened Golden Bowl! Even though it is out of our neighborhood, we try to visit there as often as we can. The owner still knows my name and remembers our entire family each visit! Where else can you get a quick hibachi meal AND a buffet of crab wontons, egg drop soup, spring rolls and egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken and sushi? Please spread the word that Angel is so friendly and tries to do everything to make her customers happy! Plus the gift shop is a bonus! The building might look vacant, but inside is a warm and friendly atmosphere where you can eat without being rushed. Kids are welcome too, and they always enjoy the hibachi show.

So this is my second visit to Golden Bowl. My first visit was amazing. I was blown away by the lunch deal– $ 6.95 for a hot and cold buffet bar PLUS you order a dish off the menu. My first visit was great-​so much so I went back just a few days later and brought a friend. The first meal, the buffet was incredible. Tons of options and everything was fresh.
The second time, there was barely any food on the buffet bar and the food that was there was cold and looked very, very sad. The staff is always nice and you still can’t beat that deal but I would love it even more if the buffet was fresh!

Great food for a great price. We were just passing through mobile and went because of the reviews. Glad we did. We liked the hot and cold bar but there was no sushi for about 30 minutes when we were eating appetizers. Other than that, great

If you like Asian Garden off Cottage Hill Rd, you’d enjoy this restaurant. They’re the same owner. I ordered the General Tso’s chicken for lunch there and it was delicious. Only thing I didn’t like about the dish was the rice portion. Wished it came with more rice to balance out the chicken. For the price, you can’t really beat it. Overall I would still give this place 5 stars because they have great food and great service.

I’m spoiled on pan-​asian food. This place isn’t my favorite of all time, but it’s really the only suitable pan-​asian place in town. Being mostly vegetarian, it’s great that even though it’s not on the menu, tofu substitution is available. Their tofu is almost always perfect. The prices are great considering access to the hot and cold bars. Angel is a sweetheart, too. I bring friends here all the time, and none have been let down.
All restaurants can be hit and miss from time to time, but Golden Bowl is almost always right on for the money, the flavor, and the freshness. My favorite dish is the spicy eggplant with garlic sauce followed closely by the delightfully unorthodox pad thai, which veers more toward the savory than sweet side.
And just to point it out, since I missed them for the first year I ate here, there are three turtles that live in the fountain at the back of the main dining room. Go see for yourself =)

Very clean and amazingly great food and phenomenal prices! Very happy Unilocal reviewers suggested this place! Close to the Tesla Superchargers too. Hot and cold food bar included is really good too!

I had a party of 7 for lunch on Christmas Eve. This was our first visit here, so we were going by the reviews. It’s really beautiful inside and a lot of room for seating. The entrees come with the hot/​cold bar. The food came out really fast and fresh. We thought everything was wonderful and can’t wait to go back. Also, the service was excellent!

Went here a couple Fridays ago for takeout. The host greeted me quickly and took my order. I got chicken pad thai, it was really good, a little spicy, but I didn’t mind. The owner was really sweet and nice, she gave me some complimentary crab ragoons, spring rolls, and fortune cookies before I left. Will definitely be back.

I have had three experiences at golden bowl and only the first was ok. The first time I went I got take out and somewhat enjoyed it. However the second and third was not too good. The last two times I went the black pepper was burned on the steak and was poorly seasoned. The fried rice tasted and smelled like cigarette smoke, which I am not too keen on. This was somewhat surprising considering the reviews. Additionally the chicken on the buffet was very dry.
On a positive note the service was good and the prices are reasonable, but it doesn’t make sense to pay for food that is poorly made. However if you are close to death dying of hunger, this is a good place to dine in at, with the unlimited food. Although that does not seem to be too much of an issue in this area.
This being said I have not tried everything on the menu. So, maybe there are some good dishes that I might have missed. In my experience if a restaurant can’t do the simple dishes like fried rice well than all the rest of the dishes tend to be subpar.

We ate here when we were traveling through Mobil. They had very good service and the hibachi was just as good as I have had anywhere.
They even have a small gift shop. Win

Yummy! So to start this place is different then we read about, and though they offer sushi, it wasn’t good. BUT everything else was amazing. I had soup and salad with my California rolls and everything except the rolls tasted fabulous! My husband had the general Tso chicken with low mien, and he gave two thumbs up.
Food aside our visit was great because of the wonderful customer service, actually the best customer service I’ve had in a very long time. I really can’t wait to go again!

Came here with a party of five, the lady server was very nice to start and we ordered hibachi combos, Korean ribs, pad thai, and stir fry. Everything was great and the hot and cold bar buffet was a nice addition as well. The prices were surprisingly low and the food was delicious. From Florida where I’m from you pay 20 $ and up for hibachi. Here it’s 16.50 $, good deal.
Oh and they also had these cool selection of bamboo plants and various decorative novelty oriental pieces in the register area that was for sale. We bought three items for very cheap.

I decided to stop by after a coworker gave it a very high recommendation. I’ve been twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times, I was enthusiastically greeted and seated quickly. The prices are very reasonable, the quality is excellent, and everything is exceptionally clean.
Hibachi serving sizes are generous and comparable to other hibachi style restaurants I’ve visited. Unlimited trips to the soup, salad, and cold bar are included with the hibachi dinner. The selection on the bar is limited, but what’s there is good. The night I was there, I tried three different sushi rolls and the kimchi. Both visits, my glass was refilled promptly, and the employees and chef were all very polite. Lunch came promptly, and I was back at work in plenty of time. Also, both times, I was thanked warmly for coming as I left. The atmosphere is not luxurious, but I this place is definitely worth a visit.

Traveling through Mobile at lunchtime, saw the great reviews on Unilocal and decided to stop. So glad we did. The reviews were right. Friendly service, great, fresh food and very affordable price. We had a very enjoyable quick lunch without the regret of fast food. Thank you Unilocal

We are visiting our daughter at USA and found reviews for the GoldenBowl and we will be coming back often. We can’t say enough good things about our stop there today. You better go!
Added the next day– The left overs of our pepper steak is every bit as good on day two! Wish I had more

New restaurant, under new ownership, in the mall area. We tried out the stir fried udon noodle and the egg plant, both are super yummy. Especially the udon! The meal also come with wide variety of all-​u-​can-​eat soup, salad and appetizer.
Besides good food, we enjoyed the nice ambient and friendly people, highly recommended!
