Freshen’s

My Mango Beach smoothie was delicious, and, mid-​afternoon, it was a great pick-​me-​up. So that right there merits 4 stars for me. Quality cannot be underrated. However, the organization was not so great, and the wait time was a little bit ridiculous. After my order was taken, 3 – 4 more orders were taken, the people behind the counter were doing other things (one girl was stirring a vat of ranch dressing with an enormous whisk for 10 min. at least), and then someone finally got around to making my smoothie. Part of the problem is that the smoothie place is combined with a burrito place. Smoothies are quick and easy, but the build your own burrito model is really slowing things down on the smoothie side. I wish they just did smoothies and froyo and would ditch the burritos.

I appreciate that Freshens is one of the very few places in the union where you can get healthy options, and I like their smoothies… but… their wait times are OUT. OF. CONTROL. They only have two blenders, and sometimes only one, so just one or two people in line for smoothies leads to an exponential wait time. The same thing is true of ordering crepes; they only seem to have one guy prepping and cooking, so it takes a really long time, and the crepes are overcooked to the point of being crunchy.
