El Chile Relleno

My caldo de rez was old and sour tasting the fresh salsa really they say it’s fresh it was bubbling it’s smelled bad the cashier needs to put that frown up side down she looks like she really hates her job

Ok, so I tried the breakfast burrito this morning! Brought it to the shop and cut it into three pieces for my sisters and I. We all three agreed that it was awesome! Eggs cooked right. Bacon was crisp but not dry. I did not get sour cream or potatoes in mine because its to fattening! But I’m sure it would have been even better. They also have a very interesting salsa bar. It’s a tiny hole in the wall, but so far everything we have tried has been good…

Looked like a hole in the wall, but when my friend brought me tacos we were hooked. We get breakfast burritos and split them in half, they are bomb. I got the kids to eat Lengua tacos by not telling them, they loved them.
Since we live down the street, this is in the rotation for sure, good and reasonable prices. Kids like the meat or cheese quesadillas. We like just about everything we have ordered, tacos, fajitas plate, burritos, etc…

May look like a small «hole in the wall» but this restaurant has authentic Mexican food. Never judge a store by its looks.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant they have good food good service and very reasonable prices for south Orange County, and they also have Tuesday’s tacos. We love it.

The best carne asada burrito ever! No other place even compares. They also are super creative with their salsas. They have a super thick green sauce that is ultra spicy and its glorious!

Seriously delicious! Many places will make Chiles rellenos but they don’t always make them right. This place is called Chile relleno so I came in hoping I’d love their chiles rellenos. Gotta say I am pleasantly pleased. If you are in the area and you’d like chiles rellenos this is the place you wanna go.

Cheap, good Mexican food. The lady who works here always gets our order correct when we call in and has it ready to go when we arrive. The salsa is great! Wish there were more chips in the bags (because they are delicious and fresh). This is the best authentic Mexican place in the area and we have tried them all!

This place, taste wise is the best. Authentic Mexican food. Good price. The only negative is, it’s little unclean. Tables not cleaned after use. So far the food is the best.

Did not take brand new coupon from entertainment book only 3 weeks old good for 11 more months says owner does not accept it they are the only address on back oh just noticed they told someone same thing in 2014 !!! They are liars lol

The chicken in their burrito is so salty that it will trigger heart attacks. Using excessive salt is a common tactic to hide bad tasting or meats that are so old they have to be preserved with salt.
Their guacamole was good. Friendly staff. Hole in wall (Dive) with good pricing.

Loved this place! Tried it today for lunch and it was amazing! Very authentic and amazing Mexican food and an awesome salsa bar! They had various red and green sauces from mild to hot, but I loved their spicy avocado and the peanut salsa the best! Great prices and friendly staff! Definitely gotta take my hubby!

I am from San Diego so finding a good fast food Mex shop was imperative during my work stay. I went here based on reviews.
The food had good flavor. Chips were OK. I got the Carne Asada burrito and must admit I was surprised that it actually had beans, rice and cheese inside the burrito, along with guacamole and carne asada. Carne burrito loves be warned, most don’t come with beans and rice this does. But was still good.
The salsa bar was bomb! The peanut salsa is so good! The avocado salsa delish!
I’ll definitely go back. If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would.

I had the carnitas burrito and its some of the best carnitas i ever had. I also had the shrimp burrito and it was better than expected, the shrimp was cooked perfect… I highly recommend this place!

If you are looking for some authentic mexican food this is the place. Breakfast burritos are the best around with delicious hash brown eggs, sausage, bacon, cheese, hash browns and sour cream. Get the very red salsa on the side. Their salsa is home made and is soooo good!

Authentic, affordable, hole-​in-​the-​wall Mexican food! This is definitely not an Americanized or Chipotle-​like place.
The menu on the wall has a lot of options to choose from (almost like an eye exam with the small lettering). I ordered:
–Carne Asada and Pollo Asado grilled chicken soft taco: $ 1.50 each, 4.5 out of 5. These were so delicious, almost like taco truck street tacos. Definitely recommend the grilled chicken, which is one of the most tender chicken I’ve had in a taco.
–Chicken burrito: $ 5.99, 3.5 out of 5, it was good and filling, but just ok. There was overwhelmingly a lot of beans, in comparison to everything else.
–Horchata rice drink: $ 1.89 for regular (darn, should’ve gotten the larger size for $ 1.99), 5 out of 5. Mmmmm, so good and refreshing, with the perfect balance of rice flavor and sweetness.
–Complementary salsa (bar– self serve) and chips — again, fresh and delicious condiment to the tacos and burrito.

I usually get the breakfast burrito with hash browns and sausage and the Quesadilla Carne Asada. This time I got the Quesadilla Carnitas which was really good! I like their horchata here too. It’s not too sweet and their large drink is worth it.

I don’t know why this place has 4 stars… It’s not terrible but I’ve had better! 1 the place is called el chille relleno and they didn’t even have any. 2 we ordered a Cali burrito thinking safe go to and I guess it comes with fries and carne asada only. And most tables were dirty with old plates so we had to sit basically inside the bathroom to eat. RAD!

This is an authentic little Mexican joint. I ordered the ham and cheese quesadilla which was pretty good. It’s huge. I also ordered two of their beef tacos that were street like tacos. I liked them too. The salsas were tasty. I’ve been here twice and have liked my food both times… maybe because it was authentic and greasy! Haha There is limited seating but plenty of parking. Nice having an authentic place in South OC.

I’d give this place 3−½ stars overall, but since there aren’t any half star options, I’ll round it down to 3. I got the carnitas plate. I asked if it came with guacamole and the cashier said, «yes», but when I looked at the bill, she charged me .50 cents for it. As other reviewers wrote, be sure to check your bill. My husband got a 3 combo plate for $ 6.89 and they charged him $ 6.99. These are all small extra charges, but if they do that to everyone, then they are making out and cheating everyone, thus the 3 stars. The carnitas was good but a little on the dry side. This place is small with only 5 tables or so. It’s authentic Mexican food. Despite the fact that they overcharge, the prices are relatively cheap. Just make sure you double check your bill! They’re located in the Ralphs shopping center plaza next to Pizza Hut. Plenty of parking available.
