This is a small café/pizza place. Like most small Mom and Pop restaurants in small towns service can be slow etc. I agree with what everyone else said. Overall I was enjoying my experience until the check arrived. I ordered a calzone with two toppings for $ 12.95. When the bill came I was charged an additional $ 1 per topping but the menu said two toppings were included. The waitress explained it was a quirk of their system where it breaks individual items out and assigns a price. When I ordered I was thinking $ 13 was high for a calzone so I am sure the menu price was not $ 14.95. If you go remember what the menu said vs what shows up on the bill. My wife ordered a burger and was charged $ 7.99 for that plus $ 3 for fries she did not want but thought it was included. I believe for that one she was charged correctly. But the calzone… all the specialty ones were $ 12.95. How could my two topping one be $ 14.95?

Awful. exceedingly slow service, food that did come out was okay. Would definitely not recommend, wait till you get to the next town, unless you don’t care whether you eat.

Nom, Nom, Nom!!! I My bf found this place on Unilocal since we didn’t feel like cooking breakfast while camping in the Redwoods. Admittedly, I was a little doubtful to have breakfast there since they are known for their Italian dishes. Suffice it to say the sourdough french toast and their Eggs Benedict were YUMMY(real, unprocessed ham!!) and the hospitality is GREAT(very homely and down to Earth)!!! We sat ourselves outside and were attended to almost immediately. We actually went back to grab lunch before making our trek home and again we were not disappointed. These guys deliver consistently good food and service! This place is a little hidden gem. Buon Appetito!

I’m a big eggs Benedict fan and this place know how to do it right! The hollandaise sauce was amazing. The eggs were perfectly poached and the ham was real sliced ham! I also got the French toast(sour dough). It was very tasty. They will heat the syrup and their butter was even soft — not hard and cold right out of the fridge. That was a real bonus for me!

I’d had take out Pizza from here once, years ago, when they first opened. and it was delicious. But, I’d never actually gone there until last night. I’d asked around and a friend of mine said the food was great and the prices were right, so… Hubby and I were looking for a date night spot a little bit«out of town» and a little on the not so expensive side, so we decided to give it whirl. We’d just gotten off of work so it was pretty early. I’ve heard this place can get real busy so it was nice to just be able to walk in and grab a seat.(Hint. there’s no sign about seating or waiting to be seated so, just grab a seat anywhere. don’t stand around like I did!) The first thing I noticed was a french fry. Sitting on the wall divider next to us. As we left we saw many more on the floor. A little sweep up now and then would be good! But really, that was my only complaint! Service was swift and friendly. Hubby ordered a BLT and I got the Chicken Parmesan, which came with Soup or Salad and Garlic Bread. I tried Hubby’s fries and they were nice and crisp. He said his bacon was a little«rubbery» but, all in all, enjoyed his meal. My salad was nice and big, and very fresh. Now, Chicken Parmesan is one of my litmus dishes… sort of like Burgers(which they do have and we didn’t try). Either you can do Chicken Parm or you can’t and I’m happy to report, The Avenue Café makes a nice Chicken Parm! The Spaghetti was cooked to a perfect Al Dente and the Marinara was very tasty with nice little chunks of veg in it. It seemed very fresh! The chicken was breaded and fried nicely… nothing soggy… and the chicken was very tender.(No rubber chickens here!) And, thank the gods, they know how to treat cheese! The Mozzerella on top was soft and stringy… just what I’d expect from a place the specializes in Pizzas and Calzones! I can’t wait to go back for something else off their menu, and, I hear Breakfast is pretty good too! I’m looking forward to trying it out!

Literally drove out of my way to visit this place because it had good reviews only to find out that it was closed. If you’re going to say you’re open then be open. If you have changed your hours, update them.

I came here after a very long drive from Sequoia National Park. I ordered a sandwich and it was really fresh and tasted great. After seeing the employees making the calzones and pizza, I wish I had a enough room to eat some of those, too! The atmosphere is pretty cramped, but the food makes up for it.

Who knew that the one restaurant that was open and right across from our hotel would be so good! The whole family was happy after this meal. I really enjoyed the manicotti. Kids loved the pasta. Decent house wine. Reasonably priced. Only disappointment was that they were too busy for us so we had to skip the calzones. We would have gone back the next night, but they are closed on Sunday!

This place is the only one around for miles so they could get away with serving mediocre food — it’s not like people have much of a choice. But Avenue Café doesn’t do that at all. My boyfriend got the chorizo omelette and I got the Greek omelette. Both were enormous and delicious and came with thick, buttery slices of bread and the best homefries I’ve ever had. The waitresses were nice and personable. If you’re in the area, definitely stop in on your scenic drive.

Read reviews tried it out. Day one lunch I had chicken parm with side salad. Very little chicken mostly bread with sauce. Wife’s BLT was average no complaints. I left hungry. 2nd day tried lunch 15 inch romanuella? Pizza. Way Below average, 5 kalameta olives and cheese was rubbery I have never in 60 years had a pizza this greasy. with cokes and tip $ 33. Don’t be fooled by website photos pizza had nothing on it. I would pass on this one Pappy

So we are out in the woods in the middle of nowhere, and I get hungry. Some local guy in the Redwoods recommended this café off of 101. I was thinking that there was no way that there is a good place to eat in the middle of the woods. Thank God I was wrong. This place is VERY good, and super clean. The staff are very friendly. This restaurant would be successful in any location. If it was in a heavily-populated area, there would be a line out the door. If you are gluten free, they have gluten free options including gluten-free pizza. Their pizza oven is legit.

Great place to stop if you are doing the long drive up 101. I never knew this town was there and have been doing the drive for years and years. We were there on a nice sunny day and sat on the patio. I will surely stop here again in the years to come.

Stopped in here on my way back from hiking, and it was great! They’ve got a decent bar selection. I’m always one to love Crispin on draft. My boyfriend had a turkey and pesto sandwich and a bowl of clam chowder, and I had the veggie calzone. I loved that I could see them making my calzone, and it turned out delicious! Great for dipping in their marinara sauce. You could watch them make your pizza or calzone since they do it right behind the bar. My boyfriend loved the clam chowder. They do take out pizza as well!

Rustic little café tucked away in the town of Miranda as you pass through the Avenue of the Giants . Seems to be heavy on the Italian dishes but also serve up burgers and fries and sandwiches etc… For the location the food is pretty good. There isn’t much around this or the Garberville area… especially in the way of some sort of Italian. The pizza was good as were the wings . Their salad consisted of mixed greens and alot of frisee. So it’s not just a typical iceberg type salad you’d usually find in similar establishments. The italian dressing needed some work though… kind of had that Sysco/Wishbone gelatin type consistency and flavor. Their spaghetti was pretty basic… the marinara sauce was well seasoned. …a bit too herby for my tastes… had some chunks of carrots and zucchini in it. But overall… okay. Large beer selection is a plus! Outdoor seating as well. The servers were all very friendly, sweet and attentive! Nothing mindblowing or 5 star quality but good if you’re passing through and need a quick food fix and some beer and to maybe catch a game on their TV. Overall … i think if they focus on a bit more of a homemade approach to certain things or most things… this place could really be a diamond in the rough. As it stands now, it’s cubic zirconia in the rough . With that said… i WOULD come back when passing through to try more.

Cute little rustic place tucked away on the ave of giants. We ordered the spaghetti, wings and the Avenue pizza. Spaghetti was Ok. The sauce had chunks of carrot in it which I didn’t prefer. The wings were good. Nice hot wing sauce. Not the best but definitely a decent fix, and the pizza was flavorful. The complaint I have about the pizza though is that it could ha e been cooked a little longer. Because of all the toppings it got soggy quickly and you couldn’t hold a slice up. But good flavor! Stop by its worth the time.
