I recently called this company up to repair my refrigerator. Everything went well, and the technician came and replaced the evaporator fan. The complete job came out to $ 175. At first I thought this was extremely expensive, however, there’s no way of knowing unless you know exactly what’s wrong with your appliance prior to the technician showing up. Otherwise, you’d have to wait for the diagnosis, pay for the visit(the visits with them are $ 45 I believe) and then pay for another technician to come. This, of course, isn’t really feasible. The technician left, and I noticed he left the box for the replacement part. I looked online using the part number, and to my disgust, found that the part they installed in my fridge and charged so much for cost between $ 12.99 and $ 25 from various websites. It was a generic evaporator fan, nothing special about it. I was furious. I am a business man myself, and charging $ 175 for 20 minutes of work and $ 20 worth in parts is not only outrageous, but just wrong. I called the company and complained, and was promised a refund check. It never arrived. The woman attempted to argue that the part they installed costs $ 85 from the factory, to which I argued that I have the box the part came in, and this is neither a manufacturer’s part nor one that costs that much. She stayed quite and said she would talk to the manager. If it weren’t for the technician leaving the box, I would have been none the wiser. My fridge is working fine, so the evaporator fan really was the problem. I could have easily done the job myself(mind you, I have no refrigerator or appliance expertise) as I’ve opened it up several times to try and troubleshoot it, clean the coils, etc(most of the things I found online). Family owned business doesn’t mean honest. When technicians in various industries are going to replace parts or service something, they typically show you what you’re paying for. I understand a mark-up on parts(hey, we all have to make a living) but gouging customers is not the way to do it. I would rather go without a fridge than overpay for no better reason than greed. I will never use this company again and don’t suggest you do either.
