I was starving when I got there and chose to sit at the bar for quicker service. The bartender was nice. Brought out water fast and even a small bowl of croutons to stave off my hunger. My friend and I ordered a personal size pizza to share which was plenty for lunch. So the portions are good. But that’s about it for the good of the experience. The pizza is NOTGOOD! not only did it not have a good flavor but it was almost bad. The bartender tried to sell the watermelon beer as the best thing ever so my friend tried it and said it was terrible and was like a plain beer with a weird aftertaste. No watermelon flavor. Anyway we were disappointed with the pizza and beer. Also the menu is basic. No sandwiches. Salads are limited. Just not impressed.

This place was fabulous, we had the house salad for 4 and a meatball pepperoni and mushroom pizza and it was wonderful. The sangria was some of the best I’ve had.

One of the best Pizzas I have ever read had. The service at the bar was excellent! My only negative is the sizing of the pizza. A small is not really a small, small is a personal. Lots of extra for tomorrow’s breakfast! Highly recommend and I know my pizza. The Don is excellent and the four cheese is as well. Next time a smaller pie with fewer toppings to enjoy the sauce and crust.

Order the Don if you’re a meat lovers fan, it’s very good! The meatballs that come with it are quite large and flavorful. Greg the bartender was my server and he was extremely friendly and super attentive. I was on business travel so I ordered for one; the person size was more than enough, I could only finish two of the six slices. As others stated in their review the pizza is thin, wood-fired ‘type’ pizza. Very delicious!

Outstanding. We ordered the quattro formaggio pizza. The taste was incredible. The cheeses blended perfectly. No problems with service… we sat at the bar and received friendly service. The food arrived in a timely manner, not fast, but this isn’t a fast food joint! The price was reasonable for the food quality. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

Ate here when I was on vacation in Destin for Spring Break. Man it was so good. FRESH!!! The salads are good to. Salads are a bit pricey but they are sharable so ehhh. Only downfall was it took forever to get a refill and it wasn’t busy. Found one here in Houston though and I ordered to go

Local to the area and have been several times. At least an hour for food,… every time. Menu isn’t extensive so no excuse for long wait times. Even table near us complained. Will NOT be back again.

This place has a very nice décor that lends itself to casual dining. Not so great for romance, with mostly four-tops and no dark coves. The Caesar salad is good. The Margherita pizza was so-so, with not much going on, too little cheese, overcooked basil and a nice crunchy-chewy crust. For me it had a very bland flavor and didn’t excite, but it was alright. I guess I’ve just had way better, and I find it annoying when places skimp on ingredients… seriously, cheese is paper thin on a pizza not heavy on cheese to start with. I don’t even like cheesy pizza, but this one I could hardly tell it exosted. I digress. My hubby liked it alright lol.

Some of the best pizza I have ever had. Thin, crispy, and wonderful. Service was good, ambience was very nice, upscale for a pizza place, they do have outdoor seating which we used and enjoyed, and they have a nice beer and wine menu. My wife is not a huge pizza person and this is one of her favorites.

Excellent coal-fired brick oven pizza here. Not exactly NY, but it doesn’t matter, it’s good! There are plenty of seats, both indoors and out, and the atmosphere is definitely a side of traditional checkered picnic with a bit of old Sinatra class. The bar area is good size, and an excellent option if you’d like a pizza with your drink. I did what I always do with pizza — keep it simple — I ordered the four cheese and added roasted red peppers. I was glad I only got a small(16″) to share, as it’s more than enough for two people. The salads are gigantic, also plenty to share if you have room. The table next to me couldn’t finish their pizza and salad, so get ready! You won’t leave hungry. They also have a classic favorite of mine: plain NY cheesecake. And of course, I save the best for last,(in my case I had one before dinner and after…): a Latte. They make an excellent latte. It’s got just the right amount of foam, the perfect size mug, and it was so smooth I had to get a second one after dinner. I’d say it’s one of the best around. Good enough I wonder if they’re open for breakfast… Pizza. YUM!

Grimaldi’s is a national chain and this location is relatively new, so we came in for an impromptu meal. The facility is nice, you can watch the kitchen toss the dough, and the oven is right there. The staff, especially Sandy, were friendly and helpful. I had a couple glasses of the house pinot grigio and they were excellent and reasonably priced. We shared a large pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. They make a thin crust New York style pizza. There were a few burnt bubbles on the obverse but the reverse was fine. The ingredients were fresh. You will not find many mom and pop pizza joints in this part of the country, so even though this is a chain it is very close to authentic NY pizza.

We arrived to meet two of our friends for dinner. Having read Unilocal reviews I was intrigued as many of them sounded like whiny tourists who don’t understand what peak summer means. Well I was right. Our waitress was prompt and very thorough in her explanation of the menu as well as any additional questions. We ordered cocktails(unique to this location as most locations are beer and wine only) the Big Apple was awesome. We decided to skip appetizers and go for salad. Again, our waitress was very helpful in pointing out that the large caesar salad would be sufficient for 4 adults also eating pizza. The caesar was right on the money and almost too much. On to pizza, another issue on many of the reviews seems to be the price of toppings. I stop at 4 at most, but prefer a pizza to be fairly simple. We decided on the Brooklyn Bridge and The Don for dinner. We chose the small which is the medium size. We all ate until full and still had two slices left over. We are not light eaters either. We also got a cannoli for dessert and this is definitely something 4 adults can squeeze into already full stomachs. All in all if you’re looking for New York style pizza in the Destin and Santa Rosa Beach areas this can’t be beat. Can’t wait to try the Calzone!

The interior is nicely done and service was good. For pizza you choose between pesto, red or white sauce-the size you would like and a la carte for all toppings. If I added everything I would like to my personal size pizza(12 inch) it would cost roughly $ 30. Because I don’t want to spend that much on lunch I probably missed out. I simply added onions and it was tasty particularly the crispy crust. The size was also more than enough for one person, and I am not shy about devouring pizza! We also ordered a small house salad that is plenty for 2 maybe even 3 people. Overall a good experience, I just can’t personally justify the price. Maybe if they offered just a few specialty pizzas at a good price(not a la carte) that would help… like a «Tree Hugger Pie» or a «Carnivore Delight». Just a thought…

New York Pizza in Destin? Yes please! Last year I had some of the WORST pizza ever at the place just next to AJs, the place needless to say was not worth remembering. In fact, I rarely like to write bad reviews and put places down but man oh man, that place was bad. Ok so that said, this here at Garimaldi’s was a great pie. We had a large Italian Sausage and the sauce, free-range mozzarella, sausage and service were for sure 5 stars. I mean, the crust was for sure coal oven, NY style, but no quite to the NY standard(but as good as one really could expect). I suppose you don’t have NY water in Florida, in fact last I checked I have never liked tap water anywhere in Florida. I’ve seen other reviewers knock this place for the a la carte nature of their topping prices, but anyone from NY knows that these style pies are no meant for a zillion different toppings. Keep it simple and enjoy. A two topping large pie runs around $ 22 – 23, which in my opinion is great given the quality. I had a pint of Goose Island Pale Ale an a local Greyston Pale Ale with my meal. $ 5 a pop. Given the reasonable beer and pizza prices I would for sure reccomend this place to anyone from those looking for a good bar area to watch a game, to a family looking for a good, and not overpriced meal.

Typically, when we visit Sandestin, we chow down on seafood. We decided to hit up Grimaldi’s for lunch this particular day for a pie. Now, I grew up in Philadelphia eating some of the best pizza in the country. I’ve been to Italy and had some really good pizza there as well. I am very picky about pizza. It should not be over sauced. The crust should be toasted and not soggy. Toppings should be fresh and properly placed on the pie and the mozzarella should be flavorful as well as the sauce. Grimaldi’s was a surprisingly good pie. When we arrived, we were greeted by a super professional and upbeat hostess. We were seated in a sparsely occupied dining room that was charmingly decorated with wine bottle chandeliers. We waited for a good while before asking a passing waitress if we could be waited on by someone. This was alarming due to the fact that I had read some of the stories of bad service here on Unilocal. After asking for assistance, we got Shawn as our waitress. She was apologetic about having us wait for service. She immediately filled our drink orders(they were out of Peroni — curious). We ordered up the small Caesar salad. It was indeed enough for three to four people to share. The salad was well dressed, croutons fresh, with plenty of parmesan. With a few twists of black pepper from Shawn, and this was a tasty salad. On to the pie. The pie cam out and I looked up it with lovingly. A GOOD pizza! We topped our small(16in) pie with Italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and onions. The pie was hot. The crust was charred. Shawn served up our first slices and it went completely quiet at our table save the occasional grunt or moan of deliciousness. We could not finish the whole pie so we boxed it and the last bits of the salad to save for another lunch meal. As a apology for having us wait for service, Shawn bought us a dessert. This was a really nice gesture. We had the Godiva chocolate cheese cake. Oh my! It was not overly sweet. The cake was almost mousse-like, topped with chocolate shavings. Pure decadence on a plate. So when you want to deviate from all the fresh seafood available to you in Sandestin, come grab a cold beer and a pie at Grimaldi’s. You will be glad that you did.

Wow– loved this place. I’ve grown up eating real New York pizza and when our waiter told us the restaurant figured out how to make the water as nice as Brooklyn’s, I was skeptical. But he was not kidding– this pizza was great!!! Really tasty sauce and wonderful crust. My family all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I would definitely recommend getting a salad to share– not that the wait was very long, but it was a very nice way to start the meal. A small is enough for three people to all get a taste of. Our waiter was very nice, personable and attentive. Service was fast and everything tasted great. Lovely ambiance that was casual, with a hint of fancy.(Also, We saw Emeril Lagasse on our way out! must be good)
