Like other reviewers this location has gone down hill fast. I have shopped there for 10 years, until now. The location is close and convenient for Mint Hill locals, but the service is horrible. I think I have seen more people smiling at the DMV than this place. Workers hate to be bothered or assist the people paying their paychecks. This was the only game in town for a while but now Aldi is next door and Publix less than a mile away. I give the poor service lion less than 3 years. Bottom line if these workers went to another store locally, they would know their job is on the line. Competition drives out the weak and only the strong survive. Good luck Food Tiger! Ha!

This Food Lion location sits off the road far enough that one can easily navigate to the store through the parking lot with ease. Another bonus is that there aren’t other businesses in the complex competing for parking spaces. In 2013 the parking lot was re-paved which made parking a nicer experience. At that time I noticed that the store was providing free giveaways, cash back coupons and deeply discounted products using the store’s bonus savings card– the MVP. I asked one of the store associates, why all of the recent changes? They simply stated, «it’s because we’re trying to keep our customers.» Fast forward to 2014. I’ve shopped at this location for over 10 years and never had a problem until recently. I have been overcharged with duplicate items on my receipt. I used the cash back option and the person at the checkout quickly closed the cash drawer and handed me the receipt hesitantly without my cash hoping that I wouldn’t notice. Well, I did notice. After reminding them of my cash back option, I was provided with my money– no one was in line behind me. On another visit, I had bottled water under the buggy. The store shift manager spotted me with the water and kept their eye on me throughout my shopping in the produce section and through the checkout line. Most of our items in the buggy were loaded on the checkout conveyor belt. Before I could get to the water, the shift manager, the same one following me around the store, goes through the line to put my water on the checkout conveyor. Really? Not good. We were still putting final items on the belt. That was enough. After that episode, I have removed this Food Lion location as my primary grocery store. I’m uncertain as to what has changed at this store, but it’s not for the better. Not happy about that either because I’ve shopped here for so many years.

This has recently become our go-to grocery store. They aren’t quite the closest, but we generally don’t go to Lowe’s because they tend to be a little pricier than we prefer paying for staples. Food Lion won’t always have everything we need, but for day-to-day needs, they do just fine and we aren’t completely baffled by an insane selection. This particular store is actually pretty nice as well — they have an area(international/produce/wine) that has a wooden flooring that gives it a quasi-upscale appearance, and the staff is really friendly as well. Heck, even the customers here have always been really friendly. The only downside is that I’ve noticed that they have a tendency to run out of stock on some items. Nothing in particular, but certain things just run out — maybe milk one day or juice another. If they could fix that it would be sweet.
