The only things going for this venue are the location and views, like I read in a previous review, don’t expect to get your money’s worth. You can expect to be surprised with being nickel and dimed too death, and this is a quote; «there will be an additional charge for toilet paper», really? when you have over 150 guests, wouldn’t you expect the bathroom to kept clean-we had to empty the trash, and stocked with toilet paper. The owners would appear out of nowhere when a «rule» was broken but couldn’t be found when the customer needed something. If you are considering this venue, ensure you ask about everything prior to signing any contract! Including the price of a roll of toilet paper!

I am a photographer and recently did a wedding at this facility. This is not a good place for photographs. As you can see in their picture there is a wall of windows at the section of the barn where the ceremony takes place and the head table is set up. This wall of windows faces south and on a day with sun it is virtually impossible to get a good exposure. Either the subject is exposed properly and the background completely blown out or the background is exposed properly and the subject is very dark. I was able to come up with solutions thanks to digital photography but it was not optimal. Similarly, outside all the spots they had set up for photo shoots, the photographer was facing the sun. For such an expensive venue more thought could have been given to photographs that need to be taken for events!

I have been to a couple of weddings here, and had a great time at both! Staff was friendly and efficient, so it is very surprising to see these 2 bad reviews(I can’t imagine that anyone would think they could bring in their own alcohol to an establishment that has its own liquor license. That would be like bringing in your own spaghetti to Olive Garden). Anyway, I had a wonderful time when I was there and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful place with a view for their special day! :-)

I had the privilege to be my best friend’s maid of honor at her wedding this past May of 2015 held at the Maine Wedding Barn. If you’re seriously thinking about holding your wedding at this venue, please be warned about the following: The barn itself is beautiful and picturesque for a rustic style wedding. Now, let’s talk about the EXPERIENCE. Things started smelling fishy a few weeks before the wedding when the barn owner told the bride and groom they would need to purchase their own event insurance for the wedding if they wanted to hold the wedding in THEIR venue. They did not offer insurance but required us to find and purchase our own event insurance. So that was weird, one would think an established venue that serves alcohol would have that whole insurance thing figured out by now. The second red flag came when they told the bride that nor she or the groom would be able to change at the venue for free, NOPE, if you want to use their house next door it’s $ 100 an hour. My bride, being local said she’d prefer to forgo that ridiculous up-charge and change at home. The night before the wedding, things started to be looking up though when the owner told my bride she could use the house next door for a half hour free of charge to put her dress on(how kind!). The day of the wedding, my bride arrived and we were told by the owner she would need to use the handicapped bathroom stall in the barn to put her dress on. We were shocked and quite frankly insulted. The morning of the wedding, we brought 24 bottles of champagne to the barn for each table for the toast. Can you guess what’s coming next? Yup, the day of the wedding they decided to inform us no outside alcohol is permitted. The DAYOF the wedding they spring this on us! Oh but don’t worry, they have the exact bottles of champagne we bought for 6.99 they’re happy to sell to us for $ 20 a bottle. The day of the wedding, the owners were next to useless, unwilling to help do ANY kind of coordination of any sort. They only came out of the woodwork to bark at our guests smoking outside not within the«smoking boundaries». When we asked for a receipt of the drink purchases they claimed were unpaid, they told us «they do not provide receipts.» When pressured for a receipt, the bartender used a piece of scrap paper to give us the list of drinks purchased(without any prices) Our wedding band we hired was told by the owner that they needed to park people’s cars. They also took up issue with a band member bringing their guitar amp into the barn. The flat fee they quote you from day one is far from what they will nickel and dime you for throughout the process. The nightmare continued even after the wedding when the owner told my bride she could not give her back her full damage deposit because she used it to «tip her bartenders». Is that a joke? Once informed that was illegal, the money was returned in full. If you or anyone you know and love is considering this place as a venue for their wedding, please, do not fall into the same expensive trap we did. It’s not worth it. As a new business based very much on word of mouth, operating a business in this way is completely senseless. I would highly recommend any other venue in New England to book your wedding. If you’re looking for an unprofessional experience and a total shakedown, this is your place. Consider yourself warned.

Gorgeous place for a wedding or larger family/business event. Authentic barn, very nice spot nested on top of a hill with great views. Large outside area for picture opportunities, parking, etc. Added a bar and bathrooms since last time I was up there.
