After reading the reviews we decided to try the Norwood Pines Supper Club for dinner last night. What a GREAT experience!!! The restaurant and driveway were beautifully decorated with white lightt. The old time lodge interior was charming. It was crowded which is always a good sign. We had an hour wait, which we did not mind. The bartenders were efficient and quite entertaining. Equally as friendly were the hostess and waitstaff. I ordered the Veal Oscar, which was the best I have had in a long time. My Husband had the perch which was also delicious. We wanted to try the massive ice cream drinks for dessert, but were stuffed. One thing to consider is reservations on the weekend which the hostess highly recommended. We will be back!!!

Went to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The chicken and ribs combo I had was pretty good, but others in the party were less than thrilled with their steaks. The walleye was marginal. Prices are high for what you get… will be awhile before I stop here again.

My family has a cabin up in Minocqua. I love to hit up this supper club. Love their Friday night fish fry(all you can eat). You can choose broiled, baked Cajun, or fried. I highly recommend any of them. The meal comes with fresh baked bread, coleslaw, corn fritters, and French fries. Their French fries are nice and crispy. The coleslaw is A-OK. The corn fritters are a nice sweet treat. If I had any kind of compliant it would be the slow service. They do get very busy, reservations recommended.

Excellent food and service. Ordered the ahi tuna which was cooked to my liking. Fresh wasabi was a nice touch. Only complaint was the hostess waiting to seat our reservation until our entire party arrived ~ forcing my grandfather to stand longer than necessary.

Took my family to Norwood on July 10th, 2015 for a traditional WI supper club fish fry. The all you can eat fish was just fine. However, I would bet a million that the tartar sauce was not homemade and $ 500 that it was Kraft from a gallon plastic jug. Very disappointing. Our server was great and appetizers, relish tray, bread and bread basket and dinner arrived in prompt fashion. I was especially disappointed in the service at the bar. The bartenders didn’t seem prepared to handle the crowd at 9pm on a Friday night. It wasn’t even THAT busy. Also, the bartender who served us, who I am told is the owner couldn’t have been less interested in providing friendly service to the point he seemed annoyed by our order of old fashioneds and bottled beer(not that complex). The ice cream drinks were great. It’s too bad my experience was soured by a disappointing experience at the bar. We won’t be going back.

This place is by far the best place in town. Family owned restaurant, extremely friendly staff along with a Cajun prime rib to die for! If you are in Minocqua this is the place to find. Busy during the summer so plan ahead!

Atmosphere is awesome. However the classic Friday Fish Fry was horrible! The fish was still partially frozen. The evening was topped off when the waitress lost our credit card! And the hostess very rude, didn’t even make eye contact when we checked in just told us to wait.

We were there Friday June 5th to begin a memorial celebration for my mom who passed away. My dad made the reservations well in advance and the night of we had 21 people attend. My dad requested the bill given to him. He doesn’t eat out regularly and certainly doesn’t regularly tip on a $ 400 bill. He rounded and tipped $ 50. The hostess took it upon herself to let me know how unhappy she was with this amount. I was BEYOND embarrassed and quickly took care of the extra tip. If you have parties of 8 or more the standard is to add the tip. I don’t know if the tip was already added and she was expecting something additional? I never saw the actual bill, but saw my dad’s credit card receipt. My husband went to the restroom and hear her speaking to another staff member about our«loud table». Sorry, 21 family members are going to be a bit louder than a party of 4. Over a week has passed and I’m still upset by this. I am in no hurry to come back that’s for sure.

This place is beautiful and classy. My steak was perfectly medium rare and the hubs had a plate of ribs which were falling-off-the-bone delicious. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back.

I did not like ribs until I came here. Fall off the bone. Lean. Succulent. Perfect. Beautiful location. Fireplace in the winter. Summer room and porch in the summer. I love it. Try a brandy Alexander or grasshopper for dessert. You may need to share.

We made reservations for 16 for their Friday fish fry. The ambiance is pure northwoods! Warm and inviting. The bar serves up a great strong old fashioned. All the sides with the fish fry make this a great meal. The fish(cod) was good but the Cajun option was bland. Try the porch in the summertime. Can’t really go wrong here.

We enjoyed our meal here. It’s a beautiful house with very friendly, helpful staff. The bartender/owner, the waitress, and the hostess all looked after us and made good suggestions. The meal started slowly, with a complimentary chicken pasta salad appetizer that did not do much for us. And the special soup(cream of asparagus) was disappointing — too thin and not that flavorful. But the entrees both were excellent and made the meal. We had the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly and was tender and delicious. Even better was the grilled pork ribeye. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare, and it can out pink and perfect. Awesome, porky goodness. We tried the overflow of an ice cream cocktail the bartender made. I would never order an ice cream drink myself, but this was terrific. All in all, a great place.

I had my reception for my wedding at Norwood Pines Supper Club. The owners are incredibly awesome to work with! They definitely know what they’re doing when it comes to weddings. John and Tom, bravo for helping us pull off the most amazing night of my life! They had great suggestions for food and everything was a hit. They went above and beyond in so many ways(even cooking food we had to bring up due to the culture differences between my husband and I) and I will never forget it! I live in IL, but will definitely be back every year when I visit!

Nothing says North Woods like a fabulous dinner at a scenic and beautiful supper club. We did a lot of research before booking a reso since the birthday boy(my husband… All he wanted for his birthday was to go to a supper club while we were on vacation«up north») wanted Prime Rib. After searching and much deliberating we went for Norwood Pines Supper Club. And it was all that we hoped it would be and more! The supper club itself has been owned by the same family for 35 years and you can tell that they truly love what they do. The club is in an old house perched next to Lake Catherine. It’s on a lot of property… And is just really quaint… Stepping in(5pm reso) was like stepping back in time. So cool. We asked to be seated on the porch, we heard that was the place to be. Our server was Pauline. She was very nice, knowledgable and did everything she could to make our evening perfect! Brandy Manhattan, old fashions and wine was served… As well as the crudités, pickled beets, a fresh pasta salad… Crackers and butter! Great way to start. Next we enjoyed these great little«pinecones» = whipped potato tater tots… In the shape of pinecones! Then came the soup course! New England Clam Chowder and Philly Cheesecake Chowder! The NE Chowder was good(it also had wild rice in it) and the Philly Cheesecake Chowder was differ yet good, too. Entrée came next… The gentlemen ordered the prime rib(and you can order it in three different sizes), I ordered the Filet Oscar and my MIL ordered twin lobster tails… All dinners came with a baked potato too! The only thing I can say about all entrees, our plates were just about finished… Done! No dessert for us though! But we did hear that they made the best after dinner ice cream drinks. Think Brandy Alexander’s! We just had coffee, in the coolest mugs. Throughout our whole dinner the porch and the rest of the restaurant was just filling up! Even the bar, that was full of the areas Shriners, fez and all! And this was on a Thursday night! We will truly be back when we head«up north» next summer! Thank you Norwood Pines for making my husband’s dream come true. *****if you decide to go make sure you make a reservation… And ask for the porch!

Gaak! Really? It’s charming as hell, I’ll give them that, right down to the lovely view and the deer strolling on the groun ds. Hostess was very nice, place was busy but not«whoa this sucks» busy. The food blows. I’ve been eating walleye, and at supper clubs, my whole life, I’m a WI native. My first attempt was their grilled walleye which came out plank dry, with a flesh so tough I couldn’t pierce it with a fork. Back it went, at $ 23 for a meal it better be perfect. Second attempt I opted for the famous walleye almandine, which was cooked correctly, but the only flavor was the butter it was submerged in. Baked potato was totally dried out. The salad was skimpy, mostly iceberg lettuce. Asked for the balsamic vinaigrette, they brought us a bottle of balsamic vinegar, no oil. For this kind of money I should have been blown away. This many stars for this crap? What a waste of good walleye, my grandmother made better. Heck, so do I.

This place is so north woods charming that we decided to have our daughters wedding reception here. The owners, John and Tom, overwhelmed us with their hospitality. They were so accommodating to us. We have a place locally but did all our planning from the Chicago area. They even took care of some cultural dishes we had catered. The appetizers were outstanding, followed by a delicious dinner. All our guest complimented the food. They made our daughters reception a very memorable night for all. We will definitely return. I highly recommend a visit. Thanks, Mike & Donna Rahul & Melissa

Four of us went for dinner last night. The service was very pushy and rushed us through the entire meal, repeatedly coming to take our orders even though we were enjoying a cocktail and conversation. My oriental chicken dish, was cold and dry and had clearly been made ahead and attempted to reheat. The ribeye steak another had was barely edible with little flavor and tough, and the past dish another had was dry and tasted old. We stopped to talk to the hostess on our way out to mention that we were not happy with our server and she just tried to defend her. Subpar food, bad service; why bother, there are better places in the area. Very disappointing for the price and what you get.

There are certain things I expect if you are going to use«supper club» in your business name. Did Norwood Pines live up to that? Read on: Drinks: nice bartender. Drinks take longer that needed, but it’s not the bar’s fault. People — this is supper club. Get an old fashioned or a gimlet, ok? If you want grapefruit margarita or a mojito, this isn’t the spot + you’re clogging up the works. JEEZ. Relish: I expect a relish tray at a supper club and one was duly delivered. Hmmm… pineapple, pasta salad, a ramekins of what appeared to be sliced cranberries and tortilla chips? Maybe it was refrigerator clean out day but I had no clue what I was supposed to do with these random items. Entrees: solid. I had a filet and it was tender and cooked properly. The«red wine peppercorn» sauce, thankfully served on the side, was pretty vile though. Very sweet — not something I want on a steak. What’s wrong with classic au jus? Hubs declared that he wanted«a steak the size of a toilet seat» and they brought a monster size slab of very good prime rib. I actually watched the onset of meat sweats and saw him slide into a food coma. Dessert: are you kidding me? There was no room in the inn. Service: friendly and fast. I’d like to see Norwood Pines go back to the classic supper club elements. Get rid of the«fancy» elements, which were the worst part of the meal, and dish up a proper relish tray.

If I were starving to death in the north woods and I stumbled upon this restaurant, I would probably pull it together enough to crawl to Otto’s Beer Garden. The food here is okay. A bit of an old fogie atmosphere. Not bad, but not great. Stay thirsty my friend!
