Washburn McReavy Southeast Funeral Chapel

When a family member passed away in April, we asked the M.E. to contact this facility. When the W.M. Chapel called, the woman who called was abrupt, loud, and lacked the kind of sensitivity I expected from the representative of a funeral home. She stated something about them being very busy so it would be awhile until they could come out to collect the body — not an unreasonable request, but eventually she asked if there was anyone at the deceased’s home who could help them carry the body out to the van! I thought this was so horribly inappropriate that it would have been comical in an Saturday Night Live skit, but to ask this of the bereaved was just outrageously unacceptable IMHO! I was dumbfounded. Not only by the insensitivity of the question, but also because this is part of what you pay them to do. We immediately decided to cancel their services and contacted a different funeral home who treated us much more respectfully and arrived within an hour of our contacting them.
A few days later I tried to call the manager at W.M. SE Chapel to let them know why we cancelled their services. I was told he was out sick, so I left a message asking that he call me when he returned. Over 3 weeks have how passed and I still haven’t received a call back.
