I wanted to have this Walgreen’s start filling prescriptions for diabetic supplies, I called and was told I had to call the U of M pharmacy and tell them to call Walgreen’s with the RX information, I called the U of M and they said Walgreen’s pharmacy needs to call for the information, I called Walgreen’s back and got put on hold, no one ever came back, guess they don’t want or need my business and don’t know that I would trust them after that type of customer service.

This is somewhat of a default drugstore for me. I only go here during prime hours of the day(9 – 3). Since so many drug stores have closed and I don’t consider supermarkets putting 200 types of shampoo on the shelf and calling it a drug store a real drug store. That aside on my last visit I was waiting to check out and the clerk was busy talking to a co-worker while snacking on a cookie. I have never seen an employee behind the counter eating while on duty anywhere. The employees at this location are robotic and going through the motions of trying to be nice. I’ve seen customers ask for help as an employee will sigh and quickly and quietly sort through the shelves and rudely hand a product out. The cleanliness issue varies from time to time. When taking a hand basket I just dump out the contents to the next basket on the stack as they are usually full of flyers and coupons. As far as Walgreen corporate policies go, they have eliminated typical drug store products as in health and beauty and expanded cheap toys and shoddy products trying to be more of a variety store. There is more profit to these items same as filling the shelves with candy. Now with the price tags showing something like $ 5.59 regular price, with 10,000 points $ 4.89, discount card $ 5.29, so what do I pay? Once I was accosted at 10:00 a.m. outside the door from a man in nice clothes asking me for change. There are always people sitting in their cars in the parking lot staring at customers. Do that many people wait for their friends or relations to finish shopping or are they trying to make contact to buy controlled substances? There probably isn’t much management can do to control that situation so it’s just a cautionary notice. Go in, use your urban street skills and don’t make eye contact, get your stuff and check out and head straight for your car. Smile at the check out clerk with crumbs on her face on your way out.

I’m not sure where the 4 stars come from Krystal M., especially after the scary troublemaker comment. This Walgreens has everything you probably look for in a Walgreens, and it has two redboxes outside. However, it was not very clean, and previous reviewer is correct, it gets a little sketchy after hours. It doesn’t deter me from frequenting here, I do live only 4 blocks away, but I’d prefer to avoid it if I can. And then wash my hands when I get home. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to discriminate, but when the credit card machines have a sticky goo all over it and people are loitering around the front doors, and there is garbage tumbling around the parking lot… it’s a little hard not to judge. This is the type of walgreens where you walk in and don’t expect anything short of crappy customer service. Surprisingly, the check out clerks have always been pretty friendly, or at least not terrible. The managers though are always in a bad mood and grumpily stocking shelves or checking prices whilst moving extremely fast. One day one of them even yelled out at me «ONYOURRIGHTONYOURRIGHT» like a biker would as they pass you in a pedestrian walkway. Being a customer service manager at one point myself, I would just walk around the person in a normal fashion or maybe go a different way if they were really obstructing my walking path. I say all of this lightheartedly. I’ve never left upset or otherwise, it just is what it is. You know as soon as you drive by and see the large crooked Walgreens sign you aren’t stopping to get an experience at Macy’s.

This is a great Walgreens, but scary at night. Seems to attract a lot of troublemakers.
