I have been here many times for the dermatologist, but this was my first visit at the SkinSpa. It was amazing! I highly recommend the esthetician. She was polite, friendly, gave great advice for my skin, recommended products and treatments, and was very professional. The Deluxe Facial was relaxing and my skin is still glowing! I cannot wait to go back!

Cleared up my skin in 1 month. Post-college acne struck me really hard and I had no idea what to do. Within 1 month I had clear skin! They were all so nice!

One year ago I was experiencing a zit that would not go away. I consulted with the main doctor at Uptown Dermatology(I waited three weeks to see her as was out of the country). I remeber she had a helper following here. She spent less than five minutes with me. She looked at the pimple and wrote a prescription for some cream and said to come back in a month. As I was waiting for her to come into the room I remember reading the huge picture on the wall that descriped common reasons for zits. The most common was called a fistula. I didnt think anything about it at the time. In a month the problem did not go away. When I returned all she said was that she had no idea. REALLY. No idea. The picture was five feet away. Apparently the pictures are for show. I did not know where to turn. Usally a credible physican will offer suggestions or even refer you to someone. I was left to my own research. I did find a doctor 20 miles away who in a matter of minutes identified the problem. It was a fistula. It required surgery. The cream that the doctor at Uptown Dermitology prescribled actually inflamed and compounded the problem. I understand no one is perfect, but really… the picture was on the wall. I wish there was a zero star option. i also found it unprofessional that while waiting in the front room and looking outside the window to the first floor parking lot that I could see her nurse outside smoking. Really? Nasty.

i went in for an annual skin cancer screening. the screening was great and the dermatologist was thorough. would have given them 5 stars on service, until i got the MASSIVE bill for the screening and two lab tests. absolutely a bummer. and keep in mind– i have corporate insurance AND was assured that they were covered by my insurance. NOT worth it for the money. MAJOR let down, people. the bill was not small. they should have given me a heads up at the time of booking. Update: my 30 minute appt(two moles removed) cost $ 656 — just a heads up for folks. I won’t be returning.

So young, so fresh and so clear clear! I recently started using the Spa Services at Uptown Derm & SkinSpa. I now am addicted. I seriously look at my calendar for my next free weekend for facials and peels! I won’t give you my Aesthetician’s name(hey — –her schedule is getting harder and harder for me!) but so far I’ve talked w/a few of the other Spa staff and all are extremely easy to talk to, no matter what the embarassing breakout could be. I’ve gone through two peels(vitalize and rejuvanize) and a few microdermabrasions and have never had any issues whatsoever(besides the normal effect of a peel). I notice a huge difference in my wrinkles, poors and elasticity! Even my friends, family and coworkers are impressed and a few go to the Spa now. I highly recommend Uptown Derm & Spa for medical visits and spa treatments over anywhere else.

I’m one of those lucky people with lots of moles and a family history of melanoma, joy. After I couldn’t take any more of my mom’s pestering, I made a cancer-screening appointment at Uptown Dermatology based solely on the fact I could walk there from my apartment. The atmosphere is very calming and I really enjoyed the brightness of their lobby, I hate those generic brown lobbies of most clinics. Full body skin cancer screenings are awkward, there’s no way around it. But Dr. Ahmed and the nurse practitioners made me feel as comfortable as was possible for such an appointment. They were very courteous and sympathetic to the nature of the appointment. My lab results were also timely, received well within the week they had allotted. The follow up appointment a few months later went just as smoothly. Dr. Ahmed knowledgeably addressed my concerns about scarring and gave me some suggestions, which was appreciated. I’ll continue to see them because they don’t make me feel in any way uncomfortable. I’ve actually recommended them to a co-worker who was not pleased with the demeanor of her current dermatologist. She had her first appointment this morning and came back with raving reviews, so I can’t be just a fluke!

This place is a rip off. Yes, the place is nice and the staff are friendly and attentive, but they totally wasted my time and money. The first time I went they said I can only be seen for one issue at a time. Why?! I had multiple skin issues and I’d rather have them all done in one day. Nonetheless I had to schedule another appointment. I went there the second time and had to get a lab test on a sample of my skin. They called me back a couple weeks later to tell me that the test was negative and that I needed another test to test for another type of «thing.» What? Why didn’t you just do both tests in the first place? Or take a bigger sample to do both at once. They again wanted me to come in a 3rd time and that’s when I just said no. I cancelled my appointment and don’t plan on going back. If you don’t mind getting jerked around and paying up the wazoo for services, this is your place. But I think they did all this on purpose just so I could keep coming in. Btw, 2 visits that were about 30 minutes in all totaled more that $ 500.

I went to the Uptown Dermatology to get a white bump in my eye checked out, and then hopefully removed. The reception service was great and they were very friendly. The place had coffee and water all prepared and the seating area was a very comfortable place to be. The problem with the whole ordeal was the actual appointment. I saw Dr. Rehana Ahmed. She was very kind, but did not take the time to look at my eye. As she walked in she asked me how long the bump has been there, since she must have been informed by the nurse as to what was going on, and I told her. She instantly had a diagnosis for my eye and said that it would be an easy fix of just taking and nicking it off. I trusted she was right, so she took her knife, telling me she wasn’t going to numb it cause it would take too much time, and started the process. After about 7 attempts at getting it, the pain was too much for me to bare and I was about to pass out. So I told her I couldn’t do it anymore. The nurse was nice enough to get me a cookie and juice to make me feel better and I left. I was very disappointed that it wasn’t gone, and very self conscious about it. A few months later I was looking at my eye and saw that some of the white stuff was coming out of my skin. I took a tweezers and realized the white substance moved around UNDER my skin, not on top like she had originally told me. I grabbed a needle, poked a whole in the first layer of my skin and was able to squeeze it out. How Dr. Ahmed was not able to figure out something that simple is beyond me, when I was able to do it all on my own. And after a $ 200+(NOT including what the insurance covered) doctor bill for her to do nothing, I will not be returning to see her ever again.

My first doctor here was great. But she left and my new doctor is pretty bad. I am rushed in and out, I get to talk to the nurse a bit, but the doctor barely even looks at me. I don’t think she has even ever actually looked at my skin. But she is very happy to perscribe me many, many expensive prescriptions. I am apparently not worth the time to explain how to use them, I have to ask the nurse for that.(Seriously: I got 4 different prescriptions, with no explanation of how to use any of them.) The latest thing she prescribed me ruined some of my clothes and all my towels. Don’t I deserve a warning if this drug is mostly bleach? In general, I feel like my doctor is more of a saleswoman than anything. I’ve been going there for about 3 years, and I’m finally fed up enough to start looking for a new dermatologist. Slick office, but too many drugs pushed on you, and not worth your money. I just can’t recommend going to this place.

At first, I wasn’t so sure about Uptown Dermatology. I was on this big natural health care kick(which I’m still on, for that matter) and I was very anti-everything-they-tried-to-prescribe me. However, after about six months of no improvement in my post-college acne attack, I sought their help once again. I thought, «OK, these are professionals and maybe I should do what they say instead of drinking so much apple cider vinegar.» And guess what — it worked. I originally saw Becky White, but she moved away so now I see Risa Dorweiler(both nurse practitioners). They both have been able to help me put things back into whack, so to speak. They even prescribed this topical treatment that is usually used for rosacea but ended up working miracles on me. I’ve been very, VERY happy with the results. I’ve also had three Swedish massages from Olaf here(bought a daily discount). He’s a really nice guy and the massages were OK but didn’t hold a candle to Miki at SpotSpa. His unusual technique is hit or miss for me, but that may just be a personal preference. The atmosphere is a combination of doctors office and spa, which makes sense because that’s what it is. There are plenty of cosmetic treatments you can get here, if you’re into that. Make sure you grab a handful of samples from their big bowl of mini lotions and sunscreen on the way out! P. S. They validate parking(at least partially) for the lot in the back, but when I drive I usually park on 31st and walk because I’m super cheap and could use the exercise.

Been here twice, going back again next week. Dr. Ecker(sp?) was very nice, and he really listened to me when I talked about my skin. He even had someone in training with him during my appt, which I thought was pretty cool. At the time I was uninsured, so I was paying for everything out of pocket. He offered to chat with me over the phone the next time I needed an appt, instead of making my pay $ 100 for an office visit. Super thoughtful. All in all great clinic, a nice clean space. One thing I will say is the receptionists could have been nicer. They were ok over the phone when making an appt, but weren’t very friendly in person. They assumed I knew what to do when I got there(on my first visit to the clinic) and I had to figure it all out myself.
