Very authentic. Great tostadas at a great price between $ 2 – 3 each. Homemeade chips and mexican soda for $ 1.25. If your spanish is as pathetic as mine you may feel stuid ordering but that’s ok. This place is super cassual and like a food court. Everyone was eating the tripe soup but I’m just too timid to go there. Also know that you can buy tortillas and chips if you want to make your own food.

I only gave this place four stars because the service was a little, shall we say, laid back. The wait is so worth it though, because these tortillas are absolutely amazing. Pony up your $ 2 and you’ve got enough tortillas to feed an army. Try them plain, straight out of the bag, while they’re still warm. As long as I was standing there I ordered a veggie tostada. It was simple(beans, iceburg lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and Parmesan), but OHMYGOSH was it tasty. I’m convinced that you could put a dog turd on one of these tortillas and it would be delicious. I dare you to try.

The only thing I’ve had from Tortilleria La Perla is(get ready) their tortillas, but if their other food is anything like their tortillas then I should probably try it. I work upstairs at this market and one of the best perks is that I can swing by La Cosecha whenever I want and pick up a fresh sack of tortillas off the stand. The tortilleria brings new bags of corn and flour tortillas as well as freshly made tortilla chips every single day. They are so much better than whatever you find at the grocery store it’s ridiculous. I actually laugh in Spanish at stale store-bought and preservative-filled tortillas: JAJAJA!
