Theatre in the Round Players, Inc.

I really enjoyed my experience. It’s kind of a unique venue as the stage wraps all the way around. Tickets weren’t overly expensive either. I would go back again. Volume was good and acting was stellar. I’m continually impressed by Minneapolis’ theater and food scene.

My wife and I saw «Don’t Dress For Dinner», we were both very impressed. The set up of the stage is very cool, everyone gets to be close to the action. We Loved it and we both are looking forward to coming again!

My sister and I enjoyed a Sunday matinée of the Greek comedy «Lysistrata». The production was wonderfully funny; the actors/​actresses were well-​cast and performed with passion and professionalism. All seats appeared to be good. The venue is quaint and comfortable. I would certainly recommend taking time to see a production at this gem of a community theatre.

Was here for a fringe performance, and really liked the space. It’s been about 25 years since I had been here, and the house is great, and the in-​the-​round stage is a neat thing. I’ll totally go back and check out a play here much sooner than between my last two stops.

What a cool theater! It’s got a great artsy vibe that’s interesting and fun. It’s intimate yet can seat a good number of people. They have a nice lounge to have a snack and chat before the show begins. The seats are comfy and that’s always something I appreciate. I was going to knock it down one star due to the lack of parking options but it seems they validate for the lot next door (so says Jennifer S.) and so I guess that’s not an issue.

I’ve been coming here for years to see various plays.
I love their smaller venue and it’s relaxed nature. Prices are so reasonable. They validate parking in the adjacent ramp which lowers the cost nicely.
They’re entering their 60^th season this year!

I saw a performance here this spring and it was very enjoyable! I wasn’t sure what to expect because it is a community theater, but the cast was charismatic and engaging. Very professional. But, they have been doing this for a long time as one of the oldest theaters in Minneapolis.
The building was nice and it is right at the intersection of seven corners, so there were a few options for pre and post show cocktails including Town Hall Brewery and The Corner Bar.
The only problem was that they said the intermission would be 15 minutes in the program, but they were much shorter so the can of Diet Coke I bought went undrank. That is just a little bit sad.

Theatre in the Round is a lovely theater. The way the seats surround the stage creates and intimate feel – you’re physically a little closer to the action here than you are at, say, the Guthrie. It’s a cozy space, although maybe a little too cozy – when I was in 9^th grade, I came to Theater in the Round with my English class to see «The Glass Menagerie». During the second act, one of my illustrious classmates let out a very audible belch. The actor playing Tom broke through the fourth wall just long enough to glare at my classmate. How embarrassing for my teachers, and for all of us. Perhaps it’s easier to disguise noisy bodily functions in a more traditional space?
Rest assured, you’ll enjoy taking in a play at Theater in the Round if you choose to do so. Just make sure some obnoxious high school kids are not also doing so.

The Theater in the Round is an interesting venue as it is, as you may have guessed my clever readers, in the round.
So, this means that the stage is in the middle and the audience is seated around it.
It makes for an interesting theater experience as there is no backdrop, no backstage, and usually a minimalistic set.
Come with your imaginations as they will be an important part of the performance.
