The location is so convenient for downtown living but the prices are a little high compared to the last dry cleaning store I frequented. Coupons help a lot.

This location is very convenient if you live in downtown. They do a good job dry cleaning, but there are two main turn-offs for me: 1) The prices are the highest I have ever seen. Laundry for a shirt is $ 3.89, not to mention that they tack on an «environmental fee» per item, so you almost end up paying $ 5/shirt out the door. 2) They attach a permanent barcode sticker to the inside of your shirt without any warning beforehand. This makes it easier for them to process your clothes, but now that I don’t go to these cleaners anymore, I have to deal with their tag permanently on my shirts. A little warning would have been nice. The two stars instead of one is because the staff are nice, and they even mailed me a handwritten card after my first visit. However, due to the difficulties listed above, I won’t be bringing my business back to St. Croix.

Was very happy to discover St. Croix Cleaners by getting a coupon in the mail. Much better than the over-priced cleaner I had been using in Uptown. The prices are fair, appreciate the green cleaning(that deserves more props), and customer service is great. The regularly mailed coupons are also great reminders/prompts.

I’m a little mixed on this, but overall feeling OK about this new cleaners. Here goes. The gist: 1. Excellent service when I dropped off a big pile of clothes. 2. Not excellent service during the time I dropped off a bridesmaid dress that needed a quick steam in a jiffy. 3. Excellent during the pick-up of all clothes, including my friend’s wedding dress, two bridesmaid dresses and a bunch of woolen winter clothes. 4. All clothes except the rushed bridesmaid dress turn out totally clean and pressed. The rushed bridesmaid dress, however, had more wrinkles than it did when I brought it in. The details: When I dropped off my clothes(about 5 – 6 things), I had the warmest, kindest service experience I’ve had at a dry cleaner. I forgot one dress and brought it in a couple of days later(was hoping to put a rush on it so it could be ready with the other things the next day). This dress belongs to my co-bridesmaid and didn’t need any cleaning, just a very minimal steaming(I actually tried to convince my friend it was wrinkle-free already… it totally was, but whatever). Anyway, when I brought this dress in, the service was 180 degrees in the opposite direction. The counterperson was different from the first visit and not quite as friendly from the get-go. She went back to check with the woman in charge to see if it would be possible to have it ready the next day. This other woman hollered up to me to ask an approximate time when I needed it and I said around 3:30 tomorrow. She was appalled and yelled back, «Three-thirty AM?!?» WHAT? No. Clearly I’m not planning to pick up my dry cleaning in the middle of the night. Then they didn’t seem to know definitively how much it would cost and I just left really shaken up about having such a totally different experience from my first impression. At pick-up, it was the same staff that thought I wanted to pick my clothes up at 3:30 a.m. but this time they were very nice and helpful. I was happy to see that they didn’t charge a rush fee for the steaming and they set my friend up with a $ 50 discount if she wants to have her wedding dress preserved there. My bridesmaid dress was wrinkle free and everything else with the order was perfect, but my friend’s dress(the one that was not wrinkled when I brought it in) had a new crease in the front that was pretty noticeable when we took it out of the bag at home. Again, all the other clothes were fine and the service was above-and-beyond two-thirds of the time so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt here that it was just a fluke with this one dress and that they were just having an off day that second visit. I still like this place loads more than Anderson and I hope it wins me back over the next visit.
