Yummers, so absolutely delicious. I love the owner and her cuisine, it reminds me of a great restaurant I use to work at name Tallulah restaurant in San Francisco. So fragrant and delicious.

Want to love this food truck more than I do because the people who run it are so, so nice. The veggie sampler has a great mix of vegetables and lentils and would be perfect except for one thing… it is intolerably salty even by restaurant standards. The salt could be cut in half and it would still be plenty salty. I’ve visited the truck three times with the hope I’d luck out and the food wouldn’t be so salty, but the high salt level seems to be the norm so I’m giving up on this one.

The people that work here were very nice! Wish I could give you a higher rating! Unfortunatley the Chicken Curry was bland, even the rice was bland(how do you do that?); the rice tasted like it was from a boxed mix and slightly watery. The bread that came with the dish was prepackaged; not what I expected. To pay extra to eat at a food truck means to me that the food is fantastic and better than I can get inside; unfortunatley this was not the case.

Stopped here for lunch with a few co-workers on a food truck adventure. I decided on the gyro plate(about $ 7.50). I waited almost 10 minutes before I got my lunch; I did show up around 12:15PM so a wait was expected. The gyro was a decent size and came with potato chips. The meat was good, a little flavor and the veggies complimented the meat like it should have. I wasn’t super impressed with what I got. I’ve had plenty of gyros around the Twin Cities and this one was pretty average; there wasn’t anything that screamed at me. I’ll have to try this truck again as there were a few other items that looked good.

This food truck is the bee’s knees. First of all, the guy taking the orders is really friendly and funny. When I got the chicken curry and rice, he encouraged me to put the special sauce which was«Minnesota spicy,» according to him. Which was not spicy at all. Which makes me think that term really does disservice to all Minnesotans who actually like spicy food… but then again Minnesotan restaurants do have all these spice levels and stuff. Which makes me think I’m totally digressing. The chicken curry and rice was absolutely flavorful and delicious without being heavy at all. The lovely sauce binds the loose basmati rice together, and the chicken is well-cooked without drying out. The special sauce was really a tamarind-based sauce with a hint of spice, and goes well on top of the curry/rice concoction. The second time I went there I got the Philly cheesesteak. Not very Ethiopian, I suppose, but boy was it freaking good. For $ 7, this thing was a mammoth. And it was a good-tasting mammoth at that too. No wonder mammoths are extinct. I just put the last one in my belly.

I AM a fan. Thanks to the food truck craze, I now have wonderful ethnic options for lunch in downtown Minneapolis. Yesterday I had their chicken curry and put their special«hot» sauce and some Sriracha on top. These are the only two condiments on their counter(next to the napkins) and you need both of them to make the curry perfect. Their«hot» sauce has the consistency of salsa with a little sweetness and very little spice. I make chicken curry at home and order it all the time, so I have some familiarity with the different ways it is made and how delicious it can be. I would give She Royal 4 out of 5 stars for the curry. They get 5 stars for the Royal Treatment of course, being so exceedingly friendly and helpful. Love that truck! Love it so much, that I went back today to try the veggie sampler and that was delicious, too. Again, use both condiments to add more flavor and spiciness. The veggie sampler had basmati rice, pita bread, collard greens, yellow split peas and red lentils. The red lentils had the best flavor. My only suggestion for She Royal would be to replace the pita with injera. It sounds like they used to serve it and I hope they bring it back. Between the two dishes, I have to give the edge to the curry. Wouldn’t it be great if food trucks were here year-round?

I should probably wait until my stomach stops gurgling to write this, because I went to the food truck in downtown Mpls a couple of times last year and loved the veggie sampler with the injera. But today it was just bad. Pop quiz: What is the worst thing a restaurant can do to a vegetarian? A: Serve them meat, duh! While I’m eating the red stuff in my veggie sampler, I get a bite that doesn’t taste or feel right. As I investigate it closer, I find a chunk of something that looks an awful lot like ground beef. I brought it back to the truck and showed them the mystery piece. He poked it with a fork and said it wasn’t meat, but couldn’t tell me what it was. That’s comforting. They gave me another one and threw in a free lemonade, which I thought was a nice gesture. Only, I start eating the second batch and it too tastes like meat and has weird gristly chunks in it. Aside from being served meat, the yellow dish(split lentils?) were undercooked and the collards were bland. Instead of injera bread, there was pita. The whole dish was a far cry from the delicious spiced beets and veggies i had last year. I called the number on the internet and a woman apologized saying the red lentil sauces must have gotten mixed up. I understand that mistakes happen, but even without the unwelcome meat surprise, I would have been disappointed. I hope I just happened to hit them on a bad day, because I really like the idea of having a vegetarian ethiopian option for lunch downtown.

In my summer quest to try all the food trucks, today outside my office so I thought why not check it out. I decided to order the chicken curry. I have to say I was disappointed. The curry was under seasoned and the chicken was dry. The basmati rice was ok. I am wondering if I shouldn’t have went for the veggie option. Oh well I tried it.

Now apparently this truck is an offshoot of a coffee shop that I had never heard of! Ethiopian eats. I have to be honest: I wasn’t an official patron of this truck. He’s normally downtown during the weekdays and Uptown Market on Sunday, as is Hola Arepa… I ate at Arepa and kinda hung out at the market for a bit. I was investigating She Royal’s menu and the VERY nice man working the truck talked me into a free sampler! He loaded up a plate with a little of bit of everything. He explained what it all was but I don’t remember… all I remember is that everything was absolutely delicious! I don’t remember pricing either. Here’s my feedback: make your truck look more exciting and get a better menu board describing your dishes in a way that’s gonna entice people! His hard to read chalkboard literally said ‘chicken and rice’ well big deal. Put some descriptors behind that and you might have more people in your line… Just my two cents.

Every Sunday this summer I wake up and say, «Today I get to eat the veggie sampler from She Royal at the Uptown Farmer’s Market!» Just the thought of those tasty red lentils puts a spring in my step.

What a glorious idea! Ethiopian street food on our little Midwestern street… Had the injera & veggie lunch, which was AMAZING. The lentils had great spice, the okra was done well, and the cabbage spoke to me of kraut kinda. I am still learning to love injera’s bizarre(and frighteningly familiar squishy) texture, but they make it easy to here. Samson is super nice and takes the time to chitchat with customers, asking us where we worked and thanking us for making the trek out. I wish they weren’t such a hoof away, but the brisk walk makes for a nice mid-day break. Definitely will be coming here often!

This cart is great. They guys working today gave us some free samples of things while we were waiting for our food. The steakburger is a Philly cheesesteak type sandwich made out of what tastes like gyro meat. The veggie platter sample they gave us was extremely good, as was the chicken and rice sample. Good food at good prices, I just wish the city would have let them set up closer to the lunch time foot traffic.

What a beautiful city this would be if downtowners took a stroll to a place like She Royal Deli at lunch instead of taking familiar cold comforts in the skyway. Delicious Ethiopian food served by Sampson, an uncommonly friendly and gracious entrepreneur. Fight that heavy, listless skyway feeling: take your coworkers on a field trip to She.

This is a review for their food truck that was kickin’ in Mears Park last week. I had been to the most awesome Unilocal Elite schoolyard event and didn’t get a chance to sample their goodies, so I definitely felt the need to make up for it. I even bypassed the Chef Shack to give ‘em a whirl. The owner was friendly and helpful. He suggested the sambusas to start, which are the equivalent of Indian samosas. However, he didn’t have any of the veggie red lentil, just beef, so I passed. I tried the veggie sampler which came with lentils and cabbage and a huge piece of injera. Hubby got the steak sandwich. My meal was absolutely fantastic. The owner said that the food wasn’t really spicy, but I found that the cabbage had just a little kick and was perfectly flavored. The lentils were outstanding, pureed to a lovely creamy consistency, also flavored well. I wasn’t sure how the injera would play out, as it came rolled in a tight cigar. It, too, was perfect, lightly sour and fluffy. I had enough left over for a full meal. Hubby liked his sandwich a little less, as he found the meat just a little tough and the roll a little dry… but hell, this is my review, not his, so I’m all four stars about it! We waited a brief moment for our food and sauntered over to a park bench for a nice lunch. Mears Park is so awesome when the bums aren’t around and the dog poop has been cleared out by conscientious owners. Prices are good, around $ 6 – 7 if I recall, though he charged us more than what was listed on the board(by 0.50, which I didn’t mind forking over). The only negative: styrofoam containers. I would love to see them use something more environmentally responsible.
