Great store. Their staff is always super friendly and helpful (even when I’m not!). Also a great destination to bring kids– free popcorn and they sell ice cream and fun varieties of soda. I like to swing by here for sodas on the way to pick up carryout pizza. They also don’t mind dogs, if you want to stop in on your walk.

Every time I am need of something that takes a little bit more knowledge, I know to go to Settergren Ace Hardware.
Mouse traps, Wasp killer, grass seed, etc. I’ve been burned at other big box places in the past asking questions and getting the wrong answer, then screwing up a project and heading back to Settergren’s. With most of these guys, I know that if they do not know about something, they’ll tell me they don’t know.
Great place, and a great group of employees.

I love this place. It’s exactly like that hometown Mom & Pop hardware store that you can never find these days.
The staff is beyond accommodating and informative. They can help answer your questions regardless of what you are trying to accomplish! Trust me, sometimes I am just rambling through what I need to do and they help me get the tools to get it done.
I am fine with the pricing, it usually is within cents of those other big box retailers that have ZERO customer service or tie in with the local community.
I’m a big fan of Settergrens… check them out.

This place has everything you need to complete tasks around the house and also has an extremely knowledgeable staff to help you get the job done right.
I typically go here a couple times a month to pick up supplies for household projects. I am always greeted with a «Hello, how can we help you?» and someone leading me right to the spot where I can find what I am looking for. Additionally, anytime I have had a question I have been able to get a thoughtful and helpful answer from someone on staff.
I always make this my first stop for home project supplies and I never end up disappointed.

Just visited over the weekend, on a quick trip to buy some new work gloves. As usual, I was greeted right away and shown to the area I needed. I got what I needed, checked out quickly, and was on my way.
As usual, the staff is friendly and attentive, the place is clean, and parking (even though it’s just along the street) is easy and convenient. Whether for a quick stop or help with a big project, this place is just about perfect.

Every single time I walk into this place, I am amazed at how friendly and helpful their service is. It is so nice to have this place in the neighborhood. Many times, they’ve saved me money by suggesting cheaper alternatives to address whatever project I happen to be working on, and they always go above and beyond in providing insights. Great dog-​friendly hardware store. They have a ton of stuff squeezed into a small space and plenty of helpful employees ready to help you find what you need. Yes, you tend to pay a little more but I love having this place in my neighborhood so, for most things, I’m willing pay a little more to support a local business.

My husband is a major do-​it-​yourselfer. My role in his projects often takes me to a hardware store. Settergren’s has always been my first stop. Now that they’re in Linden Hills, it’s a closer trek for me! I’ve visited their store countless times and have always been met with friendliness, helpful staff and a genuine interest in making sure I leave with what I need for the job. There’s no judgment if I forget the proper name for a tool or need extra help figuring out what exactly it is that I came for.
I was in so often when I was pregnant with my first daughter that I felt compelled to introduce the Settergrens to my baby after she was born. This local business is one of my favorites in SW Minneapolis.

every time i’m in here, i get great service. friendly smiles, helpful answers, and kindness make this my default hardware store. and now they have a new location in linden hills, where the co-​op used to be.
free pop-​corn and that sweet, old dog are the icing on the cake.
i never thought i’d review a hardware store, but they deserve your business, and you deserve their sweet service.

When you walk through the door you will be asked if you need help. They have an extremely knowledgeable staff that will help you find exactly what you need and walk you through any of your projects. It isn’t like wandering through a Home Depot trying to find what you need for an hour and never being able to find anyone who knows what they are doing and can help you. You will be extremely happy with the service you get here.

Excellent service … I’m pretty useless when it comes unclogging a drain pipe or things like that, but they didn’t tease me too much. You wouldn’t think it, but some of their items are cheaper than Home Depot. I like to give them my business because they’re a local, family-​run business. Also, they give out free popcorn.
