We’ve been long-time, loyal supporters of Room & Board and have spent thousands of $$,$$$ in their stores over the years. We’ve had very few service issues and generally good customer service. However, we’ve soured on R&B after contacting them about an obvious structural/design defect in a set of SIX Dorian Dining Room Chairs we purchased. The chairs have NO support bar across the top of the seatback, so ALL of them are splitting apart and NOTBEREPAIRED. We’ve had several highly experienced furniture repair people look at the chairs and they fully agree the chairs are defective, yet R&B refutes there’s a problem and refuses to stand behind their product. Coincidentally, they no longer sell this chair. We spent over $ 1200 on this set and they will all end up in the TRASH rather than lasting for years had there not been a defect. VERYDISAPPOINTING experience. We no longer support this company.

I ordered 3 white metal cooper benches, and 2 of the 3 came with obvious welding marks right down the center of the benches. I communicated my dissatisfaction of the defects to R&B, and they agreed to replace them. Upon bringing the benches all the way back, and picking up the new replacement benches, the replacement benches had the same welding marks. Room & Boards explanation was that«these marks are going to be on all cooper benches». Why they would even agree to replace the benches knowing that the replacements would have the exact same issue is beyond me. Whats especially frustrating, I have bought these same exact benches 3 years ago(2 of them), and they are perfect, not a single welding mark is there. Room & Board has completely wasted my time, and patience. Shame on them for not caring enough to understand the issue completely.

How odd. A week ago I get a phone call from a woman named Lily(phone # 6127521174) asking me if I would like to participate in a market research interview about the R&B catalog. After asking a few questions, she informs me I’m qualified to participate(presumably because, among other things, I’ve purchased somewhere north of $ 15,000 in product from R&B) – and tells me I will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours and packet of materials in a few days and will need to be able to view things via webex. All sounds super fun – and then… nothing! Absolute crickets. And the number Lily gave me to call her back at(see above) does not connect to anything. A dead end. Very fishy. Hey Room & Board – what gives? Is this a scam? Or how you treat customers? Very odd – and leaves a sour taste about the R&B brand and future purchases. Do tell what’s up…

I am dreaming of a couch. It’s a recurring dream almost several nights in a row now. It’s so beautiful and what I wanted exactly. At times, I wish my dream couch isn’t a Room and Board couch. Why not? Because it would be cheaper. However, it’s true that you get what you paid for. The biggest mistake I made was starting my couch hunting at Room and Board as I found THE couch right away and nothing else measured up after that. It was such an easy find as everything in that store is beautiful in design as well as how it’s made. The store is clean and spacious and all the furnitures are set with such elegance. They use real props for their staging — real plants, fruits, etc. it was crazy and it’s so classy. There’s no one hovering at you or following you around like you are their hunting target. The staff were around and smile and if you look at them, then they ask if they can answer any questions. I also found out that they did not work on commission and that’s probably why they didn’t have that cutthroat approach in securing a sale and just let you be and help you when you ask. It’s great! I am definitely in love with the products, the store, the staff. They have bottled waters around and they let you take your time in discovering their products. It is more than fantastic that you can customize just about anything and change fabrics as you see fit. Of course I found a fabric that made me fall to my knees, and it just adds more $$$ to the cost but then now, I feel like I have to have it. I dragged Dita D with me for second opinion and she of course really was a strong supporter of the store as she had firsthand great experience with them. I am 99% sold and just have to take the plunge. Too bad this store is haggle free and no financing. I guess this type of furniture store is when you can go in and say…“I’ll take that.” When you start asking how much is when you knew you can’t afford it. I just love love getting a good deal no matter what it is, and I love haggling. There’s just something bout negotiating that gets me going. Well, I’ll update this review when I actually made the purchase. I have opposing opinions now from friends and for the fact that I don’t really need a new couch. I just want a new one. If I did decide to purchase, I am setting my nav to the short fast route straight to Room and Board.

I’ve liked Room and Board forever but finally visited the store recently. I wasn’t greeted right away but shortly after I entered the store. The salesperson was great! She was very knowledgeable but not pushy. Their products are absolutely beautiful but are on the pricey side. That being said it is high quality product. In recently purchased my entire bedroom set through room and board and really love it!

Dropped in at Room & Board recently in hopes of replacing a kitchen table and possibly some bedroom furniture. True to it’s reputation, the place was full of american contemporary styles that were pricey but appealing.(Obviously I knew this before walking in and had every intention of purchasing some new items)… However, the only«greeting or help» I received was from the store’s numerous cookie platters. Despite wandering around the place for over an hour, no employee would assist me. In hopes of drumming up some customer service, I even asked for a catalog but received no followup… Frustrated, I opted to leave because I refuse to «beg a business» to take my money. Shortly thereafter, I left West Elm with $ 1000 less in my bank account. However, I left with my dignity intact and that my friends, has no price tag.

I have no formal training in design. I have learned the names Saarinen, Eames, and Nelson from looking at catalogs for Herman Miller and Design Within Reach. I don’t know the intricacies of what makes their furniture better than other furniture; all I know is that looking at these masterpieces induces drooling at the mouth. For design-wannabes like myself, entering Room and Board is like walking into my dream home. I want to covertly snap pictures of all the rooms with my iPhone so I can look back later and figure out how to turn a plain old room into a work of art. RnB is full of inspiration! Luckily, they sometimes have a room that is also filled with castoffs from the sales floor at lower prices. I snagged myself a sweet highback Eames task chair and two beautiful Italian desk lamps, all at hundreds of dollars off their original prices. Still, none of this is cheap. Expect expensive price tags on everything you see. Then again, quality doesn’t come cheaply. If you want furniture made in the US and Europe that will last a lifetime, Room and Board might be right up your alley. As a postscript, I never did see the free cookies one other reviewer noted. Sadly disappointing!

I(heart) Eams lounge chair. Its has modern and classic stuff, very good selection, allthough the people there can be a bit pushy at times and they only have one sale all year at their retail outlet, thats on new years day. BURRRRR. I enjoy the selection and size of the store(two floors) and the location and parking(private lot) but even I think a $ 6,000 wingback chair is realy cool but too much in these economic times.

My favorite part about shopping at Room & Board is the free coffee and cookies. Damn good coffee and delicious, soft sugar cookies… mmm None the less, the furniture. I moved up to Minneapolis just this past September. I can’t believe I’ve been living my life without Room & Board. I know I need to check out the outlet store, but I’ve purchased a few items at the store on France. And it was all in all a great experience. All my questions were answered. They took care of my order in store quite swiftly. The delivery guys were fantastic. Seriously, these guys were good at what they do, and very respectful of my home. And my sales person even called me to make sure everything was delivered okay, and to make sure i was happy with everything. I’m loving my new furniture.

Hmmmm… the Room and Board Outlet has been reviewed(all with 5 stars, btw) but Room and Board hasn’t? I think it’s pretty easy to guess why… Unilocalers love the quality and style of the RnB, but not the price tag! Yes, falling in love only to realize the object of your affection is out of your league can be totally devastating so I can understand why we may shy away from entering… but I KNOW you browse the catalogue! Well, I’m feeling generous today, and even though I’m a wee bit hesitant to share this info, I think the common Unilocal good prevails in this case. The floor sale at the REGULAR RnB starts Dec 26th. Amazing savings to be had ATTHEREGULARSTORE. It’s really a don’t miss opportunity. Oh, and if I find you grabbing that drum pendant lighting fixture that I’ve been eying for some time now, I WILLTACKLEYOUFORIT!
