Solid 3 stars but no more. Décor is very outdated and if I were the owner I would change the lighting as soon as possible: they are too low and remind me of the 80s for some reason. Food is solid. Well executed, tasty, very classic and the choice is somewhat limited. I had some good escargot, that even my skeptical BF tried and appreciated. They were soft and the butter sauce was classic French and tasty. Then I had the mussels with fries: a mountain of them with a mountain of fries. Considering the portions back in Europe are usually around 2lb of mussels and enough fries to match, I felt at home. And the mussels were tasty(some more than others) and the fries were perfectly crispy. BF had the duck confit and he said it was really well cooked. We finished off with the crime brûlée that was far too rich for my taste, but BF loved it. Summing up: solid, but not omething I would write home about. On the other hand, if you are craving some specific French dish(like sometimes I do with mussels or escargot) this might be your best option.

Went to Pierre’s again on New Year’s Eve and had another superb experience. The Mussels are to die for with a Tomato Cream Sauce and the Profiterole is a must have for dessert, Cream Puffs stuffed with ice cream. I mean, C’mon. Just go to Pierre’s.

My girlfriend and I had dinner at Pierre’s on a weekend night this summer on a recommendation, and had a great experience! It’s a smaller place with simple décor, and wonderful smells throughout. It being a bistro, I was a little unsure of proper attire. I saw a little of everything, from dress shirts and slacks to shorts and nice t-shirts, so don’t worry about sticking out! One thing I noticed right away is that the wait staff was hustling the entire time. They were treating customers very nicely and when it came time to go back to the kitchen to place orders or grab food, they were moving very fast. You can tell that Pierre has them whipped into shape! Our waiter Justin greeted us at the table and answered a few questions about the menu. He really knows his stuff and had some great recommendations. We mentioned we had a bottle of wine in the car and he said he’d be fine with us bringing it in. He didn’t charge us a corking fee, and even opened it for us and poured several glasses for us.(I’m not sure if this is the official policy) The food was some of the best I’ve had in the Twin Cities: Appetizer: Mushroom tart — a terrific start to the meal Shared entrees — walleye and duck confit(both at the recommendation of the waiter) — did not disappoint! Dessert — crème brûlée We had a great time at Pierre’s and plan to go back soon. We’ve recommended it to everyone. The bill was a little high, but well worth it.

we’ve loved Pierre’s for 3 years now(ever since moving to the TC). definitely try the escargot, mussels and mushroom tart. the steak/frites are a good once you’ve explored other interesting things on the menu. make sure you are very specific about how your steak is prepared. The Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet is FANTASTIC and a great meal for the money. Several things are made to order but the spread is killer! If Pierre offers brunch anytime, GO. We considered this for our wedding rehearsal dinner but it is a very expensive place to book for an entire evening. Pierre(understandably) has to charge a similar rate to what he could make serving dinner to that many tables.

I dream about two dishes at Pierre’s — the steamed mussels and the escargot in garlic butter. In Minneapolis, both dishes are the best in town. You must try them. Tender and filled with flavor, they are what mussels and escargot should be. Even if you don’t have time for dinner, stop and have one or both with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc or a nice Belgian beer. You’ll thank me.

What a wonderful surprise! I got a $ 25 coupon for $ 4 from , so I thought I’d give Pierre’s a try. I wasn’t expecting much but was blown away! The duck legs confit are spectacular — rich and succulent!(Ducks are super-cute and, yes, super-delicious!) This is now my favorite dish in the whole world! And, the servings are generous so you have more than enough for another meal. Confessions though: It’s tastier fresh so be sure to arrive famished. I want to write Gourmet magazine to tell them to finnagle the recipe for the potato salad from the chef. Thin slices of lean sausage and potatoes and dill, perhaps, in a slightly spicy, nuanced, obviously made-from-scratch dressing. Try it, you’ll love it. Desserts! OMG! $ 5 will get you heaven on a plate… so reasonable! I tried a rasberry-soaked sponge-cakey thingy that, again, was melt-in-your-mouth, made-from-scratch amazing. My friend tried the NY strip, and I ordered the escargot, but I would recommend being a little more daring and sampling their other menu items. Oh, and $ 16 will get you a full carafe of housewine, that breaks out to about $ 4 per glass. Not bad! The service was great, by the way. I fully intend to become a regular!

Have not eaten here in over 5 years. Read some other Unilocal reviews for eating suggestions; very helpful. Party of four, we shared the apple strawberry salad & mushroom tart– very nice, but best shared for just two. Two orders of the half duck and shared the grilled salmon(with mango salsa). Great flavors, nice presentation and timely service. Only criticism was the split charge($ 5 per serving) without splitting the portions on separate plates for the customer: charge w/no service. Not an inexpensive experience, but very enjoyable. Pierre was visible and interactive with his patrons! Nice touch… I will come back.

The service was fantastic! Atmosphere cute & romantic. Wine list– good for the size of the restaurant. Parking lot= Bonus! Unfortunately, the food was not consistent. We started started with the mussels. They were delish! The broth was slightly creamy as opposed to the typical tomato or white wine broth so many places offer. The server explained the Walleye special with such enthusiasm that we both went for it.(I am usually against ordering the same thing as my companion– but it was a special so we wouldn’t be able to get it again.) Unfortunately, the special was bland, wet, and lacked texture. The walleye, mushrooms and scallops all sort of blended together. Not to mention inconsistent filleting– my dish had at least 2 dozen bones while my companion’s had 3. The reviews on Unilocal are very good– I would like to think we just picked a dish that hadn’t been perfected yet. I always use the bathroom when I eat out.(Small bladder.) Thank goodness I wasn’t gassy! The bathrooms are down stairs. I could see the hardwood floor above the ladies room. There was a rug above it– but I could still hear every single the table above the toilet was saying. If I had been gassy– they would have gotten to hear every bit! A little insulation or music could do wonders! Since my food experience didn’t match the other Unilocalers– I would like to try Pierre’s Bistro again. But I will definitely order off the regular menu so I know they have the dish perfected. And I will avoid beans for at least 24 hours prior.

Mom-in-law was in town during a blizzardy night and her request for dinner was to find some«nice walleye». We wanted to stick in South Mpls due to the weather and interestingly enough the only walleye entrée I could find within a few miles was at Pierre’s. It was a wonderful experience and I’ll be back. Other reviewers are correct in saying it is authentic and un-pretentious. Noteworthy items in which my palate screamed for more were the apple-blue cheese salad and the crème brûlée(omg to-die-for!!) oh amazing and reasonably priced wine too!

Mom’s first visit to Minneapolis a few weeks ago meant braving the nine inches of snow to go out to eat on Saturday night. Because the ground was still icy we decided to stay close to home in South Minneapolis. Pierre’s Bistro fit the bill. While the place is more expensive than restaurants I normally frequent, Mom promised to foot the bill making the experience that much better. With that said, I probably will return(even if I have to pay, haha) if I ever feel like something fancier than a bar and grille. Lindsay C. and I split the New York strip and the crusted walleye, the latter being much better than the former. The steak was not cooked evenly, and was riddled with fat. The walleye more than made up for it though. Additionally we accompanied the meal with a side of O’Brien potatoes and apple strawberry salad. Both were great. And for dessert we all shared the Crème brûlée, which I managed to enjoy despite not normally being a fan. The ambiance of Pierre’s is very nice and getting a table was not challenging, but I’m sure the weather had something to do with that. Also note that they have a nice offering of wines and bottled beers. Draft beers are available but limited.

Sweet little neighborhood bistro! Pierre’s is a casual and cozy place and I know I will be a repeat visitor! The duck confit was tender with great flavor. Served with brussels sprouts and roasted potatoes, it was a huge portion and just around $ 20. My husband and our friends chose the lamb shank, which was rich and meaty, falling easily from the bone. They all loved it and their portions were also quite liberal. Our group started with a pair of tarte flambés. They were made with cheese, caramelized onions, mushroom, bacon and sour cream on flaky little crusts! Yum! A couple bottles of a nice French Bordeaux at reasonable prices made for a perfect evening!

Why is it that when I read the reviews for Pierre’s Bistro, I hear myself using a pretty cheesy French accent? Oh la la! Maybe it’s because I’m snotty with my French cuisine… all because I was born there(shoulder double-brush with my hand). Since I’m so snotty, please order the baked brie. Yum! Pretty sure that was the best baked brie to date. And yah, yah, yah, I know, paella isn’t really from the French, but order that too. Yes, it was a special, but it sounds like they have that quiet often. The service was a tad bit slow for my taste, but the waiter excused that he was putting out fires. Not sure you want to admit this at a restaurant. And parking is available on the side of the building. By the end of the night, I sounded like Joey Tribianni(from the one where Joey tries to speak French). Phoebe: Je m’appelle Claude. Joey: Je depli mblue. Phoebe: Uh. It’s not… quite what I’m saying. Joey: Really? It sounds exactly the same to me. Phoebe: It does, really? Joey: Yeah. Phoebe: All right, let just try it again. Really listen. Joey: Got it. Phoebe:(slowly) Je m’appelle Claude. Joey: Je te flouppe Fli. Phoebe: Oh, mon Dieu! Joey: Oh, de fuff!

Merveilleux! I highly recommend this charming Bistro that serves authentic and delicious French cuisine with a smile. The escargot was so good we sopped up every last drop of the butter sauce after we polished off the snails. New York strip steak with pommes frites, done to perfection and the crème brulee… seriously, the best I have ever had! All of this served up in a casual atmosphere without an ounce of pretense. Pierre is as nice of a guy as he is a great French chef. If you haven’t had the chance to eat at Pierre’s, you have missed out on the best French food I have had in Minneapolis!

I think everyone thinks French food is pretentious, it translates to as Gerhard K. said, «grandiose Chandelier and pompous blink» But Bistros in Paris aren’t that way. In fact it’s not that way at all. Pierre’s Bistro kinda resonates this fact. It’s a petite little restaurant in a suburban neighborhood. The menu is simple, which basically highlights the options they have perfected. With the help of Unilocal, and the fact that we love mussels in white wine sauce, we ordered that for the appetizers. It was just beautiful. The waiter brought us rolls as soon as they came fresh out of the oven. Baguettes like those, I’ve never tasted before. They just melted in our mouths. I had the duck confit — which was huge in terms of serving size. You can basically eat half of it, and have a doggie bag for home. My significant other had the crepes with a curry cream sauce, which was the special at that time. It’s such a unique burst of flavours, that I almost regretted not ordering that for myself. The wine is affordable and pairs wonderfully with our meals. The wait service was kind, and very informative. I’m so in love with Pierre’s, I highly recommend that you go there. NOW.

Great little place. Love the escargot and mussels. The bar is where I’ve always dined. Pierre’s hospitality seems genuine and is always entertaining. There is a small parking lot — specifically for Pierre’s clientele — of about ten spaces directly to the left of the restaurant. I highly recommend; I don’t understand why this place is not completely packed all the time.

My first visit to Pierre’s and without a doubt takes a place in my top five dining experiences. Yes, that good. Our server, Eric, was attentive, engaging and helpful-for me that adds to the whole evening. The décor is simple, nothing overly stylish, but it doesn’t need to be. The food is the highlight here. Brie en Croute started the gastro-journey, followed by a Rack of Lamb that was served with a red wine reduction sauce that was out of this world. Paired perfectly(at Eric’s suggestion) with the Peter Lehmann Clancy’s(a wonderfully smooth cab/merlot/shiraz blend). My several bites of Paella were outstanding as well. Last but not least… Crème Caramel dessert… a perfect flan sharing the plate with grilled pound cake strips that were happily swimming in caramel sauce.

Unlike most places i’ve reviewed, I’ve only been here once. I went on the recommendation of a good friend. Took me six months or so to finally get over there. It was on a Tuesday. And completely dead. There only two other tables and a couple of folks at the bar when we were there. Good thing we had reservations. Food was excellent. We had the Escargot – best I’ve had in town. I had the special – lamb chops. There were five of them and they were divine. I grew up on a sheep farm, so I know good lamb. My date had the braised lamb shank. Also superb. Wine was good, but didn’t blow my mind. All in all, my expectations were met. The interior is a bit kitschy, maybe even cliché, but that’s kind of what makes Pierre’s a cool little neighborhood bistro. Cozy, comfortable, and delicioius. That’s a good recipe.

Do you know what I love about Pierre’s? It reminds me of the myriad of Parisian bistros — cozy, serving comfort food, Pierre chatting up his gaggle of French regulars, and a neighborhood restaurant in the truest sense. If you want something more mainstream, go up 50th to Salut Bar Américain for an over-priced glass of California oaked Chardonnay and massive prime cut of steak. If you want something adventurous and upscale, visit Vincent downtown. If you want a more authentic French meal, go see Pierre. I grew up in the neighborhood near Pierre’s and have been a regular customer for several years now. While I wish that there was more of a nod toward the local produce and seasonality(the cornerstone of any French cooking), you’ll find a wide range of food from the stalwart French classics to a flirtatious edge towards the food of France’s neighbors. I would recommend that you(and your company) opt for sharing an assortment of appetizers. Not only will you cover more ground, so to speak, but the appetizers run on the larger side and you’ll rack up less of a bill. The onion soup has been a long time favorite with its rich onion flavor and mustard-y bite, as has the mushroom tart with rich mushroom filling and perfectly flaky crust. The brie en croûte with apricot preserves and garlic-parsley butter is just what the doctor ordered for a cool fall night — and it’s large enough to be a meal unto itself. The wine and beer selection is modest, if somewhat limited, but nicely priced and obviously selected carefully to match the food. Prices, while high for the entrées, are reasonable given the generous portion sizes.

I am a big fan of neighborhood restaurants and wanted to like Pierre’s but unfortunately this is the kind of restaurant that takes great, exotic ingredients and overcooks/overflavours them beyond all recognition. I went with my wife, we split an egg and frog leg meat appetizer that could have been regular scrambled eggs with chicken. She had a ribeye which was doused with Worcester sauce and I had Paella which was so salty that of all the ingredients — mussels, squid, shrimps, etc. the chicken chorizo sausage was the least salty thing in it. Everything else had been so overcooked that it was either tough or inedible. I wish them no ill will but unfortunately I’d have to say it was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time.

Food is outstanding; top notch. Mon Dieu! The heady aroma emanating from the hot, crusty rolls as they were brought to our table ignited our tastebuds and appetites! Oh! The brie and apricot jam baked in a puff pastry — I’m going to have to return again to get some of this and have it, along with many cups of expresso, for breakfast! Maybe I could plead with Pierre to open for breakfast? The steamed mussels were in a wonderfully flavorful broth, and the sea scallops… ooohhh myyyy… Yum. The special salads for the day were delicious, as was the daily special of Hangar Steak with a red wine reduction and a mound of garlic mashed potatoes. When this dish was delivered to my place, I thought it looked like a beautiful crown — a mound of white in the middle of a shallow bowl with thick slices of hangar steak propped around the base and glistening with a dark red sauce. It was succulent. The walleye enjoyed by others was delightful, as was the salmon. Wine selection is about average. Atmosphere is light, yet intimate, similar to what I’ve experienced in France. Recorded French music plays in the background(not right in your face…). Waiter service… well, I expected better and would have appreciated more self-assurance, better food knowledge, and proper etiquette, particularly with regard to serving wine once the person who ordered the bottle tasted it and approved it for pouring to all guests. I would like to offer that if a couple were to go there and share an appetizer, and each order both a salad and an entrée, and order a bottle of medium priced wine, that the tab could easily be upwards around $ 60 per person. And the experience would be worth every single franc. Go, and enjoy yourself. Linger…
