I’ve been attending Pilates classes at New Movement since August. I’ve had classes taught by Kim, Martha, and Kristen. They are all great instructors, very personable and supportive. The class size is perfect(3 reformers) so the instructors are able to give up a lot of individual attention. They make sure you that you are performing the moves in a safe manner and the you are really engaging your core. I’ve noticed my posture is a lot better and I’m more aware of how I carry myself outside of class. As a massage therapist, I’m constantly using my upper back & arms and it is extremely helpful to take these classes that focus on getting proper alignment of the body. I had 2 c-sections and this has been a great way to get those abdominal muscles engaged and strong. I highly recommend New Movement for Pilates.

I go weekly to New Movement to help keep my body strong and flexible for my work as a massage therapist. Kim is very good and helps me understand specific details regarding my body and what it needs to stay strong and mobile. The individual attention is superb. AND The space is lovely too!

I have been to several classes at New Movement and have loved every one! I am fairly new to Pilates, and every instructor I’ve had(Kim, Johnna and Kristin) have been super helpful and motivating. The reformer classes are kept pretty small, so you get a great deal of individual attention and help as needed. we also do a variety of exercises and the hour classes go by super fast. I am expecting and every instructor has been great about making sure I am comfortable, and giving me good tips about exercises that are particularly helpful for my pre-natal self! In fact, Kim has even added a pre/post-natal class that is wonderful! This is a great addition to the neighborhood, and I think I’ve actually found a type of exercise that I enjoy enough to do on a regular basis!

Enjoyed Pilates playground class on Saturday. We got to use a lot of the equipment and she quickly adapts the difficulty level to your needs. I’m visiting from SF and do Pilates in California regularly and will definitely come here when I visit MN!

New Movement is a great new addition to the 48th& Chicago neighborhood! I echo what many of the previous reviewers have stated. It’s is a great studio– one thing I especially like is the small class size, lots of 1-on-1 attention. Although all the other reviews have been for Kim, the owner, I have gone to 8 classes so far with Martha, I have yet to take a course from Kim but look forward to trying her jumpboard and pilates playground classes soon. Martha is a great instructor! She always comes with a smile and encouragement, varies the workout each time and pays specific attention to what students are needing/interested in. Highly recommended!

Kim is one of a kind and extremely talented. I was an athlete most my life and have worked with many coaches, instructors and teachers in my. Kim is, by far, one of the best I have ever worked with. Her knowledge is unmatched and she is extremely adaptable to all body types, injuries and fitness level. I highly recommend visiting New Movement.

Kim is an excellent teacher who helps to achieve great results. I’ve been working with her for a few months now, trying to rehab from a car accident that has left me with chronic pain. Through her instruction I’ve gotten stronger, my posture is better, I’m much more aware of my body and how I move it, and my pain has reduced! New Movement is in a convenient location in South Minneapolis near a bunch of cute shops and restaurants. The space is very nice– serene and spacious, and her equipment is gorgeous(is that weird to say about pilates equipment??) I love going to my sessions!
