Terrible food and dicourteous employees. No wonder their stock is in the toilet. Employee customer relationships make and break buisness these days. Eat at a name brand restaurant.

Stopped by during a break from work and got their hummus platter. It was in the to go section and cost $ 5.45 before taxes. They had celery, pita, feta cheese, olives and carrots to go with the hummus. The hummus had some crushed paprika and garlic in it which was tasty, but I also wish they just had original. Everything was pretty tasty but I struggled to open the hummus container because olive oil was all over it. I’ve gotten their bread bowls, soup, and various salads from the salad bar. Everything has been very tasty and not over salted which I appreciate. It can get pricey considering the amount you order and the other places you could eat, but it’s nice if you want something specific and fresh. Located in the basement of Macy’s. You won’t get lost getting there but it may be tricky to get back above ground. At least I always have some difficulty.

Macy’s basement is typically crazy at lunch time so be prepared to defend your spot in lines and wait a while. I say multiple lines because there’s a line for the each bar and then there’s the line to check out. Below are my usual stops: Make Your Own Salad — I see everyone making 1 – 2 lb salads but my goal is mastering control over the weight and price of my creation. I think the timing of when you go to the basement, knowing what ingredients you want, exercising instructive non vague words are key. I always start by saying«I“m making a SMALL salad today». Obviously on the first trip you’ll want a 20 item salad so don’t be surprised if it totals at $ 15 plus. I like to make a salad that’s around $ 4 and I’ll grab a soup or add my own additional toppings from home. Soup Bar — The lobster bisque is unique but I find the sherry taste too dominating. Looking for something heavy, there’s the classic cream of chicken and wild rice. Perfection is the wild mushroom bisque, great flavor but not too rich. Pasta Salad Bar — the variety changes all the time but my go to’s are the tuna pea pasta(heavy on the mayo) and lemon basil tomato pasta(great light salad). Depending on the season they may offer items such as watermelon or roasted vegetables. Hot Food Bar — after a rough night out nothing’s better than mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and a handful of meatballs. Serious comfort food. Don’t let getting in and out deter you from coming back, the convenience and amount of choice rivals anywhere else downtown. In addition there’s an Izzy, desserts, Starbucks, Chinese food, sushi, hot and cold sandwiches.

Chili chopped salad. So good… But anything with a chili dressing on it has to be, right? Other than that, there’s always a few good pasta salads and such to check out(if they have the curried broccoli salad with raisins… sign me up), and the chicken chili is dependable too. If I’m grabbing something to go, this place is a good fix, but more often than not I’d rather go to the Skyroom. Part of that may come with the unorganized chaos that is caused by a bunch of Piper Jaffray banking d-bags thinking they run the place and can create their own lines. (STILLBITTER) Kidding. As a quick stop, the Macy’s Basement is a fine option compared to other downtown fast serve spots.

I used to frequent the basement food court all the time. My visits were mainly for Lee Ann Chin till I realized that the(chicken) dishes all tasted the same and lost interest. I’ve had the sushi and wraps which were okay and the quiche which was bad. What keeps me going back is the chopped salad w/white balsamic vinaigrette. It’s pretty good and reminds me of the chopped salad at Zelos, but for a much lower cost. If you decide to try it have them add some crispy wontons. While I haven’t tried everything in the bakery section, I’ve had the Woullet cupcakes which are dry. If you want something good go for the star shape sugar cookie which is soft, chewy and delicious. If you plan on stopping by the food court know that in addition to what I’ve mentioned they also have sandwiches, pizza, soup, pasta salads, gelato, Starbucks and more. Stop by and give it a try.

It’s conveniently located for me and I enjoy the variety of options available in one location. It can get REALLY busy so if you go at lunch(like everything else in the Skyway), gird your loins and pile on the patience. There is a Starbucks down there, but from my experience there is usually only one person working the counter, so things only move so fast. There is a cooler/wall of pre-made items, so if you just want to grab something quick, this is probably your best option during the lunch rush.

Down in the basement of Macy’s, past the bedding and china sections, is a bustling food court area with stations for salads, soups, sandwiches, sushi, Leann Chin, baked goods, ice cream, and probably some things I am forgetting. This is one of my go-to lunch spots. I usually either get a sandwich and some fruit from the«Grab n Go» area if I am in a super hurry and/or know exactly what I want. Or, I love getting a container of one of their tasty pasta salads with a piece of crusty bread on the side. Also, they have the best Rice Krispie treats ever here. It can be a little overwhelming as it gets crowded in here, and after you get your food at whichever counter you’ve selected, you then take it elsewhere to pay, but it’s worth it. The prices are reasonable — usually $ 5 for a sandwich or a small container of pasta salad, $ 1 for a huge hunk of bread, and they also seem to run specials on things a lot like $ 1 fountain beverages or $ 1 cookies. This is a great spot if you or your lunch crew is unsure what you’re in the mood for because it’s kind of a one stop shop. Also, bonus, it’s right by the candy section and if you have not browsed the candy section at Macy’s in a while, then hop to it! Delicious fruity gummi things along with chocolate covered everything and truffles and more. And it always seems to be 20% off. I will continue to be a regular here and highly recommend it!

The Downtown Minneapolis Macy’s Food Court has a large variety of items from which to choose. It’s like the catch-all of fast food dining experiences, which makes it easy for just about anyone to find something of interest. Options include comfort food(such as mac n’ cheese or roasted chicken), prepared pasta and lettuce salads, a design-your-own salad bar, freshly prepared sushi, individual pizzas, and prepared sandwiches or cheese plates. They also have an Izzy’s ice cream stand, a LeeAnn Chin, a Starbucks, and a frozen yogurt stand all within this convenient locale. And let’s not forget the delicious cakes and cookies case that taunts me next to the salad bar. The ordering and payment process can be a little bit hectic because is a lack of defined queues at some stations. After you stand in line to get your food, you need to make your way over to one of several checkout stations and stand in line again to pay. This is kinda annoying and inefficient but I usually find that I can get in and out fairly quickly. I just wonder how much money they lose with people who never go to the pay station. Guess it can’t be too much or they’d change the process I hope. As we expect with all food courts, they also provide a nice amount of table seating once you have your meal. Tables turn over often enough that you can generally find seating. While it’s not the fanciest of meals or the most inspiring environment, Macy’s food court remains an easy go-to spot for the busy Downtown lunch crowd.

I used to frequent this place years ago and it still serves the same food: specialty salads, soups, sandwiches, pizzas and desserts. It is still overpriced and even more disorganized. I spent over $ 10 for a sandwich and a cup of soup and the food is quite average for a food court. They used to scan bar code stickers at the registers of your order, now everything you get gets thrown in a white paper bag and you tell them what you order at the register. Honor system? What a cluster. Macy’s you need to up your game with all the competition downtown. You get to be my first 1 star on Unilocal
