I usually try a place a few times before I review it, particularly if I’m going to give a bad review, but I just don’t want to go back here, and I can’t find an excuse to go back(such as if there were good Unilocal reviews). Plus there are 2 very good Somali places 1 block north, so why bother again with this restaurant? I got the Moon Chicken, and it was tough and gristly. I’ve had a very similar dish at a few other Somali places, but where the chicken was very good. If I live in Minneapolis when I’m 65, I promise to give them another try, and update my review.

Wanted to branch away from the more Americanised Somali places in town, and happened to be passing by this one, so gave it a shot. We ended up getting some chicken curry, keke noodles, and that one sort of stew with celery(I misrecall the name). Nothing was particularly terrible, but all pretty unexciting, though the keke was at least decent. The curry was rather bland, and overall the food just didn’t have much character. I’ve had better at other Somali-community joints in other towns, so it’s not just a matter of it being«too foreign» as just rather lackluster. The sign says«African and Mediterranean cuisine», but like in much of Minneapolis that appears to just mean«Somali food and also gyros.»
